  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 10:26 AM) *headline from Jan 1 2019* the Browns fire entire front office following 1-15 season, extend Hue Jackson’s contract Would not be out of character for them.
  2. Suck to see Wolf leave Green Bay, but the Browns actually have some pretty good people running the show now. If that owner stays out it, they could have something.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 10, 2018 -> 08:51 AM) Is there a contractual reason that he hasn’t been in the league since he was fired in 2015? Seems strange He took a year off after being fired by the Browns and this past season he was working with the Seahawks as a consultant. I read he was with the Seahawks learning about their defensive scheme. Which is something else I like. That he has knowledge in a couple different types of defense.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 08:26 PM) GB gets Pettine. Looking like it’s still open for Fangio to come back. I'm excited about Pettine. Him and Rex Ryan put together some impressive defenses and didn't always have high end talent. It's like getting a sane Rex Ryan.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 12:54 PM) David Kaplan‏Verified account @thekapman 7h7 hours ago Source tells me the Indianapolis Colts were all in on hiring Matt Nagy. Uncertainty on health of Andrew Luck vs Mitchell Trubisky + Nagy’s belief the Bears roster is much better made decision for him. “Pace landed him by convincing him sunny days are ahead for the Bears.” I really hope Andrew Luck comes back. He is fun to watch. Would be a shame if that shoulder ended his career.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 12:36 PM) I think he wants to be a head coach. So while I think he enjoys Chicago and would benefit from having Nagy (and not a defensive guy like Fox) next to him, he also knows being with the Packers means you are going to be a playoff team every year and if your defense does decent, you are going to get a call to be a HC. Of course Don Capers was once thought of as an outstanding DC, so not sure what happened to him in Green Bay. Is it a coach issue or a talent issue (or even just an investment in the defense issue...as in they don't invest enough in their defense). At times I think Capers didn't have the talent in Green Bay, but I think at times they've had the talent to at least be a middle of road defense and were ranked near last in everything. I don't think Capers has adjusted as well to the modern game as someone like Fangio.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) NBC Sports Chicago‏Verified account @NBCSChicago 3h3 hours ago Bears will reportedly have to battle rival Packers for Vic Fangio's services: http://bit.ly/2EpDKIr If he is comfortable in Chicago and paid well, he probably stays. I'm sure thought of putting together even a half decent defense in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers means he gets a shot at winning the Super Bowl is something he will have to think about.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 9, 2018 -> 11:08 AM) It's more that Pace modeled (verbally) his ideal of making the Bears the Ted Thompson Packers which is now showing to be an obsolete model. Hopefully he is moving on and more open to Free Agent risks. Also here is a great Dan Durkin article for those subscribed to the athletic: https://theathletic.com/206764/2018/01/09/w...o-other-option/ I don't think the Ted Thompson model of draft and develop is an obsolete model. He just took it to an extreme. Teams that draft poorly and spend big money on free agents are usually bad. They may have one good year, but there isn't that long term success.
  9. If we are only going to have TV personalities as President, let's do it right. Guy Fieri for President. Welcome to flavor town America.
  10. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 05:12 PM) I thought Dez has 2 years left. You are right, two years left. Cap hit is actually 16.5 per year. No one is trading for that.
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 11:37 AM) Supposedly, he was the one who called plays first half, but who knows. Don't base your judgement on him on one game though. FYI, Lovie Smith when he was the D coordinator for the Rams, allowed 452 yards in his last game before the Bears hired him. Also Nagy has facial hair (stache). That's good juju for Chicago championship teams right there. It was just one game. I still can't figure out why with a 21-3 lead at half time. He only gave his RB (who happens to be the rushing leader) four carries in the second half. First carry went for 9 yards. Yuck.
  12. Bears could just make him the highest paid D coordinator in the league. That's probably one way to keep him before he hits the open market tomorrow.
  13. If he is the guy that did the play calling in the first half against the Titans, he might be good. If he is the guy that did the play calling in the 2nd half, he might be bad.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 10:06 AM) Oh and I forgot to mention this yesterday but Cam Newton had no business being back in that game at the end without passing concussion protocol. Dude couldn't even walk straight while heading off the field, fell down, and they attributed it to his mask. That hit it took was pretty brutal. It kinda of came from nowhere, so I don't think he had time to brace for it.
  15. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 8, 2018 -> 01:55 AM) Being a casual football fan, and a Cowboys fan...does trading Dez Bryant for a collection of draft picks make any sense? And does he have much value due to his big dollars contract? Guys at work were discussing how the Browns have 4 top 35 picks in 2018, and how they could really jump start their rebuild by trading a couple of them for a high end WR to pair with their "presumable" 1st RD pick QB. Does trading Dez Bryant for a couple of their 2nd RD picks make any sense for either team? I like Dez, but I just feel like him and Dak are never in sync. The offense will go through Elliot. Why not trade Dez for some draft picks to either bolster the OL, or get some defensive studs. Are 2 2nd RD picks too much? A 2nd and a 3rd? Honestly not sure how to value Dez due to his contract, but the Browns having SO many picks seems to be a viable trading partner. Bryant only has one year left on his deal and it's for 12.5 million. Not a crazy contract number, but the problem is that he really isn't that good anymore. You are not getting a 2nd or 3rd round pick from a team. Not for an aging player that hasn't had a thousand yard season in three years. Dallas has cap issues and if they want to bring Demarcus Lawrence back they may have to cut Bryant. So maybe you could talk a team into giving you a 6th round pick or something like that. Dallas also has to sign Zac Martin to a long term deal this year and he is going to be the highest paid guard in the NFL. Browns have plenty of draft picks and cap space. They could just draft a young WR and then sign someone like Allen Robinson.
  16. Me too. I was kinda just catching pieces about Trump supposedly watching a gorilla channel. I was like that's not so bad.
  17. He should be GM as well. He can bring that toughness back to the Bears.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:15 AM) so everything is not hunky-dory in New England anymore Has to end at some point right? If the Patriots kicked out Bill Belichick, something tells me he would try and get a job with a rival team. He seems the vengeful type.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 11:56 AM) i just cant help but think about McDaniels going to denver, getting the job, and immediately deciding to launch what was then a third year pro bowl QB after he got the job. Could you imagine if that happened in Chicago? He did draft Tebow though. So it wasn't a complete disaster. He only had to trade the Broncos 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks to get him. That is nothing.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 10:28 AM) Who knows? Pete Carroll was pretty much a flop until he wasn't. It was 3 years ago most thought John Fox was a really good idea. Maybe you have to be lucky as well. His staff is going to be important as well. I still think the key considering Trubisky is now basically thought of as the franchise by the front office, is going to be the OC. I don't think most people thought John Fox was a good idea, but I get your point and agree. It's just tough to tell who will be a good coach and who won't. Same goes with college players, you have some what of an idea, but who really knows.
  21. First season of Twin Peaks is one of the best things to ever be on TV. You have to know what it is though. People either love David Lynch or hate his stuff.
  22. It's a tough question. I don't quite get the McDaniels love. He has a good offensive mind, but it's not like Brady struggled without him. Also, McDaniels had arguably one of the worst runs at head coaching. He was a complete disaster. Not saying he won't be better next time. It would just make me really nervous to hire him.
  23. Not saying they won't be good coaches, but I would be nervous hiring anyone from the Patriots staff. It has a rough track record.
  24. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Moron in Chief said it's cold outside on the east coast so climate change isn't real. Congratulations to everyone who voted for someone with the mind of a 4-year-old. It's not just him when it comes to this. Every year when it gets cold outside some brain genius uses this.
