QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) YAS, we're going to have to get you a dish and MLB extra innings. That way you'd get to see every game except the WCIU games, it's great. Definitely something you should look into, if you want to see more games. I'd do it, but I'm hoping I can move to Texas before the summer is over. Once I get there, I'll certainly make that a priority.

Not going to be able to make any April games. I am making arrangements to see at least on egame in Arlington near the end of May, and then a couple of games at the Cell in June.

QUOTE(MoreCowbell @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) I didn't see the game, but I'm just hopeful that the team can maintain good position until Frank comes back. Good signs: We had pretty good defense Buerhle pitched well, ideally this indicates he will not have a "snakebit" year a la 2003 Things I'd still like to see this year: End the curse of the Left Coast B-Mac coming up and dictating either a 6 man rotation or moving Contreras to a set-up role AL Central title Frank stays healthy once he gets back I could get into a statistical/probabalistic argument about why having a comeback team is better than having a power team, in terms of come-from-behind victories, but I won't. Actually, during the game. I was thinking that Buehrle would probably be the snakebit pitcher this year. Things turned out well, but I did have my moments of wondering if he was going to be the tough luck guy.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 10:34 AM) Is it possible for Frank to hit one on top of the Fundamentals deck.... cause that would cool. That would set JR up for a massive lawsuit if some got hurt.

When you don't get to see games as often as most of you do, you are thankful for any opportunity to watch. All you can do is hope for the best, just like any other game.

Some times things have a funny way of hitting home. I, not 15 minutes ago, found out that my father has prostate cancer. Reading that article, and the odds that Cowley faced, kind of helped me put things into the proper perspective.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) I called them vigilantes because that was the term being used. It was in the thread title, it was in the articles, and was what Border Patrol calls them. The fact remains ... as of right now they are not vigilantes.
-
You have repeatedly called these people vigilantes through this thread. I have not argued any points of yours or the justifications for your opinions. They are all valid. I am, however, pointing out the facts, as things currently stand that these people are neither vigilantes nor criminals. That is the crux of my argument. Why can't you accept a fact as a fact until it no longer is a fact? And ... I'll give you this .. it very well could become as you expect it to.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) Most of these guys are from out of state, I wonder what Arizona's laws are in regard to concealed weapons. We have a reciprocal agreement with a few states in Texas which would make it legal to carry if you have a permit from one of those states. You are so anxious to label these citizens as vigilantes or criminals without any solid justification whatsoever. Pure speculation is all you have. It's petty politics because you disagree with them.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) The Fundamentals looked finished to me. That kid hit a homer into the seas below and won a $50 gift certificate! Wow. That kid has some awesome power!

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) I'm wondering why they need guns? They are licenced to carry them. I wondering why that can't?

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 07:20 AM) The group currently in the news is not the only group that has done this. There are or have been many more. I guess that is part of the debate here, this isn't anything new to the border. These guys are just better at promotion and since 9/11 they have wrapped themselves up in the American flag. Well, perhaps those earlier groups were vigilantes. As of now, this group is not.

Tennessee's most scandalous senator now facing serious investigation Then, at the end, they play the race card. Unreal. :headshake

QUOTE(beck72 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) I think PK's comments weren't based on talking w/ Mark. Just supposing the foot is hurting him. If the foot was hurting him, I think the sox would take it easy on him. Exactly. That first "abridged" quote just said "I know his foot is bothering him." Which leads you believe Mark had at least mentioned it to PK, or it was known throughout the clubhouse. The second "unabridged" quote tells a completely different story.

Here's a little more of the quote. What I posted earlier was all I had seen to that point. This spins things in a slightly different direction.

QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 06:30 AM) Haven't seen that kind of combo since the Fisk/Hoyt days. 2 experienced guys really in sinc, and A.J.'s game calling to help others on the staff. Fisk was a master at that. Don't get me wrong, Hoyt,Burns,Dotson,Bannister were a great staff, but Fisk's experience and game calling were a HUGE part of their success. Let's hope that A.J. will do the same. Both had/have did their homework, and played with a great deal of intensity. Somewhere, in one of the many articles I've read on the game, it was stated the Peirzinski asked for and received tapes of Buehrle vs. Cleveland games. He studied them and knew how Buehrle wanted to approach the Tribe hitters by watching what he had done in the past. This does not sound like a catcher that won't work with his pitching staff to me.
-
This was from the Sun-Times, by the way.

I saw this quote from Konerko about Buehrle .... .... and I'm wondering if that foot injury is something we should be concerned about. Up to this point, I've heard nothing negative about Buehrle's foot. I have to say that this remark caused me to raise my eyebrows.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Not all, but many of them fit not only the dictionary definition, but the popular meaning as well. As of yet, they have not taken the law into their own hands. They are reporting illegal activity to the proper authorities .... as any good American citizen should do.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) White House reports Drug War in Columbia fails to achieve basic objectives 3 billion dollar program You just have to keep being a ... a .... a Canadien, don't you. :headshake

QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) That quote by DeLay is the sound of someone throwing ANYTHING he can against the wall to get the country and his district to ignore the ethics violation upon ethics violation upon possible felony indictment heaped upon him. Some people call it the "Rostenkowski moment." I'd be inclined to agree with you on this one.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Yep. Robert Machado played for us from 1996 to 1998 and he played for the Flubs in 2001 and 2002. There you go. If any Cub fan mentions either of these two Sox or ex-Sox players, you can blame it on the Cub organization. -
Sounds kind of realistic to me. Look at Konerko from 2002 to 2003, then to 2004.

To all you Illini fans that are down and/or pissed about losing to UNC. I have been watching all of you just giddily happy and excited all season long. The Illini took you to unprecedented heights (for Illini fans ) and you guys have had a whole lot of joy, fun, excitement, happiness all year long. This team did that for you. Do not disrespect them or be too down about what happened. It was great great season to be an Illini fan .... I know because you guys told me as much all season long.
