  1. John Ely was sent to the minors today, replaced by fellow former Sox farmhand Jon Link.
  2. In honor of the Cubs closing a strong first half with a 7-0 loss last night (and because I think fathom made this video. ) Note: NSFW language. Blow Cubs Blow Steve | MySpace Video
  3. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) OK ..this is why I hate reading what someone says and trying to interpret what they mean!! LOL Either you are being sincere and really believe everything is "f***ing awesome" or you're being sarcastic and basically saying "yeah yeah, everything is awesome, please shut up now" LMAO BUT ...if the first way I mentioned is how you meant it to be taken, then, Thank You tons ...AND if the second way I mentioned is how you meant it to be taken, then, Thank You tons!! hahaha ..If there is a 3rd way this could be interpreted and I missed it, my apologies ...I am f***ing awesome, but I'm not perfect! haha BTW ..It's in my honest opinion that MOST of you are pretty f***ing awesome yourselves!!! I think he was serious. I also liked the post he was quoting too. It sounds like you and Chase have the fortitude and attitude needed to survive and thrive in a lifestyle like the one he has in the minor leagues. Hopefully he can perform well and move up the ranks.
  4. It's hard to believe. Let's hope the All Star Break doesn't cool the guys off, and the next month is as good as the last month was.
  5. Is TCQ back? Yes. Do we still need to acquire another bat? Yes. The good news is that with TCQ back, if we acquire one solid bat it should be enough to where the offense isn't a noticeable liability anymore.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) Oh, I agree that nobody thought we'd get this hot. But it's still illustrates why it's ridiculous for people to want to mail in the season in late May or early June. And there were quite a few people who did. I think those are separate points. I know I thought we were dead, and I started a poll on it, in which 90 percent of voters agreed with me, so I wasn't alone. But I also distinctly remember many of us saying that the trading off of parts couldn't be started until at least mid July because you never know, maybe the team will get red hot. And that's exactly what has happened.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) I think Chris Broussard decided he was correct on the Heat stuff so he never needs to be correct about anything again, so he's just going to make stuff up. Broussard is FAR from the only person reporting that. The Knicks owner absolutely loves Zeke, and is seriously thinking about giving him a second chance as a prominent member of the organization if Walsh ends up no longer in that job spot.
  8. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) He wanted to join Deng, Noah, Wallace etc in Chicago, but LA acquired Pau Gasol instead. Yeah, because joining that group with 3 rings in tow would have really been comparable to what LeBron did even had it happened.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:35 PM) Therapist has really been taking advantage of his opportunities recently... http://www.123video.nl/playvideos.asp?MovieID=139211 More specifically, the 1:40 mark.
  10. Don't get not having my man therapist in there against LHP, and don't get Jones playing this much. Let's get a win anyways though.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) Bulls have reached an agreement with Asik, who will be playing with Turkey for the upcoming world championships. Have a source or link? (Not that I don't believe you, it was expected that would happen).
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Was this rejected? That's exactly the move I wanted... All I was told is somebody posted on the boards over there that such a trade has been offered. No idea beyond that, unfortunately.
  13. I guess one of the real gm people said the Bulls offered Taj and Deng for Iguodala? Take it FWIW, I don't even read those boards and only heard of that through a friend.
  14. Raja is a local kid too, went to Killian and FIU. Plus, he's made a lot of money in the league already. So if there was ever a guy that would deal with taking the league minimum to play for that team, it's him.
  15. We don't have a ton of resources to get ourselves better on the trade market as it is, and we sure as hell shouldn't use them to get a starting pitcher when a bat is still our #1 need.
  16. A lot of word out there that Raja Bell will end up with the Heat.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) The $4 million in bonuses is really screwing them over. Beats not winning the Stanley Cup. Some past mistakes with money distribution, qualfing offer issues, etc are also hurting right now. I also think you have to keep Hammer as an insurance policy. Not only is already good and still getting better, but with the cap issues as they are, I don't think you can let Hammer go because it's not a 100 percent lock you keep Seabrook (although they'll do everything they can to keep him). Plus, you're defense is really thin for this season without him.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) If he leaves Denver, I'd be shocked if he didn't join the Knicks. Yep, and I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up there somehow. All word from Broussard (who turned out to be pretty accurate with his reporting at the end of the day) is he wants to go to New York.
  19. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:20 PM) Can Korver even play at the 2? I thought he was more of a 3 guy. He'll get eaten up defensively though. I believe he can play the 2, but you're right that he certainly can't defend. I'd guess another signing is coming to address that.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) Who said that? I said they didnt have open schollys which they dont. Of course one will open up eventually with the terrible academics of at least 6 recruits. Even beyond that though, every school in America can make a scholarship open when necessary, even if one technically isn't open. It's all part of the game.
  21. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Nice post. I just have never heard LeBron say that he wants to be the greatest ever, but then again I haven't paid attention to every interview. The only things I have ever heard from him are that he wants to be the next billion dollar athlete and businessman like Magic and that he wants to win championships. Well, it's good if he doesn't want to be the greatest ever, because that concept died last night. He can certainly reach his goal of multiple championships now that he has Wade to take the last shots, and Bosh and Wade to help him in general. But the dream of being a billion dollar athlete also died last night, because LeBron James the player isn't dead, but LeBron James the brand is.
  22. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) Henderson's dad says his son will be will arrive on Miami's campus August 3rd and is academically eligible. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/10/sports/n...erson.html?_r=3 But I thought Miami was out of scholarships and I must have bad sources?
  23. I can't speak for other Bulls fans, but i'm not "protecting Jordan's legacy" at any time when I speak about NBA players and greatness. What he did here speaks for itself, and even if 10 players better than Jordan come along in our lifetimes, it doesn't change what he did.
  24. I'd just be shocked if Niemi isn't the odd man out. A large part of what makes the Detroit model pretty unique is the fact that it seems to find goalies to be largely replaceable. It would be in line with that to not overpay Niemi for a really good playoff run when already in cap jail.
  25. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Bye-Bye Niemi. Yep, I was coming in here to say the same thing, but you beat me to it. I'd be really surprised if Hammer's offer isn't matched and Niemi gone in the very near future. Do they even have the money to keep Huet on the team next year if Niemi is gone and Hammer kept at that rate?
