The Time To Act... Unfortunately is Now.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Boy you would think we are mathematically eliminated by the talk on this board. This team isnt supposed to lose a single series I take it? So what your saying is that: 1. You expected us to be even .500 and in 4th place as the calendar is about to turn to June. and 2. We can finish ahead of either Detroit or Cleveland. I would hope you don't actually feel that way. Your way too smart for that. -
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 30, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Williams batted .406 Oops, .407 Nope, .406. I looked at the Korean War years. And the Mendoza line nickname originated for Mario Mendoza in 1979 when he hit .198 in his first chance to play a full season, what's your point?
-
Well the most interesting man in the world went 3 for 5 with his 1st home run to get his average 3 points below the Ted Williams line at .397. Amazing (and yes I thought this deserved it's own thread...maybe we can make this THE Willie Harris thread, lol).

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) jerry owens three hits tonight. he's up to .297. trade mack and see if that kid can do anything. Mack is meaningless if we aren't going to contend. I agree on giving Owens a chance too. Hey, who knows? -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) He's been s***ty out of the bullpen this year. Might as well send him to AAA and make him a starter and see if he can fill one of the holes we'll have next year. The fact we haven't done that yet is bewildering for me. He's a way better starter and we'll need him next year. -

QUOTE(Soxfest @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) Sometimes I truly think it was lightning in a bottle in 2005 and they won despite KW and OG! I am in the same boat in that regard right now. -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) Now people are really starting to get the point about who made this team as bad as it is right now: Kenny Williams. Well yeah, but our manager is still lousy. It's starting to look like both need to go. -

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) I'll be honest with you all... pre-05, I despised KW as a GM... I am starting to remember why... Ha beat me to it. -

I remember how everybody said KW was a horrible GM heading into 2005. Maybe they were right, and 2005 was an abberation. -

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) What are the odds that about the all-star break we are competing for 4th place with the Royals, and just everything comes loose? Ozzie goes on a rampage and after he resigns. Then KW gets canned and Rick Hann comes in and just re-does the whole minor league coaching system and get a new hitting coach with a new philosophy. And then do a mini-fire sale. That's be nice. Won't happen, but it'd be nice. And we'll stay ahead of the Royals at least though. -

At least we got that run in the 1st. As a result, Minnesota has only scored 16 of the last 17 runs since the bottom of the 6th started yesterday. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) It was a serious question....not meant to knock Danks at all. I've expected Danks to have an ERA in the 5.25 range this year. Danks ends up in the 4's, McCarthy in the 5's, if your looking for a serious answer. I'll say Danks at 4.50 and B-Mac at 5.50. -

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) The guy doing the best job in the White Sox org. tonite is Darrin Jackson. He is disgusted and he is letting it show and rightfully so. He's a fine announcer. The problem is the other guy. And it's time to turn the game off. I can't watch this any more. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Quick prediction game: who will end up with a lower ERA this year, Danks or McCarthy? Come on fathom, I'm not even that far on the ledge due to this game. AND OF COURSE THEY ARE RUNNING US OUT OF THE PARK, HAWK!! WE ARE SLOW AND OLD!! -

At least Masset looks pretty decent tonight. And Hawk in Ozzie defense mode is pretty funny. Cintron has beer league range. -
Lyle Mouton just because one of my fav childhood memories is Gene Honda saying that name (to this day, it's the coolest sounding name Honda has ever said). I also liked Sean Lowe a lot, Charles Johnson's 44 games with in in 2000 were splendid, Lorenzo Barcelo is a legend, and Mario Valdez and Antonio Osuna were great.

Dye catches it in foul ground, run scores, all 3 runners advance. Dye has a cannon of an arm. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) I'd like to know one situation this year, or even last year, where everyone on base advanced on a foul out. HA I was thinking the same thing. -

They played that "had a bad day" song in the background at the game as Danks left. I couldn't help but laugh, so true.
