  1. I guess tonight was "don't use anybody worth a damn in the bullpen or off the bench" night.
  2. Ozzie's had a rough night tonight. Not that such an event is anything new.
  3. Paulie looked absolutely lost in that at bat. Had no shot.
  4. "he bow and arrowed that one outta here!"
  5. Hard to score with no extra base hits and no walks lost, no matter how many singles you have. And indeed, to fathom and Rowand's points, this is all we could ask for in terms of it being setup for the offense.
  6. Does Hawk receieve a payment everytime he says "don't stop now boys"?
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) What's up with Target Field? I was under the impression that the ballpark was built for left hand hitters. That was supposedly the case. But, as is the case with other parks, nobody knows how a place will play until they have games there for a while and can see how the ball carries, and it does not carry AT ALL up there.
  8. Great job by Threets. I still don't understand just willingly trading the double play for the run though.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) That's true 101, but we've spent a lot of resources on Linebrink and Pena, which makes it disappointing to have them become worthless. Exactly, that's what makes our issue at that part of the bullpen particularly painful. That was bad right there by us being willing to trade the 2 outs for 1 run. We simply can't afford to do that with this offense, particularly with only 6 outs left and already being down a couple beforehand.
  10. Our top 4 guys in the pen have been outstanding, particularly lately. But man, everybody else....yikes. Although we're certainly not alone in having just horrific 10th, 11th, and 12th pitches on the staff.
  11. Are Stone and Hawk really saying Freddy should be in the All Star Game? Come on now.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Beckham is the biggest bust in all of baseball this season. Unfortunately, there's absolutely no guarantee he turns it around. It's times like this I wish we had someone different as our hitting coach. I think it's pretty clear he has major confidence problems. I'm not sure letting him continue to fail here is doing him any good.
  13. In the last 26 games, Gordon has three multi hit games (2 hits each time) and 2 walks. Absolutely mashing.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) I'd say Viciedo would be. Ideally, you put Omar at 2B, Dayan at 3B, and bench Gordon Caruso. Problem is, you're still stuck with Kotsay as the DH.
  15. Mr. Bucher is clealry not a student of law with a comment like that. And yeah Rowand, I think most realized the decision probably wouldn't come until Sunday at the earliest, more likely Monday or Tuesday. But it's just impossible to wait and see like that with something this important.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) That could take years... I was about to say, he'll be here until 2012 in that case.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Alrighty then. For all you people who don't want Kotsay in our lineup, Andruw is the alternative on most nights. Now that's what you call a badly built lineup. You just can't make the playoffs doing this s*** in the AL.
  18. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) And after all this bulls***, we have once again learned absolutely nothing today. Basically. It's just a s*** slinging contest until somebody actually decides officially and we hear from the horses mouth itself.
  19. The decisions seem destined to occur Monday or Tuesday IMO.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) I have no idea how this pitcher gets guys out. Very underwhelming stuff. Our lineup of slap hitters is a nice remedy for a pitcher with crap for stuff.
  21. Make it 21/20 and 47/40. And not surprisingly, another empty frame.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) If Beckham cannot hit a fastball on the outside corner, he needs to move closer to the plate. Be nice if someone in the dugout would tell him that. He's probably afraid to move closer to the plate since his natural swing is to the opposite field. He needs to do something though, of course. And another single, yay.
