QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) If the Bulls want Lebron, Rose has to make a call, or show up. The reason why NYK is all of a sudden a hot rumor is because Amare is courting Lebron. It isnt enough that the ownership/management wants him, he wants to know that the team wants him. I feel like Lebron wanted to be a Bull, but is getting strange vibes from the players. Agreed. I remember hearing some people say that Rose's shyness might be a problem when he came into the league, and we might be seeing it now.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) The Bulls could also pull off a deal that got them Al Jefferson right now. Am I an idiot for saying I'd rather have Jefferson than Lee or Boozer?
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) I think you are underestimating LeBron and his "crew's" motives. One of LeBron's main goals is to become the next Billion dollar athlete. He is likely looking at the roster in New York and thinking it's no worse than Cleveland's and he could make millions more in endorsements. Exactly, which is why he's not going to Miami. You can't become a billion dollar athlete as part of a big 3 in South Florida. He's either staying home or money grabbing.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) Amare. LeBron is asking for a long career without rings if he goes to New York for that reason. If he goes to NY, it's more likely because he think Carmelo will be there soon (well, and to make as much money in endorsements as possible). But is that worth the risk?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) I will say the Bulls are completely screwed. Rose can still turn into the batman and has the tools to be that, but the Bulls still need to find a Robin to go along with Noah. Who that will be, I don't know, but Boozer or Lee are both pretty solid players. the problem is I'm not sure who out there we could just go out and trade for? Hit the nail on the head right here.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) I believe you'd have to talk Boozer into taking a non-max deal leaving enough for a max deal. Based on Boozer's past, that might not be easy to do.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) If the Bulls land Lee or Boozer and miss on LBJ, I think you'll see them overpay Allen or get a Reddick or Mike Miller. That sounds about right as to what will happen. Could the Bulls even afford LBJ if they did get a Boozer agreement done ASAP btw?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) I dont think it has helped the Bulls cause that the Derek Rose has been completely out of sight and out of mind. I know its his personality, but you have to imagine if Rose shows up with the Bulls contingency in Cleveland and personally pitches Lebron it resonates a lot more. Agreed, lack of Rose involvement was probably the #1 mistake here.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:09 PM) jgoff670 The word is that Lebron will show up with headbands instead of caps for his "Decision" Show. The corny-ness continues. WOW HES REALLY GOING TO F*CKING DO THIS He's unbelieveable, what an egomaniac. He could go anywhere but the Clippers and it shouldn't surprise us, as much as we think he's down a certain couple of teams.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Exactly, the hype/PR side of things is already out the window if Lebron goes elsewhere. At that point it's time to be shrewd, yes it sucks to miss out on the big three, but there's still a lot of money to be played around with on a really strong free agent class. The problem with spending too much on this class is you'll have to go into the luxury tax eventually to keep Rose and Noah, and you're not going to be able to build a championship winning team with the rest of this class. So you have to be careful considering Uncle Jerry's stance on the luxury tap.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 12:01 PM) Absolutely, I just wanted to stand up for the guy since he's been getting blasted everywhere haha. I would be disgusted if we signed him for his max, but the guy is a pretty f***in good offensive player. I would prefer Lee, and I feel a Boozer-Max signing would be a product of the Bulls wanting to make a big "name" splash. The Bulls need to understand that no matter what they do, they're going to lose the PR battle and get ripped to shreds by most people since they didn't get any of the top 3. So screw PR, and do whatever is best for the team.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) If JFP were to be out for the year, he would miss about 15 more starts. Assuming the team goes 10-5 in games he starts, then as long as Hudson can hit the .500 mark, they would only lose a game or two in the standings. I know in this division one game has meant everything the last two years, but it can still be won. Losing a Rios or PK would hurt much more IMO. Couldn't have said it better myself.
-
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) I'm not a huge Boozer fan either, and I definitely don't think he deserves the max. But in recent years Boozer has been ~ 20/10 on mid 50 FG%. For how long this team has been crying for a post scorer he's not bad. Not saying I want Boozer, so spare yourselves, but the guy is a pretty good interior scorer. He's a good fit offensively with Rose. But a max deal (which is probably what it'll take since New Jersey will want him too I'd assume) for a guy who is inury prone and doesn't guard to play under a coach who is all about defense just screams problems.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Y'all are seriously overrating Carlos Boozer. Exactly, and I'm not even sure how much he'd fit with our coach. Thibs is all about defense, and Boozer has never even pretended to try and play it. Maybe they can at least try and get Lee to try and defend if they sign him (although he's been with D'Antoni recently).

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) If the Heat don't end up with Lebron but say Felton and Haywood instead (or Miller and Rudy Fernandez has been mooted), then it's debatable who the better team is. If you're a Magic fan it is I suppose.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) With no real chance to win an NBA title though. How would that roster really be a whole lot different than say the Atlanta Hawks in terms of talent? Perfect comparison actually, and I agree with you. The Bulls are the Atlanta Hawks now. Woooo!
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:48 AM) Denial is a terrible thing. WE ARE NOT GETTING LEBRON! It's 41-41 for the Bulls for the next 5 years. Ehh...they'll overpay for Boozer and some white shooter and it'll be 48-34 or so and alternating between out in the 1st and 2nd round the next 5 years. We'll know for sure on LeBron in less than 36 hours though, and assuming he isn't coming here, then full panic will set in among the entire fanbase if it hasn't already.
-
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:47 AM) And now everyone's turning on Bosh. This is just 2000-2001 all over again after the Magic signed Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady and the Bulls ended up with Eddie Robinson. Not a good time to come in here and proclaim how much you hate the Bulls. Enjoy being the 2nd best team in Florida, btw.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) No the Bulls did not tell the Raptors we will trade whoever it takes to get a s&t done asap. Im not saying it was a bad decision, just the Bulls left the door open way to long. If they tell Bosh we are going to get your s&t, when Wade and Bosh are in Chicago, perhaps Miami never gets another chance to pitch them. In the end the Bulls were holding out for Lebron, its been clear that is who the Bulls covet. Some times you swing and miss, I guess the only good news is the Bulls havent done jack, so they have to be holding some hope that Lebron says yes. I'm still not convinced they are completely dead on LeBron yet, even though it feels like they are and I obviously reacted like I think they are. If logic matters here, they still have a shot. Then again, it seems logic may not matter in this case with the way things have played out.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) ?? 2010: 15th, 439 fans away from 9th place. 2009: 15th, 1,000 away from 7th place. 2008: 8th, 99.3% capacity. 2007: 5th, 100.6% capacity 2006: 4th, 101.8% capacity 2005: 4th, 101.4% capacity Heat fans are no worse than average NBA fans now. When I first started watching the Heat in the 90's, the stadium was half full on any given night. Hell, before 2005 the Heat had trouble drawing crowds. But that all changed with the title, surprise, surprise. And they were dropping off the last two years when the title wore off, also surprise surprise. Those attendance numbers would have plumetted right back to about 25th in the league, but now they have Wade and Bosh, so that's not an issue. Unless they don't win anything. Attendance still is irrelevant though in this argument.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:38 AM) Who cares, Miami with Wade/Bosh/Beasely may be better today, but for how many years in the future? I had a feeling this is how it would go down when the Bulls didnt go nuts after Bosh. There was no way to keep all 3 happy, and I feel the bulls tried to hold out for the biggest fish. The real killer may have been Amare. If Lebron goes to NYK, it had everything to do with them snatching up Amare and giving Lebron a real scenario, instead of the Bulls "dream" scenarios. LeBron going to NY would be a money grab. The Bulls still have a way better team even with Amar'e there.
-
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) How so. Because the United Center can fit more people in its building than the American Airlines Arena? The Heat had problems selling out playoff games against the Celtics this year. The fact that their fans suck is irrelevant though.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) And baseball and even hockey. The NBA is the only sport where you can pretty much predict what's going to happen before it actually happens. Exactly. Everybody knows about football competitive balance, but hockey now is not far behind in that regard with the hard cap it has. Even with baseball, there are tons of teams that stay in the race with the wild card, and has had 8 different franchises win the World Series the last 9 years.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) Welcome to every professional sport but football. The NHL and even MLB are FAR more competitively balanced that the NBA (although baseball certainly needs work too).

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) Anyone else worried that Jake will consistently be battling injuries? I think it'd be hard not to worry about that, all things considered.
