FINALLY ump....1 out.

Danks has had 2 strikeouts called balls this inning. This should not be as bad a spot.

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) What happened to Hawk? He's giving Erstad a massage.

Jeremy Sowers is going to fall to 1-6 with a 6.63 ERA today, and I thought he was supposed to be good. 0 for 53, inning over, the big 3 with another great inning.

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) So who's our best option for the 6th or 7th inning right now, assuming we still have the lead? Masset? Logan? Do you stretch Thornton for two innings, or Jenks, more than one? I'd be shocked if Aardsma or MacDougal are used. It's going to be Masset I would think. 0 for 52 on a popup to 1st on a 3-1 pitch.

71 pitches through 4 for Danks. Not good at all, and wow it's sad we are up 3-0 going to the 5th and i'd stil be shocked if we win since our starter is only going 6 or 7 tops.

Wow is that guy slow, but that's a heck of a double play anyways by Uribe and Gooch.

Clever stolen base by Juan right there. I hope we get no hits the rest of the game but win. I want to see this number get really high, maybe the hitting coach or manager or GM might notice. 0 for 50, inning over.

Jerry does a great Pods impression at taking a fastball right down the middle for strike 3. 0 for 49

The White Sox are hitting .208 against lefties this year, good for 30th in baseball. The 29th place team is 18 points ahead of us. Uribe walks, bizarre. Random question: Does reaching on an error count for your on base percentage? Like if you reach on an error your first at bat of the year, do you have a 1.000 OBP or 0? I think I know this but I want to be sure, and same question about reaching on a fielders choice.

The Armchair GM Thread
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) Kenny has had almost no part in the drafts the last few years, so good try. As for Crede, who knows what the hell we would have got for him if we traded for him, and Fields would be sucking majorly at the plate right now as well, not to mention playing average at best defense at third. It honestly is just one of those years where everything is going wrong(hell, even with everything going completely wrong, we're still actually in the wild card race). Unfortunately, this s*** happens. None of us are happy about it but Keith is right, there just wasn't a whole lot Kenny really could have done in the offseason to make the team THAT much better. First of all, if Kenny has no parts in the draft, then he's doing a lousy job either not taking more of it onto himself or hiring better scouts, but that was a quality effort to defer blame. All personnel comes back to the GM obviously. I see your point on him not being able to make this team that much better, but we got basically one pitching prospect for Garcia, which is not acceptable. And I love your assumption that the guy who hit nearly .500 last month in AAA wouldn't be doing a better job than Crede. If the translation cut his average in half to .250 in May, he'd have been way better than Joe.

NICE, 2 high heaters and Glaus whiffs to end the trouble.

I have the Charlotte game on on here too. I'll keep updated on what pitchers are used, I assume we won't use anybody that could or will be called up tomorrow.

NICE changeup and Wells takes a seat.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) That's not a swing...it was the follow-thru after being hit. Nice to see both managers of Chicago getting ejected when the umps make the right call. Danks is playing with fire today though. Even if he didn't swing, he made no movement at all to get out of the way.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) I think it's very possible he'll get called up, probably replacing Gonzalez. I'd like to see him get the start against Igawa tomorrow. If he isn't called and he's actually just got a day off today, I blame you for getting my hopes up .

Overbay was begging for a reason to not have to keep hitting. Not only did he swing at that, he didn't try to get out of the way. How pathetic. Uh oh, Ozzie gets the heave ho and he's not happy. This isn't Pinella-esque but he's really not happy.

Random note: Josh Fields with the day off today. Does it mean he's one of the changes tomorrow? No, but I can dream right. We're fortunate that didn't get out of here, and darn almost had him at 2nd.

Crede should patent the lazy popup in general and the popup to the right side more specifically. I've never seen a guy pop it up more than he does, and that goes back to when he first got to the Sox.

Nice work Joe, lol. Marcum at 70 pitches through 3 innings, that 0 for 47 streak might get a long extension today.

I got a phone call and missed Thome's homer. Nice to see he went yard, was it a classic Thome shot?

Nice play by Wells, although that's a dangerous effort because if it gets by him it's 2-0 and a little league home run.
