White Sox vs. Yankees, 6/5/07 (L)

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) I totally forgot about Reed, but he was rated the second best prospect in baseball one year behind Joe Mauer by Baseball Prospectus. We have more busts as prospects than any other organizations, maybe along with the Cubs. Reed was the only reason we got Freddy, so I'm not going there. -

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Not true at all. Stumm was compared to Roger Clemens, Malone was a stud after his breakthrough season, Ginter and Wright were top 50 prospects by BA. Our organization was loved by Baseball America and other places because we had great minor league pitchers and all of them failed to develope. I'm going to make an out of character move here and simply respectfully disagree. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) I was waiting for someone to mention Riske's name: Riske: 25.2 IP, 2.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 19 K's. But I guess it was just so silly to offer a type A free agent coming off a $1.8 million salary arbitration. At least if Kenny had a clue what he was doing we'd have 3 top 100 picks. You just ruined my night reminding me of that debacle. -

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) this is nearly the same exact part of the year last year (first week of June) where Liriano was just beginning to start, Morneau was on the verge of going down, Batista had been released for Punto, Bartlett was up, the Twins were 8 games under .500 and 12 games behind the Tigers I hope you aren't implying we have a Liriano, Punto, Barlett, and awesome bullpen to save us. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:20 PM) The list goes on: Jason Stumm, Danny Wright, Jon Rauch, Matt Ginter, Rocky Biddle, Brian West, Lorenzo Barcelo, Josh Fogg, Gary Majewski, Corwin Malone, Arnie Munoz, Kris Honel, Matt Guerrier. And that is only from 2000 when our system was rated by Baseball America as the best and all these guys were tabbed future major leaguers. Who the hell had that list as a bunch of top prospects other than Malone, Honel (and both of them were hurt), and to a lesser extent Rauch and Fogg? Don't play revisionist history. -

Gotta love baseball. Uribe takes an epically bad swing and has a single, Cintron smokes it and it's an out. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) Honestly, you need to fire the pitching coaches as well. We have so many stud pitching prospects the last decade who have done NOTHING. Huh? You still mad about Scott Ruffcorn and Danny Wright? So many and White Sox pitching prospects in the last decade go together like Cubs and excellence. -

They aren't saying boo, they are saying "BOOOONE!" We might have to give him a lot more chances for full inning appearances and against righties at this rate. He's our 2nd best RP at the moment. -

Hawk says everybody has bullpen woes. Well we are the only one with 30th place bullpen woes buddy. And another bullpen run allowed. Our bullpen ERA the last month entering tonight was 9.11, isn't that appropriate? -

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) It didn't take long for the bullpen to "embarrass" Kenny Williams. The offense has been awful for a far longer period, yet it has not embarrassed Kenny. Why does it take so much longer for the offense to embarrass Kenny? It's a fair question. They are 30th in a 30 team, 2 league setup as is the bullpen, so just as bad. -

This argument realistically isn't relevant since we aren't scoring again, so I shoudn't even bother. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) Hahhaha-no. The last half inning had 8 batters, 5 hits, and 4 runs. That isn't tip your cap time, you don't just give up 5 hits in a half inning due to exclusive tip your cap hitting. Nice inning for us in response. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) It's not impressive....but the 2006 Buehrle you're trying to talk about would have given up 3 homers in the first 3 innings and everyone would have been complaining about his velocity. I don't care what their record is....this is the best lineup we face. Your way too smart to say the bolded, Fathom. -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:54 PM) So, when will Sox fans just give credit to the offense instead of s***ting on their pitcher and questioning every one of the manager's moves? Hawk? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) BTW...will someone please explain to me why we pitched to the best hitter in the AL with an open base? Because intentionally walking a guy in an inning with 2 runs already in, 2 more in scoring postion, 0 outs, and a guy hitting .333 with the bases loaded this year and .338 for his career in that spot on deck isn't very practical. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) The 2006 Buehrle gave up homer after homer. Believe it or not, this Yankees lineup is damn good. Buehrle didn't have much tonight, and if it wasn't for those double plays, we would have been out of the game early on. He's given up 5 runs in 5 and a third innings against a tied for last place team, including 4 in this inning. I can't go and find that impressive. -

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) I beg to differ, that wasn't a bad pitch, just a great job of hitting by one of the best the past decade. A career .288 hitter with below average power isn't one of the best of the past decade. -

This is 2006 Buehrle right here. A collapse so fast you can't keep up with it on your scorecard. Another run here and we should be done. -

Damon and his slider speed bat gets a perfect pitch to go oppo on. Whoever called that pitch is not very smart.
