White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 6/02/07 (L)

A walk to Frank and bringing in Logan or Thornton to face Stairs wouldn't be the worst thing in the world here. -

To be fair, Overbay is .345 against lefties and .212 against righties this year. So to bring in a righty for Overbay and Frank (similar splits) makes perfect sense, but WHY WHY WHY is it Macdougal? -

And that's the ballgame. Ozzie's use of MacDougal this year is a fireable offense in itself. -
There are 2 really good Northern Illinois HS guys I can think of. Seth Blair from Rock Falls (not too far from the Quad Cities) is the best one I know of. He's signed to pitch at Arizona State (6'2 190 righty) but he might get drafted high enough to skip that. He throws from 90 to 94 at like a 3/4 point release and has a nasty sinker, or at least that's what I've seen the 3 times I saw him pitch in person. Casey Crosby is a 6'4 lefty from Kaneland that is a late bloomer due to injury, but throws in the low 90's and is a great athlete (runs the 60 yard dash in under 7 seconds). He is probably the best HS prospect in this state, he is signed to play at Illinois but I doubt he ever makes it down there. He's another guy I've seen in person a few times, and his stuff isn't quite as good as Blair's, but he still throws 91 consistently, and you can't teach the numbers of 18 years old, 6'4, and left handed. Those are the only 2 really good prospects in Illinois I know of, but somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, which I probably am knowing me.

Going to the 7th leading 3-1. Count has done very well today, especially considering his stuff hasn't been very crisp. Jose and McGowan each at 97 pitches through 6 innings. -

Wow that was a pathetic half inning. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) When are the big 3 going to start hitting. This is getting f***ing silly now. Slumps dont from Opening day going into June. Thome will be fine, he's just slumping recently. Dye and Konerko are a problem though. -

Thank goodness, gotta get some breaks to win games. I'll take it. -

Wow that hit the front row of the 5th deck, and was foul by maybe 5 feet. What a stroke of good fortune for us. -

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) Did I hear right during pregame 0 FOR THE LAST 41 VS opposing teams bullpen Yessir you did, which might be more pathetic than the stat I gave. -

As I think about that stat, how is it possible to score 1 run total in 10 days against opposing bullpens? Bullpens in baseball SUCK, that is just incredible. Greg Walker should wear a mask and point a gun when he gets paid. -

That's embarassing. You HAVE to get a run with a guy on 3rd and 0 outs, ESPECIALLY with a nasty pitcher like McGowan out there. At least he has 88 pitches in only 5 innings, we'll get to their bullpen early. We've scored 1 run total since May 21st against opposing relief pitchers. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) He's been HORRIBLE besides the game against Colby Lewis. 4 for 29 with 7 walks, and only 1 extra base hit and 1 RBI might be the worst stretch I've seen him have with us. -

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Get the Walker jersey out of the dugout LOL I was thinking the same thing. Paulie walks on 4 pitches, 1st and 3rd 2 outs and it's up to Mackowiak. -

Thome is now 4 for 29 since his huge game against the A's at The Cell on May 22nd. He also has 7 walks in these 9 games, but still struggling a lot. Our middle of the order is so useless. This is the Sox that drive me crazy again. Man on 3rd 0 out, and it's hit or no run now. That's just pathetic. -

Gooch steals 2nd and takes 3rd on the horrid throw by Sal. I like it. -

The dreaded leadoff walk. Now do something about it guys, we need more offense. -

LOL A.J. with the Greg Walker jersey and everything on as he is the "acting" hitting coach today. He even has the pillow in his stomach to make it look bigger and is making fun of Walker's mannerisms. Awesome. -

Count settling down a bit here. Threw 50 pitches the first 2 innings and only 22 the last 2 innings. -

I'm going to hit Hawk in the head with a mallet if he says Anderson and 5 tool player in the same sentence again. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 12:51 PM) Ya, I absolutely loved how he just slapped it over there. It was SO nice to see one of our guys do it instead of another Twin owning us that way.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:10 PM) this is going to be a bullpen day That's why this one smells of one of those losses on a 7th inning disaster, I'm very uneasy about this. And is it a coincidence we execute something we haven't done all year twice in 3 innings when Walker isn't at the stadium? I don't think it is. -

Getting a man home from 2nd with 0 outs twice in 3 innings without an additional hit? Who are these guys and what did they do with the Sox? This is very nice to see. -

We better start scoring now, because it'll take at least half a dozen runs to win today since Jose's 50 pitches through 2 means we shall see extensive work from our middle relief. I am seeing some things that make me want to be optimistic, but everytime I think of one of our righty RP's not named Jenks being in the game I want to puke.
