You know Dusty ... Gotta go with the veterans.

This reminds me of someone else, who won't fluctuate one iota on a particular issue because this person feels so strongly. Just saying.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) I don't think most of us as fans actually sit and think of the aggregate sum of things until we actually see them in print or text. I just didnt realize we ONLY scored 2 runs or less in 45 of our games YAS Now there is something I can agree with.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) Is it because of sanchez's boost in home run power last year? No. It's because he tested positive this year. That is what's called having something on which to base an accusation.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) no no no...I'm not saying MLB made the story up at all.. I'm saying they knew about the positive test 4 WEEKS ago, yet they waited until Opening Day to announce it. Thats my only beef with it. And I still don't think Sanchez is an actual roid user myself... I'd be alot more likely to think Sanchez used, than to think Koch did.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Wow...thats an alarming stat...Luckily we aren't the same "2 runners on base = 3 run homer time!!" team that we have tried to be in the past. What's alarming about a team losing games that they don't score many runs in? Seems like most teams would have ugly losing records in games they scored 2 or less runs.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) For awhile I felt the same, but then I thought that the players' silence and unwillingness to step up and get steroids out of the game puts every player under a cloud of suspicion. They brought this on themselves. Take someone like Luis Gonzalez. Nicest guy in the world. 57 home runs all of a sudden in 2001. Cashes in with big check. Did he? Didn't he? We may never know. Seems kind of fishy, though. Then you see some of the BALCO names - Randy Velarde and Marvin Bernard. Not big power hitters. Most of the minor leaguers named yesterday. Not big time prospects. Makes it seem as if Caminiti and Canseco are closer to telling the truth than Schilling, et al. I somewhat agree with your sentiments here. I still think it's asinine to pin a name to steroids with nothing solid to go on. And qwerty ... yes, a guy can just lose it. The pitching motion is an unnatural motion that does wear down parts of the shoulder and elbow structures. It happens, whether you want to admit it or not.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) How do you lose several miles per hour over night. Some will say he was overused but i don't think being overused will decrease your velocity that much and never have it come back? All that i am saying is it is a possibilty if alex was gonna break the all time bunt for a hit in one season sanchez is on steroids. Pitchers have been losing velocity for about ...oh ... a century. Nothing new with a guy losing some zip of his fastball. They just usually donm't stick around the big leagues.
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Alex sanchez. Whatever. It's asinine to throw out unfounded speculation and accusations.
-
QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) A guy on the radio here in AZ speculated that Koch was a steroid user, and that's why his velocity fell from mid 90s to high 80s. Might explain his lack of production lately. That's been speculated around here too. Of course, we all know Koch was a musclebound freak. :rolly

Rowand says there's no selfish players on the Sox
YASNY replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Yas and Steff, I misinterpreted/misread it. And, Yasny correctly stated that the writer implied that about Maggs/Valentin/Lee, not Rowand. Sorry for the confusion... That's all I was trying to do was clarify what was actually said by Rowand. It's so easy for a writer to take a quote out of context, or to twist a quote to their agenda by adding their own commentary to it. Even in this thread, I have seen people assuming Rowand was implying some negativity, when his quote was nothing but a positive spin on this year's team. -
QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Anyone else notice he talked about a sore back that has bothered him for 4 years? I cannot recall any mention of a back problem while he was offering batting practice in a White Sox uniform. I like the guy. He's an example of a great attitude guy with a major drop in effectiveness. I think everyone who has ever been fired, downsized, or felt in general screwed with by a corporation wishes they could go and cheer on the competition. I did notice that. I also don't recall any talk of a bad back.

Again, thanks to eveyone for the thoughts and prayers. We don't know yet how advanced this thing is or anything about a long term prognosis.

Interesting and entertaining. Good job hi8is.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Charlie Ward has always been a good defensive PG. I like him off the bench, kinda like Lindsey Hunter. You used to have guys like Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, DJ Dozier, Charlie Ward, etc. Nowadays, we have Joe Borchard and Drew Henson. I know that Ricky Williams was a high pick for the Philadelphia Phillies or whatever. There's another guy with unreal athletic skills. Don't forget Chad Hutchinson!

Rowand says there's no selfish players on the Sox
YASNY replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Basically ... what we are saying here is that the Sox are talking about playing together as a team, having the right attitude, wins are all that matters ... and the media is trying to put a negative spin on that. So f***ing typical. -
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) I don't think so... you are warned with ticket purchase to watch for flying bats and balls.. I understand that. But, so often, the legal system and some of these crackpot judges don't use logic and common sense. They twist the law to meet their own agendas.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) I missed that quote from Rowand.. can you post that part..? Thanks. We are on the same wavelength. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Why? Would it be any diff. than getting hit by a ball anywhere else in the park? I'm thinking it's because it is an area for kids ... and if one get hurt in that way, they'd claim negligence.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Hopefully the Dodger series, I know there is a strong possibility in that series for a tailgate as I know Steff, myself, Jason and hopefully Mr. 2K will be at at least one game at that series. We'd love to have you join us there. I know I'd love to ... but don't know that I can work that out.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) So now Ordonez is/was a bad guy in the clubhouse? Geez-- I realize that Mags didn't do a good job as far as his knee and being honest with us, but why badmouth him as far as the clubhouse? I thought he was the quiet guy who did everything, or most everything, right... This is getting out of hand. Let's move on... Rowand didn't say s*** about anyone ... the writer jumped to that conclusion. -
I knew Stumm has had a rough way to go, but WOW!

Thanks guys. You thoughts are appreciated.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Wow, I guess I'll become the number 1 Sox fan in Kentucky at that point. Then ... and ONLY then!
