Man, this is a child that is being used and manipulated by adults. He doesn't have the means to afford a legal advisor or financial advisor. If the adults would stop trying to climb on his coattails and set him up as their own future meal ticket, he'd be OK. I just wish they'd leave the kid alone and let him play some hoops.

i like where jerry talks about manos back in his old position at SS..i always got the feeling he was forced to play k-layton there by KW...i hope jerry just leaves manos on SS and doesnt tinker too much...if jose gets 140 games at SS...thats a big key to winning the central... Hey Baggs... I agree with you on this one! actually we agree alot i think..just lately we seem to differ a few things..but im always interested in your opinions...i like how you present you case for any point you are trying to make.. enough ass kissing Consider the respect as mutual.

I was lucky enough to watch the Sox and Wilson Alvarez beat the Kitties in old Tiger Stadium just before it was torn down. I look around a ballpark like that and think of names like Cobb, Greenberg, Kaline, Lolich, etc. The '68 Tigers were awesome.... Northrup, Freehan, Cash, Brown, McLain, Stanley... in fact, that group is one of my favorite non-Sox teams.

and we have a s*** load of talent coming in in all positions except for of course catching. I wonder if we can talk the Twins out of Mauer?

I think Mark would be a lot smarter if he would be quiet, but I can't blame him for feeling the way he does. Since he's stuck here for a few years, it would be best for him if he would keep his feelings to himself. It could really be a rough few years if he alienates the fans. Just ask Clayton!

When's the last time you heard someone call the Broncos stadium "Mile High"? New Comiskey will be called US Cellular Field on every broadcast of every game. I'm guessing that the nickname "The Cell", which has been mentioned on other threads, will stick.

If Borchard is not ready, and I highly doubt that he is, then we don't want to bring him up and screw up his head. Let him learn to cut down that swing in AAA. He'll have more success and that will keep his self-confidence in place.

Dude, You gou that right!!

I'm not saying he'll suck.... just that he's a known quantity. He'll win 10-12 games, lose 14-16 and have an ERA about 5.10, give or take .25.

There's a good column on Colon... HERE

First of all, I'm not upset. I just find it very easy to put myself in MB's shoes here. What KW did was petty, whether it was within the rules or not. Mark knows that Cardinals treat their players with class and diginity. Scott Rolen got a taste of it and signed without ever going on the free agent market. Big Mac did the same thing a few years ago, after being traded there in mid-season. The Sox make it a habit of disrespecting their players, unless they are one of JR's favorites.
-
Then he is no longer on my "must read" list.
-
Suppan's career ERA is over 5. You pitch that many innings if there is nobody better on your team.
-
What KW did to MB last season, salarywise, was "not classy" either.
-
ahh dont that take the f***ing cake... and to think we could have had him here.........damn it kw f***ed up again........... Not signing this was a f*** up?

Friday only, from what I read. He postponed a flight to attend the Soxfest. After which, he will go to pick up his Rolaids award.

A stadium built in 1910, or whenever, is going to be a dump. If I were the Red Sox and history was that important to them, which I doubt since their history sucks too and it's always about money, I'd figure out a way to play somewhere else for a season or two and rebuild Fenway right where it stands. Not remodel, or refurbish. Tear it down and start from scratch.

I'd have to consider 13 and 1/2 games a "clear cut advantage". At a mininum, you have to give the 4 AL playoff teams from last year their respect. Boston and Seattle are also both right there. The Sox aren't better than anyone (except the Cubs ) until it is proven on the field.

I was very interested in what Jim had to say about some of his teammates. You talk about inside information, that is it. As for Miles, if he is the best 2nd baseman we have, he should be in the lineup on opening day, regardless.

same thing in my books. you owe loyalty to the team that got you there. as a matter of law, and of business, not the same thing at all. I think if you were in MB's situation you'd feel differently. Loyalty goes both ways. KW could show some. ref to the law, he is sox property for 3 or 4 more yrs. ole well that is the breaks. i am different in my way of thinking on a lot of issues. first i am a mark b fan and wish him well. but when you start saying what he has, then i get a little put off. next i started this post to get the conversation goiing for the soxfest and to take up some lag time. but most importantly if i can change something in baseball, it would be the contract. lets have it as a performance laden contract where how you do determines your money. you do good then the money is good, if not then you don't get the money. saying what he said about going to stl is not b/c of the money, its b/c he wants to be there and as a fan, i say then if he doesn't want to be part of the team. trade him and lets get the best we can, and lets do this after this season. There is no way in hell I can fault Mark Buerhle for this.

I may be wrong about this, but I think Rauch will be better than Finley or Suppan this year, and just might give Rogers a run for his money.
-
That is one reason why it will never happen. If one of them thought that they might be able to have a civil exchange of ideas and baseball philosophies with reasonable that won't drop the F-bomb 3 times in every sentence, it's possible that one of them just might consider it. And Mac, I'm not singling you out here. But, if I were in either of those guys positions, there is no way that I'd post in here. I'd also like to welcome Jim Bullard to the board. I come in here and find out quite a bit above the players in the Sox minors from these people. In fact, this board has become my main source of information, with me being geographically removed from the Chicago area. Jim, I'm sure you'll enjoy this board.

I can't see KC trading Beltran to a team in their own division unless we make a seriously one sided offer. That is just shooting yourself in the foot. Also Beltran is going to be looking for a hefty contract and we are already looking at some arbitration for our rising stars in the next few years. I agree with you on both points. KC wouldn't trade within the division and we won't be able to sign Beltran. He's represented by Scott Boros and we have to take care of the talent we currently have.
