  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) I think they are calling Toronto's bluff. This is what i'm hoping too. If they aren't bluffing though, I think you have to do it. It's a tight line to walk though.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) I was at the game last night, and there was a lot of booing for Andruw Jones. I was proud of the fans for that. This isn't a shot at greg, as even I excused Jenks for being rusty. However, there was a ton of tension in the stadium during the 8th inning, even prior to Threets coming in. Hell, the PA didn't even have Jenks music ready to go. It was like when Wild Thing entered the game for the Indians in Major League 2. I'm almost more proud to hear of the 8th inning tension. I think between the layoff he had and it being a non save spot, everybody could feel potential trouble on the way when Jenks came in. I'm generally not a fan of booing your own players either, but Jones is a rare case that actually deserves it.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) Well, it sounds like there's an 80-90 pct chance that the Bulls miss out, so go hide from your fiance all week and let that be your area of focus. I'd agree with that percentage on Lebron. But the Bulls are potentially a change of heart on Joakim Noah away from having a great shot at Bosh, and perhaps in doing so could change the mind of Wade. So it's not time to just totally give up yet IMO.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:26 PM) or the smartest Probably a mixture of both really. This thread also shows the classic difference between Cubs and White Sox fans, and why we chose the side that we did.
  5. Haha we're a game out of first just after the 4th of July, and this is the pregame discussion. We have to be the most negative fanbase ever.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) That's a good question, and one that's impossible to answer. Well even if what you're saying is true, they wouldn't make it that obvious. They'd probably wait a week or so, and then cut him. I hope what you're saying isn't true though, else everybody should be fired. You can't be f***ing around like that in the middle of a race.
  7. So fathom, if Andruw hits 2 out tonight, will he be cut in the morning?
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:04 PM) I'm not saying I don't like the coaching hire, but rather they made the hire so quickly due to things WWW was telling them. I also think that Adrian Wojnarowski has been totally played throughout. I honestly think just about every columnist covering this has been played throughout. As have us, the fans.
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) I was wondering if they might nix that deal if the big free agents fall through. I sure hope not.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 02:00 PM) I've thought for a while that WWWes unintentionally caused the Bulls to make a lot of sudden moves, including hiring Thibbs and trading Hinrich. Well if WWW caused them to trade Hinrich, at least he is of some use. And I don't think Thibbs was a bad coaching choice either.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) There's 2 reasons Andruw Jones is still around....399 and 400 The Sox won't sell any extra tickets because of that, so that's incredibly stupid if true. They may have to keep him until 2012 if that's their logic too.
  12. Serves the Bulls right for trusting one guy so much to deliver a player who has a support cast large enough to call a "team". If that's true though, wow did they get caught with their pants down.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) I don't know, Kotsay is below average defensively in CF, but Rios hardly ever sits. Just not a big concern to me. Not sure how Pierre is out there defensively (CF I mean). Fair enough. I bet the fact that Jones can play CF is the excuse the Sox would give you as to why he's still here though. He is absolutely dead weight and needs to go, you can't have a guy like that on your team, especially in a race this tight. EDIT: I like Kalapse's idea of Lillibridge in CF a lot better than the other potential options. Although it's still not a great choice.
  14. The thought of Kotsay or Pierre in CF, even if only a few times, makes me want to cry. I still think we should DFA Jones ASAP, but I wanted to throw that concern out there as a consequence of such a move.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) I honestly don't see how him batting 3rd would mess up anything. It's not like he has to change his stance or swing. I agree in theory. But baseball is a weird game full of weird players. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) I am starting to wonder if maybe they DFA Jones, and keep Viciedo around as the RH DH and RH 3B (against Kotsay DH and Teahen 3B). Might not be the worst idea ever, as long as Viciedo is playing at least 50% of the time in total. That leaves Vizquel as your true backup IF, and Kotsay as the true backup OF, which I'm fine with. Who plays CF when Rios sits?
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) Isn't it amazing? Why does Ozzie continue to trot out players that 80% of baseball would DFA? Because Ozzie plays everybody on the roster. Which is why Kenny needs to step in here and DFA Andruw. As for Kotsay 3rd, who would you rather see there with Rios out? Only real obvious choice is Q, and I get not wanting to mess with his lineup order placement with the way he's hitting.
  17. I don't mind Kotsay hitting 3rd, keep Quentin in the same spot in the order and hopefully keep that mojo going, plus Kotsay has been ok lately. But I don't know how many strikeouts and double plays Ozzie needs to see before Jones goes away. I know Rios has been struggling lately, but he's had plenty of days off the last few weeks. His struggles aren't due to being tired.
  18. Anybody concerned that the bio for LeBron's twitter is "King of Akron"? Lol at him having 52,000 plus followers and no tweets btw.
  19. I heard one of the experts say the other day that LeBron could "stretch this out until the end of the month for all we know". Wouldn't that be great?!?
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) If Lebron was for sure staying in Cleveland why not just announce before his camp? I think hes up in the air right now and is trying to see how everything works. Because he's an attention whore. Bosh not being done yet makes sense because a sign and trade is complicated. Wade not being done yet makes sense because he wants to see what else Miami can acquire to help him. LeBron really has no reason to have not decided yet. He knows what Cleveland has, and he knows what other teams could potentially (if not likely) have if he goes to them. Of course, maybe he hasn't decided yet either and you're right. I wouldn't rule anything out at this point.
  21. I doubt the Rose/JJ thing is true. Sounds like a Cleveland guy trying to help his hometown cause.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) honestly there are very very few people who's reports i trust...but i actually believe what KC Johnson says Same here, which is why I bring up being concerned about the potential Noah snag.
  23. Hey this winning thing we've been doing the last nearly month now is fun, why not try it again tonight and see if it's still fun eh? And yes, ScottyDo does have the best sig on the site.
  24. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Does anybody know exactly WHY he hates us so much? Does he have a problem with Reinsdorf or Ozzie or something? I mean, he's obvious enough about it that I feel like it has to be personal on some level. Haha i'm just giving Ozzie Ball crap. Law supposedly hates us because he's always getting on us about our bad farm system. I am not sure if he actually hates us, that's just the word here so I go along with it.
  25. My only concern here is the idea that a deal with Toronto is being held back by Noah (we're not even sure if that's true though). I know Noah for Bosh doesn't get you all that much better, but I think it's a risk you have to take in order to improve your chances with LeBron and Wade if the opportunity is there. Beyond that, I think as much as everybody (me included) panics at new reports, they're probably all lies anyways.
