  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Yep. Ahh it doesn't change how great 2005 was. I just remember why I hated Kenny from 2001-2004 now, because he sucks.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) We? I don't take the field, do you? Our offense? Again, I don't play for the White Sox and I didn't know you did either. So you think Walker had/has everything to do with the suck part of the offense and nothing to do with the awesome part? If that is the case then yes he should be fired. Players should only get credit for the awesome part and the hitting coach should get all of the credit for the suck part. I totally agree with you - fire him immediately. YOu have changed my mind. You have made every point the dumb fan ever makes to defend bad. Congrats, you are the stereotype Cub fan. I'm sure Walk could fix their problems, unless of course the players don't want him to. It is all on the players, after all, just like it's all on the employees at your job.
  3. I didn't think it would be possible for us to get worse, but that move would do the trick.
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) KW, bringing back good old memories of why he sucked... 2005 really was a fluke wasn't it? I never wanted to call it that, but it's the truth.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) That answer is ridiculous. Are you telling me other teams adjusted and the Sox haven't adjusted back? By the way, what is your batting average? I don't think I have seen you out there hitting. Just asking. Your not making points, your just blaming the players. It doesn't work that way, if it did coaches wouldn't exist. And what does my batting average have to do with anything, it's not my fault they aren't hitting. It's all on the players, right?
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Are you honestly comparing Terry Bevington and Jerry Manuel to good coaches? I don't have a reason for you - I am sure those situations are different. I don't see this situation the same. Why don't you tell me why those were fired. I think Walt Hriniak was having trouble getting through and relating to some players if I recall correctly. That is a reason to be fired. Is this the case with Walker? Do you know the reasons the others were fired? Please shed some light on the situation for me please oh great and knowledgable one. You have yet to make a point why Walker should still be employed. You just keep blaming the players and pointing out how last year we were so awesome, when in reality our offense the last 3 months sucked and was a big reason why we sat at home in October.
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) I don't know how I would handle it, but I wouldn't fire Walker because veteran hitters who hit well before are not hitting under the same hitting coach. That is assinine. Why did these same exact players hit well last year? Any reason? Can you riddle me that bat man? Turn it right back around and tell me why it is the hitting coach's fault in this instance. I;m just curious on your logic that it is the hitting coach's fault when the same players and hitting coach were here a year ago and hit well. As soon as you explain to me when it IS the hitting coaches fault. I have answered some of your questions, you ignore mine since you have no defense for Walker. Btw, why did we NOT hit the 2nd half last year and miss the playoffs? Oh yeah, it's because the first half of the year lift and pull worked and the 2nd half other teams adjusted and our hitting coaches philosophy didn't.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Why is it the hitting coach's fault? They hit the last couple years under Walker didn't they? Do you think he is telling them to do something different? So you think firing Walker is the solution? You think they are going to get their heads out of their asses and start to hit once Walker is gone? Why would that be? So all these players hit good last year and they can't hit this year under the same hitting coach, except for A.J. because he is a myopic pull and lift hitter (which he has been since he signed here by the way). Maybe those other guys were idiots and that is why they fired him. How do I know? I was not around that team or in the clubhouse. How do you know? What can a hitting coach do to deserve being fired? Is it EVER his fault? I'm just curious, your logic is an everlasting blame of the players after all. The coaches don't go between those lines and play.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Bad ones need to go sure. Tell me, since I am so ignorant, how Walker is at fault for Konerko, Dye, and Thome going 0-50 and for Crede hitting like crap. As soon as you figure that out please post that little gem. Well when your team is last in baseball in every major offensive, can't hit the ball the other way, can't score men from 3rd with 0 outs, and has a payroll more than the Devil Rays....it might be a sign your hitting coach isn't doing a damn thing worth anything. I can't REALLY make an argument here though, no matter what I say, you'll fall back to the ignorant "it's on the players" crutch. I'm not sure why I am even responding actually. What would YOU do to fix this? Fire all the players? Good luck, and who would replace them? We going to put Rogowski at 1st? QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) In 05 the Indians hit like crap, not as bad as this disaster. But bad. They fired Murray and just took off. That was a coincidence. They started hitting because the players grinded more and tried harder, hitting coaches don't affect anything, it's all on the players. lol.
  10. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) So you're saying that Konerko, Dye, and Crede aren't very good? That's a winning argument if I've ever heard one. This may come as a surprise to you, but in the real world, people need to take responsiblity for their own lack of execution. If I don't pay attention to what I'm doing at work and don't produce, it's not my boss' fault. It's my fault for having my head up my ass. Similarly, it wasn't Kenny's fault when Paulie and JD hit near the Mendoza Line for the first month and a half of the season. So then it's Greg Walker's fault? I can see that. Then again, experienced veterans like Dye and Paulie should be able to hit .250 with a freaking tax attorney posing as their hitting coach. lmao. And yes, I'm saying Dye is old and Crede isn't having a fluke career year at the dish like last year. I'm not sure what is up with Konerko, but that's 1 guy. I'm glad Greg Walker and Kenny Williams PR director posts here though. If we lose 100 games someday, should those 2 still have a job? It's not their fault after all, it's on the players for losing the games. And the comparison between your job and major league baseball, BRILLIANT. Hell there is no difference between the office you work in and the Chicago White Sox.
  11. Wow somebody defending Greg Walker. Now I've seen it all. I love it though, when in doubt, use the generic "blame the players!" arguement. Based on that bit of ignorance though, no coach or GM should ever lose their job, they aren't playing the game!! *rolls eyes* QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Where is the armchair owner thread? KW needs to go. Of course he does, but that's the other thread I started lol.
  12. I don't see a point where Pods and Erstad are ever both healthy at the same time, so I can't see that ever being an issue. If one of them gets healthy, I tell Rob to take a seat. I'd prefer Erstad healthy and Owens be good so we can hit Erstad 7th or so where he belongs and at least we have some speed that gets on base hitting leadoff in that senario. I know Pods started well, but I just want him to go away. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:42 PM) Fire Ozzie and our problems are solved. I can't think of a senario where our problems are solved until 2009 or 2010.
  13. Charlotte is at Indianapolis at 6 PM. Haeger vs. TBA Birmingham hosts Tennessee at 6:15 PM. Kris Honel (2-2, 4.83) vs. Justin Berg (2-2, 5.48) Winston-Salem hosts Lynchburg at 6 PM. Kannapolis is at Greenville at 6 PM.
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Yep, Kenny must be drugging his Cheerios every morning. And Cotts did a lot this season to show that Kenny made the wrong decision in the Aardsma trade. :oldrolleyes When will Soxtalk ever put blame on the players for not performing? My guess is never. When the players are not performing for a period of 9 weeks, it's because they aren't very good. When the players are not very good it's on the guy that brought them here, the GM. When will the Soxtalk merryman every realize this and put blame on KW? My guess is never. Have a nice day.
  15. If the choice is one of those 2 and death is not an option....I still choose death. If death STILL isn't an option, I pick Aardsma. At least he won't walk 10 people in a row and maybe we get luck and they hit 3 "hang whiffems" in a row.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) I really hope KW doesn't overpay for some mediocre veteran reliever like Weathers. Hell, trade Crede for Lidge, and give him a shut as our set-up man. You know he will. Kenny is going to completely screw up what should be white flag and replenish the organization times.
  17. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) Everyone knew this was going to happen. KW needs to do something about this NOW. Unless he wants to just give up, he needs to get some different arms now. Mac and Aardsma are absolutely terrible. Wheres our Neshek? Hey that was MY question first.
  18. Pinella went crazy on the umps and the sheep littered the field? AND I MISSED IT!!
  19. I know EVERYBODY has thoughts on how to fix this, post them here. Ok, my idea won't fix anything, but at least it might help. Call up Prinz, Bukvich, Vasquez Send down MacDougal, Aardsma, and Day Owens in CF hitting leadoff everyday, platoon Terrero and Mackowiak in LF. Find a way to get Crede to go away, and put Fields at 3B. Let Masset pitch more out of the bullpen, and don't do anything nuts like call up Gio when he's not ready, same for Broadway (although they are way different guys). Ok, your turn.
  20. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) *Sigh* And it would have been an atrocious move if he gives up a grand slam. You people give Ozzie way too much blame, and sometimes almost none to the players themselves who clearly deserve the bulk of it... I thought it was brilliant at the time. That is a bad spot as is, bring in the guy who has pitched out of plenty of bad spots and see how it goes.
  21. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) I have never liked the way Oz has handled the bullpen even in 05 I will admit when Oz went to get El Duque in game 3 of the LDS I wanted to kill him His mistake was letting Marte come in and load the bases. The El Duque move was brilliance.
  22. Gio isn't ready. Don't compound the problem by rushing him.
  23. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) Have we used Masset since his start against the Cubs? One time.
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) is it 0-50 or 0-47? Either way it's terrible. 0-50. It was 0-44 entering today and their pen threw 2 perfect. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) I actually think this has been Ozzie's best year as a manager, albeit the last couple games have not been as good. Has he made some mistakes, sure, but every manager does, and I think the main issue with the blown 10 games is the fact that this is one of the worse pens in baseball over the past few years. Agreed.
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) Quick question: do you find no fault with Ozzie for blowing 10 games with late leads? He's made some bad moves, but even if he makes the right moves in those games, our pen blows it, just a different guy does the deed.
