  1. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) casey crosby just taken by detroit A guy I have actually seen! (Sorry everybody, I can actually comment on him). All I can say is Jones and Poreda better be good or we got pantsed twice by Detroit in a matter of 5 rounds.
  2. The fact that the Miller High Life guy also can sing the National Anthem makes him even better. If he can somehow bring us a win he's a miracle worker.
  3. Gooch doesn't even have beer league range because that would imply he catches the ball when it's hit right to him.
  4. How the hell have we taken all pitchers? Our system is actually adequate at P and horrid at the middle infield.
  5. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:40 PM) Since obviously you don't know what the hell your talking about and especially saying he's an Andy Sisco clone when he does have control just drop the "Im smarter than you" act. lol passing on Porcello is inexcuseable if we are truly not doing the whole projectable nonsense anymore. At least the people who know their stuff seem to really like our 2nd pick. Beats nothing I guess.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:34 AM) I can't see us screwing up our first pick here. Well I was way wrong here, oops.
  7. It's too late to hope Ozzie doesn't change Hawk, he already did. If this Ozzie (personality wise) had managed our 2005 team, we'd have completed the collapse. Ozzie is too worried about the steroid witch hunt against Latinos to have fun right now.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) That, or you are just far too wise to be on a message board. Taking a guy with 1 pitch and a mediocre strikeout rate in college over Porcello is inexcuseable. I am not nearly informed enough to speak of our other picks, but to take Andy Sisco clone over Porcello isn't working at all.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) What more does Cintron have to do to prove he should be in AAA IF he's not actually hurt, I fixed that for you.
  10. Cintron is the worst position player on an MLB roster right now, and it's not close.
  11. Everybody laughed last night at the projection that we'd pass on Porcello, take a project, and the Tigers would take Porcello instead. I guess the people around here haven't learned about Kenny and our scouts yet, they aren't very smart.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) The stadium giveaway tonight should be a refund..... Why? Our regulars can't hit either, try something different. As for the wind question, it pushed both flyballs to the outfield in and towards the LF foul line that inning. But it's The Cell and a front is coming through later (I hope this game occurs uninterrupted), so you know it will swirl.
  13. What a play by Josh, the reports about his defense getting better appear to have been accurate.
  14. This hasn't got nearly enough attention. Hoffman recorded save #500 to lock down career win #338 for Greg Maddux in a 5-2 victory over LA (he already has 18 saves in 20 chances too, not like he's washed up). http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore;_ylt=...F?gid=270606125 He's going to finish his career with well over 500 saves and I have doubts as to if his record is ever caught with the way Rivera is starting to look. Just an incredible feat IMO.
  15. O'Rear at #11? Wow, he's a very good basketball player too.
  16. I can't see us screwing up our first pick here. Can't wait to see who we take, wish I could watch it on TV though .
  17. Bourgeois has been really good leading off and playing 2B since Gonzalez got called up, and was having a nice year in B-Ham before that. Hopefully he keeps it up the rest of the year, he is at .305/.364/.439/.802 this year with 18 BB and only 22 K's, plus 17 for 20 in steals between AA and AAA (and has been red hot at .360 since the call up). I've watched 3 Broadway starts online and he hasn't got above 90 in any of them. 4-1 with a 3.30 in your first year at AAA isn't bad at all, but 28 k's and 26 walks is bad and those #'s in 60 innings is worse. His 1.22 GO/AO and .246 BAA against isn't too bad though, and neither is 5 HR in 60 innings, but Lance is a #4 or #5 starter at best.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) Where the hell is SSI71 when I need him? I know he'd have my back on this one. Busy hosting the postgame show on 670. I'll never forget when Rongey said "the Sox may be 6 out with 7 to go, but they are getting nice games from the young September call ups and appear ready to finish strong, it's not mathematically over yet, so make sure to watch".
  19. Regardless of if Kenny is horrible and fired in 3 years or if he wins another World Series or two, this will be looked back upon as his biggest mistake as GM, and by a wide margin (this being not dealing Crede this winter).
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Good stuff as always, guys. The only thing I'd change is I'd have Gio ranked higher than Fields but that's obviously just a matter of opinion. That one is really a matter of perspective. I thinik Fields is more likely to be a good MLB player, but Gio has a way higher ceiling. Thus, all I can say is our Kyle McCulloch and Lance Broadway 1st round pick FO would agree with Fields over Gio.
  21. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-joe04.article I can't even dignify this nonsense article with any more of a response, but I figured this needed it's own thread. Have at it, and remember this is the same man who voted A.J. Pierzynski 10th in MVP last year.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:25 PM) You don't need to post your negativity you know. Take up a blog somewhere else or something. We all realize that the Sox are losing because they aren't hitting and their bullpen can't hold leads. Then what should people here do when we suck? Talk about how great we'll be when we "wake up"? QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) Before any more comments like this are made, SC said the Sox were 9-0 against Rookie pitchers this year. I'm shocked by that. Wow really? Who knew!
  23. So far this year, he has been a stud for Class A Daytona. 0-5, 5.75 ERA in 11 starts. 51.2 IP, 76 hits, 16 walks, 20 k's, .350 average against. How much did they pay this clown again in round 2, thus taking projected 18th rounder Tyler Colvin in the 1st to save money? lol.
