  1. A loss like tonight is a prime example of how fatal a bad start is. Normally, a loss like tonight sucks, but you can say hey it was against a really good team desperate for a win (Dallas), and the Bulls hung real close despite not making shots. Problem is, the bad start means you CAN'T LOSE HOME GAMES, and tonight was a killer.
  2. I hate the 1972 Dolphins, and with that said, the Patriots are amazingly lucky. I mean the damn game was over but for the Ravens calling a timeout and killing their own clinching play. Wow.
  3. I actually really like this move, Quentin could be a solid everyday LF if he's healthy IMO, and although Chris Carter is a pretty good prospect and I hate giving up one of the few of those we have left, I think this move could really work out well.
  4. LSU will win. The current version of LSU would lose to Ohio State, but by early January, Glenn Dorsey, Matt Flynn, Early Doucet, and Craig Steltz will all be 100 percent, and although that won't turn them back into the LSU team that beat Virginia Tech 48-7, it will be enough to beat Ohio State in what is basically a home game for the Tigers.
  5. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) Amazing Joe Gibbs didn't know about the 10 men on defense thing. More amazing is that he didn't know you can't call back to back timeouts, and might have lost his team the game turning a 51 yard FG into a 36 yarder. He should be fired after this season, it amazes me that he was once an awesome coach, because he's been clueless since he came back.
  6. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) You are crazy. USC will destroy Illinois. Their offense is clicking on all levels right now, and should've been given the chance to play for the National Title. After the Rose Bowl, people will clamor for a +1 game (if not an actual playoff), wondering what would happen if USC played Ohio St or LSU. Even if USC wins, Georgia and Oklahoma are still vastly superior teams, so I think you need to slow down on the doses of Troy kool aid. And I apparently get a different TV reception than you do, because the USC offense has been awful for 9 weeks now, with the exception of the Arizona State game. That group (the USC offense) might be the biggest dissapointment in college football this season when you consider their talent.
  7. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 02:05 PM) radio in gainesville is reported jarred fayson to illinois. Ahh he decided to go to Illinois last week, which is why last week the Gators gave him a release from his scholly, maybe I should post info here when learn it. Anyways, it's a nice pickup, he's a talented WR. He'll be able to redshirt in 2008 and will have 2 years to play 2 years after that.
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) Huh? Is that hate for Tebow personally? He is having a season that no other player has had in college football Tebow is the best player in college football and deserves the Heisman, but to say he's having a season like no other in college football ever is a bit of a *Hawk* STRETCH!! */Hawk*. The only reason Tebow is having a season like this is (1) Florida has no running backs, so Tebow has to do the work inside the 5, where almost all of his TD runs have come from and (2) He's amazingly tough and thus, can take the punishment on all the TD runs and runs in general. And btw, going back to last night, I meant that was the worst OKLAHOMA team this decade, which it was (the 2005 OU team was better, they just didn't go to a BCS game because of Vince Young).
  9. QUOTE(Shadows @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) Im sure a lot of people thought that OU was going to destroy Boise State last year as well.. thats why I am interested in that game, because you don't really know whats gonna happen. Of course everyone thinks that Georgia is gonna tear them a new asshole but I wouldn't be shocked to see Hawaii win the game. Boise State was a vastly superior team to Hawaii this year, and Georgia is a lot better than the down OU team that Boise got to face. I see your point, but last years Boise win was a fluke, not only with the way they won, but also with their once in a lifetime good team that got to face the worst OU team of this entire decade.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 12:59 PM) Jeff, I hope the Illinis play USC so I can see the Illini get the absolute s*** kicked out of them. The Big 10 was so bad this year, its a joke that they'll have 2 BCS teams (Illinois is not deserving of a BCS bid). Illinois doesn't deserve a BCS bid, as much as I love them and hope they win, but USC is not very good, and I'm not sure where you got the idea they'll beat on Illinois. Their shockingly bad offense will overshadow Illinois' mediocre defense, and the 190 rush yards they gave up to Oregon and only 2 wins against winning teams fly red flags.
  11. KU plays great defense and dominates the glass, plus showed they can win without shooting well today in a tough enviornment against a really good team, I must say I'm impressed. There are two problems for KU though, they have no depth and had 6 assists and 22 turnovers today, that won't get it done long term. Also, Texas appears to have a team good enough to overcome the horrible in game coach that is Rick Barnes, and Arizona is very underrated.
  12. QUOTE(Shadows @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) This is what I am interested in.. Illinois VS. USC I think Illinois can win.. USC only beat two teams with winning records and lost to an Oregon team who runs the spread and has a mobile QB. I said I THINK they can win, im not calling it. OU VS. West Virginia If Pat White is healthy, should be a good game. Georgia VS. Hawaii Looking to see how Hawaii does against a legit team. I think they could beat Georgia, the spread is just tough to stop. Michigan VS. Florida Only wanna see Michigan get crushed. Illinois vs. USC will be like a 24-20 type game I believe, but I'm not sure who will have what score, I hope Juice already has a tape of the Oregon/USC game though. OU is going to do bad things to WVU with the letdown effect West Virginia will have from blowing the backyard brawl, plus OU has the speed to stop the WVU spread. Michigan is going to get killed, and Hawaii will too. They haven't played anybody, and their one dimensional spread will have major issues with the SEC speed. Plus, Moreno and Thomas Brown will have a field day on the ground.
  13. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) Missouri is ok, they will always have their love of meth labs, and their historic belief that slavery was a good thing. HAHA ouch, but your points are well taken.
  14. The best part of Illinois in the Rose Bowl is they avoid Georgia, Oklahoma, and Florida, who are all better teams than USC is by far, and certainly worse matchups for Illinois. It's a very good matchup for Illinois, as their weakness (defense) will be offset by the bewilderingly poor offense of USC, and the USC strength of defense will be put to the test against the Illini offense. Should be a great game, and WOW Missouri got screwed, poor guys. It's a shame Hawaii and Kansas made the BCS by avoiding playing anybody, but hey this system does suck, so it happens. As for the best teams....I have thought all year Oklahoma was the best team I've seen and I stand by it. Georgia is getting close though since they started playing Moreno, I still think Florida is better than LSU, and Ohio State would struggle to make my top 10 of best teams I've seen. Ohio State has a shot against LSU though, this year is the worst to not have a playoff since the 2 teams playing for the title are nowhere near the best 2 teams IMO. The problem for Ohio State is Dorsey is going to be healthy for the game, and he can by himself ruin the inside running game, and Beanie won't be able to get outside on their defense.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:24 AM) It's virtually assured.... Their other choices are ASU (they don't want a Pac 10 conference game), Hawaii (No chance), Kansas (Hawaii of the midwest), WVU (coming off a loss to Wanny). The only danger is if UGa is in the championship. OSU will be one, giving Rose the first replacement pick... and the most lucrative matchup would be LSU-USC, which might be better than the championship game) Yeah, and UGa is out since they were not even in the SEC Title game. Illinois is in the Rose Bowl, it's just a shame that it has to be sweated out like this due to the joke that is Hawaii (and to a lesser extent, Kansas).
  16. I can't decide what Hawaii win impresses me most vs. FCS Northern Colorado (who went 1-11): 63-6 at 5-7 Louisiana Tech: 45-44 at 2-10 UNLV: 49-14 vs. FCS Charleston Southern (who went 5-6): 66-10 at 1-11 Idaho: 48-10 vs. 2-10 Utah State: 52-37 at 5-7 San Jose State: 42-35 in OT vs. 4-9 New Mexico State: 50-13 vs. 8-4 Fresno State: 37-30 at 6-6 Nevada: 28-26 vs. 10-2 Boise State: 39-27 vs. 4-9 Washington: 35-28 Joliet Catholic would have probably gone 10-2 with that schedule, although I give them credit for escaping against Boise and Fresno, only since they got to play them on the island. The fact this team is in the BCS is a classic reason why the BCS should cease to exist.
  17. HAHA, that ending is why Hawaii has no buisness in a BCS game. I hope they enjoying their ass widening from whatever vastly superior team they play.
  18. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 11:50 PM) 4 people in custudy born in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990. They're all just kids, how tragic at least 5 lives including Sean Taylor's are ruined. Not really, more like at least 4 horrible human beings are off the street at a young age before they can do further damage. The more people like these 4 off the streets, the better place they are. Not like anything will ever really get fixed though, Jesse and Al are too worried about getting the white people for their word crimes to pay attention to real issues.
  19. Well if today taught you anything, it is this: Don't play anybody. Kansas did it and is going to be rewarded with a BCS bid, Ohio State did it and is going to be #1 tomorrow, and Hawaii did it and it is going to send a team that would go 7-5, 8-4 at best in a BCS league to a BCS game without a loss. Gotta love this system.
  20. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) This is an amazing post. I also saw the rumor (likely true) is that Clinton Portis (who, besides family, is probably the closest to Taylor) is gonna change his number from 26 to 21 in honor of him. Yeah, I heard that too, it'd be nice if the NFL lets him do that. I just wish people understood the culture of Miami moreso. People have such a misconception too of DA U, it's really not about the school as much as it is the city. The whole reason the alunmi and players of Miami (FL) are so close are the vast majority of them are from Miami/Dade and grew up in very poor areas and the players can just relate to the struggles each other have gone through. And the idea of "Thug U" is nonsense too, the only reason the kids that make it to Coral Gables get that far is being able to avoid the streets, there have been many talents in Liberty City and Carol City and Homestead and so on that never got to college because of the company they kept. The saddest part is you look at Bryan Pata and Sean Taylor and the stories are similar. You have young, great football talents who by all accounts were trying to turn their lives for the better even moreso than they already had, and both are killed almost hitman style and it seems like the whole reason people took their lives is because of jealously and not liking the fact that these two guys wanted to better themselves, like the streets thing they are sellouts or something for having success. It's like the sucessful alumnums and students of the Canes football empire are being punished for being so loyal to where they came from, and although I admit maybe they should "ditch the bad crowd", it's still not right that they are victims in large part because they are loyal to their hood, even if their hood is a very bad place. I could go on and on here, but this is just so sad and will be more sad as details of what happened become more clear.
  21. It's just part of a sick cycle that is so hard to explain, yet you know it when you see it. It's even sadder when you see it seems Sean was trying to turn his life around, but South Florida can be a VERY dangerous place, especially if you have a problematic past, because bad people never forget and always seem to seek out revenge. I always want to say that these guys need to learn to disassociate themselves from the bad people and bad neighborhoods, but I would assume it can't just be that easy to forget everything you knew growing up, which is why this issue is really much bigger, and is about just how sad and out of control violence is on the streets. I just wish Taylor would have more intensly heeded the warning a week ago when the robbers left a knife on the bed, maybe he'd still be here. RIP.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) Cedric Benson out for the year. Not a surprise, get ready for the Garrett Wolfe show!!! In all seriousness though, officially add RB to the incredibly long list of Bears needs this offseason.
  23. NIU football coach Joe Novak is retiring today, there is a press conference at 3 pm to make it official and he's told the team. It's a damn shame he's leaving after his only losing season this entire decade (and 6 of the 10 losses were by a touchdown or less, despite the team having over 2 dozen players from the 2 deep get injured and only 9 seniors, so that's even deceptive), but he left the program in about 1,000 times better shape than he found it. Hopefully, his 2 wishes are honored in 2008, as a team that should be very healthy and definitely talented has a shot at that elusive MAC Title, and subsequently hopefully we finally get the football team their indoor practice faciility in DeKalb. I am VERY interested to see where the coaching search leads, I'd be lying if I said I had any clue in terms of names right now. I know one thing though, there are only 10 open scholarships in this recruiting class so it's a small class either way, thus I hope our really good athletic director, Jim Phillips, takes his time and finds the right guy.
  24. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 12:41 AM) Local news here saying Ferentz has been offered the Michigan job. Better yet, conjecture on MGoBlog that he may have accepted. Yep, people close to the program in Chambana are saying the reason Ellington and Ford jumped ship is Ferentz is doing the same.
  25. I can't blame Skiles for this, the current Bulls mess goes directly onto the desk of John Paxson, as DBAHO put so well in particular with the 2 blatent errors of taking Ben over AI and Tyrus over LaMarcus, 2 moves that even the dumbest people on earth (me) knew were mistakes. Plus, if you have AI and LaMarcus, voila!! the 2 guard and inside scoring problems aren't there anymore. Skiles and the players obviously share the blame, but the majority of it HAS to be on Paxson between those things and other factors like the Ben Wallace and Andres Nocioni albatrosses.....errr contracts. Put that one squarely in the "karma is a b****" category. Good to see what goes around still comes around.
