Memo to John Danks: Buddy, your going to be a really good pitcher. But stop throwing curveballs to Justin Morneau. Please? -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:20 PM) I can't believe I'm saying this, but... I agree with Fathom. I really want this team to either play up to its offensive potential and stay healthy (the picthing is fine), or to fall apart so we can move forward. That said, this is NOT some awful team the way some of you are putting it. Its a slightly above average baseball team, even with the hitters slumping. If the hitters get back to their career averages, this is a team that could still make the playoffs. So, that's what I'm hoping for. But if that's not possible, then I hope they fall deeply into 4th place. I totally agree with this. But everybody needs to remember to evaluate this team based on the division as much as the team itself. Hell, we could win the NL Central if we were in it, but this group will not cut it in the AL Central. The question is will we fall out of it enough to give KW a chance to trade at the deadline and reload (which I don't know if he'd swallow his pride to do anyways), or will we just hang close enough to keep it as is and end up fading to 3rd or 4th place. -

Cintron and Mackowiak need to patent the "swing as hard as you can at a bender in the dirt and miss" approach. -

CREDEPOPSITUP (and swings at ball 4). What a surprise. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Where's our Boof Bonser? I missed the memo about our starting staff being the problem. The question you SHOULD be asking is where's our Pat Neshek or Matt Guerrier (although we originally drafted Guerrier, IIRC). -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Just pray that they either start playing well or they fall 10 games or so behind the Tigers/Indians. The last thing we want to see is a team that can't catch the leaders who won't trade their impending free agents. KW is too arrogant to trade everybody, even if we fall out of it. If your expecting that, don't hold your breath. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) It can't get worse than the last two months of last season, when every game, he said the following: You know what DJ, this is the most talented team I've ever seen. I can't believe they haven't gelled yet. I've talked to scouts of the opposing team, and they all tell me that you guys will be fine, don't worry. You know what DJ, if it wasn't for the two injuries, Ozzie might be going for his 3rd straight World Series title. I'd rather listen to Hawk do his impression of "The Ranger" than b**** and moan like this. Somebody needs to tell him Yaz hangs out with you 24/7 after you retire. -

Is this team that bad? Well of course it's not. But that isn't good enough in the AL Central everybody. We are a 3rd or 4th place team in this division unless something very strange happens. -

With the way this season is going, I'm going to want Hawk's head on the platter first when it's over. What a freaking baby. -

Well 5-1 doesn't mean it's for sure over. But it means our middle relief will pitch a lot, which DOES mean it's for sure over. Danks was due for a bad start, the writing has been on the wall lately in a lot of ways. I just hope this doesn't get too ugly. -
QUOTE(Steff @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Noted, agree, though I think that's a different animal. To Rock's point, many fans refuse to lay the blame for the current crap on those responsible. Everybody is responsible this year, although I'd put Ozzie below KW, our minor league scouts, Greg Walker, and the players this year on the totem pole. It's going to take me a long time to forgive Ozzie for 2006 though.

Another awesome read from the man who is a better defender than Aaron Rowand. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) There are like 2 players on this team that I have faith in getting to a ball that is more than 5 feet from where they are standing. Yep, 80 percent of RF's catch that ball. And wow that was crushed. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) No, he's lost about two steps and seems lazy too much. I'd rather go younger at 2nd base and try to develop someone for the next 5 years at that position. I agree, but we don't have that anywhere even close in our system other than MAYBE Getz (and that's not likely to be honest), and young MIF's don't grow on trees. Castillo may be lazy, but he can still hit, and he's actually a better hitter on the road than at home. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) I love seeing our number one and number 2 hitters attempting to hit the baggy. f*** that get on, get over get in. Lift and pull. Its sexy, and it allows for you not to be tired when you go back to the field. I think Walker makes our players sleep with CD'S and headphones on that have voices saying "lift and pull" over and over again. -

Oh, and Andrew Sisco has given up 2 runs in 1 and 1/3 innings so far at Charlotte tonight. At least he's gotten the 4 triple a outs in an economical 40 pitches though. -

Somebody needs to tell Hawk that: 1. All hits count, no matter how hard they are struck. 2. The Twins aren't accidentally getting bloop hits. They just do it to us especially because of our lack of defensive range and lack of strikeouts in our staff. Danks will figure out a way to get through this game with a good outing like he always does, but we are in trouble because our middle relief will be a factor tonight. We better get some crooked numbers on offense here. -

I love how Hawk thinks it's a fluke that the Twins ALWAYS do this to us. Hawk, they TEACH their hitters to do this, and when you combine that with our lack of defensive range, you get this. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:37 PM) Of course. I appreciate the way he plays the game. I also understand you can't have 9 superstars in your lineup and Erstad is the type of role playing starter that flat out helps you win. I agree with all this, but his defense is absoultely nowhere near superb. That was a nice inning. It's like a flashback to yesterday, great approach one inning and horrible the next. Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde. -
