QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) I "honored" Danks last night with my own special ceremony. Maybe that is connected.
-
I wonder how long this thread will end up being.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 02:39 AM) Sucks that you can't face the truth. Keep on loving some mediocre, career minor league firstbaseman. Some would argue that's better than some of the people we're giving a lot of at bats to right now. I didn't realize he's under 5 more years of club control though, he's not going anywhere unless he gets red hot and they want way more for him than I'd be willing to pay.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) I'm absolutely not. Haha that's why I put "most of us". I know there are a few that aren't giving up yet. I'll be watching the show until he announces, so I guess I haven't technically given up either.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) LeBron is moving from the 26th Metro area to the 7th biggest. I'm sure the NBA is all torn up. He's not moving to one of top three though, which I'm sure they aren't happy about, especially since 2 of them were in play for him. They're happy he's out of Cleveland I'd imagine though.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Give it up guys, the dude is going to Miami. I think most of us are resigned to it now, that's why the big discussion about their team with him popped up earlier.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) Well if Lebron goes to MIA its gotta be NBA's worst case scenario. 3 stars all choosing to go to the smaller market as compared to Chicago or NY. This is going to be great for NBA playoff ratings. Oh yeah. Like I wondered aloud last night, does the NBA realize how bad this would be for them? The only positive for them would be a Miami/LA finals, that'd get huge numbers. But other than that, this is just a nightmare for them.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:43 PM) I've come to the conclusion I'd be ecstatic if Lebron came to the Bulls, don't care if its CLE, NY, NJ, and upset/disappointed if he goes to MIA. Agreed 100 percent.

Actually, the Paul thing might mean nothing, he and LeBron are good friends. But then again, it could mean something. (How's that for quality insight?)

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) The Red Wings are also said to be interested in Modano, and would need him much more than the Hawks do. Plus, he'd be "going home", so there's that. Modano would be an interesting idea for a third or fourth-line guy with some PP ability. He's at the end of the road, but it might be fun to see how much more road he's got. Of course, you don't pay him much at this point. If anything even slightly resembling a "bidding war" happens, you quickly wave goodbye. Yahoo had an update on this actually, it sounds like it's Red Wings or retirement now for Modano. They were guessing somewhere around 1.3 million for him if he signs. I'd find the link but i'm too lazy.

Ahh so Chris Paul is going to Miami now too. Great.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) It's really amazing that there was actually talk of trading "Bacon Slayer" (when is the last time we've seen that?) straight up to the Padres for Adrian Gonzalez, and a lot of people around here and on the radio were saying no way to that. I'd bet there are people that still wouldn't do it.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 12:12 PM) No, it really doesn't. So you're not worried about the fact that Gordon Beckham has been an awful player for 3 months now? You're a far more patient and trusting man than I am.
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) You can't even spell the word spell correctly... there is no hope for you T'was part of the joke. I'm not even that stupid (well, maybe I am actually).
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) You can't do that right now, especially with Dunn not wanting an extension if he's going to be a DH. Yeah I know you can't do it. But it just takes a lot of restraint to say no to that one right now.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) Whatever, I completely disagree with you. I think those 3 would go all out to try and reach 70. If they did that every year they are together, they'd probably get it.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) You kidding me? Those 3 assholes would certainly do their best to get to 70, too bad they wouldn't get there. I doubt it, 70 wins doesn't do you much if you kill yourselves to get it and are out of gas in the playoffs. I don't think they're idiots.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:53 AM) I bet they do. They'd have a pretty legitimate shot at it if they wanted it and stayed healthy. But I don't think three guys like this get together to make regular season history, so I'm guessing they'd settle on a total in the 60's and save some steam for the playoffs as a general rule.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) They still prob win 60-70 games each year which is f***ing domination. Anyoone saying anything else is in denial. Bron by himself makes a team a contender, let alone a good PF and one of the best players in the NBA. I agree with the regular season projection (although 70 would be a bit of a pipedream when you have no depth, so maybe on the lower end of your projection). The playoffs are just a very different game though, which is why I say if they are together 5 years, I guess they get about 2 rings.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) Wouldn't they get one if they went over the cap? The Heat that is. Nope.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) Am I the only one that thinks in 2-3 years, Rose will be better than Wade? No because he will be. That doesn't eliminate the LeBron problem though.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:49 AM) How much is the MLE worth again? Usually a little over 5 million bucks I believe.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) I say this with the utmost respect, you guys are FULL OF s***! You know damn well if we had Bosh/Wade in place with a chance to add Lebron you wouldn't be talking about "OH MY GOOD GOLLY JESUS! WHEREVER WILL WE FIND ROLEPLAYERS!" You'd all be talking about how the only question would be could we match the 6 titles from the 90's. In a little over 8 hours, the NBA title could possibly be spoken for through 2016. Just face it. If the Bulls had Bosh and Wade on board, LeBron possibly next, and a skeleton roster, I'd be very excited. But I'd be saying the same things I am now, only perhaps even with more concern since it'd be my team and I always worry more about them. That team would be good enough to be right there among the top few contenders to win the title any year they are together, but to just say cancel the games for 6 years is ridiculous.
-
QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) 1st name Washington mentioned for Dunn was Beckham... I'd have a hard time saying no to that right now, although if you still feel Beckham can be what you thought he'd be when you drafted him, such a deal can't be made. But that's might tempting right now with how lost Gordon looks, even if you're getting a rental back for him.
-
QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) Yes because getting Bosh would have netted them one of LeBron or Wade This is true, but Bosh wasn't going anywhere unless he knew LeBron or Wade would go there too, so in a sense those two had the cards all along. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) No one will be dealing with the Heat, imo, if they end up with the big 3. If that happens, a lot of people are gonna be clamoring about some tampering. Couldn't agree more. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:39 AM) He said that PRE-LEBRON (meaning Wade, Bosh, Chalmers and Beasley) that the Heat are better than the Bulls. Oh, well that's defintely not true.
