  1. The obvious ex-juicer Abreu is as bad a player as there is in the game right now. You can't let him have an RBI double and walk Jon, that's like a bullpen giving us a hit.
  2. How did this group of clowns win 2 of 3 at Boston? I guess you really do throw out the records and rosters for rivalry games.
  3. The announcers have mentioned that at least 3 hitters are "trying too much to pull the ball". That's not Greg Walker's fault though, it's not like he preaches that. I swear, if you had gave Walker a few year with Tony Gwynn, he'd have seen the overexaggerated shift in his career. Gooch narrowly misses error #2 right there.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Fixed. I figured he'd k so it's only be 2. He outdid himself making contact. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) 1 for 66 or something........ It's for sure 1 for 66. We ended 0 for 61 on the double, then 3 straight outs, now a double play.
  5. Rack 'em up and 1 for 66. You got your 3, go get 'em Jon!
  6. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) I know Desalvo sucks but that is a quick hook. It's amazing how Torre burns out his bullpen every year. Agreed, and it's not like he's getting hit hard at all. He should have been out of this inning with 1 run tops.
  7. 1 for 65 on the line. Keep up the good work against bullpens guys. Thome vs. a lefty, 2 outs.
  8. Well there is freebie run #2 (and you could debate #3 since Paulie would have been toast at home). Nice to get a run on a hit though.
  9. Man, the Yankees have done the impossible and actually looked worse than us so far, you'd swear they've never seen rain. And DJ, Crede may be a horrible baseball player right now, but get off the tracks when the train is coming through.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) Lots of scouts seem to think he wants to go play SS for the Cubs next year. A choker like him would be a perfect fit.
  11. The Magic should show some balls and not let Donovan out of the deal. He did sign it.
  12. HAHAHAHAHAHA. It's Dana Altman part 2, only now an NBA Franchise is involved.
  13. Matt Millen thinks Morton is DEFINITELY a f** after this.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) We acquired him via trade. Hmm ok, changed signed to trade for in my comment then.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 09:02 PM) Frazier seems like he could be a good fit, but does he project to be a light hitting middle infielder? Rutgers plays him at short, but he's a pretty big fella, 6'4 or 6'5 and about 225 pounds, hence some project him at 3rd. He has 22 homers and 22 doubles this year with a .766 slugging percentage and .381/.505 BA and OBP split (1.271 OPS). He's 25 for 30 in steals and has 2 triples as well, and a 60/49 BB/K rate in 239 at bats.
  16. I could see us having Dye or Hunter, but not both.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) If we sent down Gonzalez to call up Perez....I quit! I bet that is what is happening. You knew Tomas was coming as soon as we signed him, Ozzie can't resist. If it's Wilson that's ok, and that wouldn't surprise me either.
  18. We won't spend to keep Dye and Hunter with the attendance drop we have the 2nd half IMO, I'd rather see Egbert in the pen than Donnelly, and Figgins and Erstad in the same lineup will make me hurl. It's still too early for me to even come up with something like that, but I can see most of that happening.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) We need middle infielders, badly. Like BearSox said, we've got a few good pitching arms, but we really have no one in the middle infield that has done much. Yeah MIF help is the #1 concern right now by about a mile, but this isn't the greatest draft to try and find help there. There are a lot of directions we could head with this pick, a lot depends on what everybody before us does.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) Why has Burgess fallen so far? If he's still around, I have no problem taking a high ceiling pick with a possible 40 homer a year outfielder. I was going to say that because we need an OF with big time power potential, but I have strong doubts as to if he'll actually be there. I'd take him if he were though.
  21. I'd like to see us take Weathers from Vandy. Yes he does turn 22 a week from today, but he has the nasty kind of stuff our system needs an infusion of, and his age and college experience would put him on a faster track I would assume. Then again, that all depends on what HS power arms are stiil there when we pick. If some fall, that changes the dynamic. I like LaPorta, but he's a 1B/DH exclusive type guy. Yes we need position help more than pitching help, but we'd be better off taking somebody like Frazier from Rugers or a power arm (we still need more power arms) than LaPorta IMO.
  22. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19012441/ He got his ass kicked by the ex comedian/talk show host he fought by 1 huge punch 38 seconds in. He was out cold, put on a stretcher, put in the neck brace, the whole 9 yards. Here it is, hurry before youtube removes it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTd2po3z5xw
  23. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) I laughed at Baseball Prospectus' preseason prediction when they had the Sox at 72-90 and in 4th. Looking at this team now, they are spot on. Scary. They had us at 72-90 due to bad starting pitching, and had Thome/Konerko/Dye all having very good years and a good bullpen for us. Their record and placement might be right, but their logic behind it isn't.
  24. MacDougal and Aardsma should both be sent down. If nothing else, the postgame show on Comcast renews my faith that 3/4 of Sox fans aren't stupid.
