QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) I don't think there are min./ max. dimensions. Fenway is like 300 to each of the foul poles. Tiger Stadium was 440 to dead center. The only rule I know if is one written in the middle of the 20th century (late 50's or early 60's I believe) that says it's supposed to be at least 325 feet down the lines and 400 to center in all parks built after that rule was put in place. That's a rule that hasn't exactly been tightly enforced though, as you see in several parks in the majors built well after that time frame.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) Thank you Stan for getting rid of the exact 2 big pieces you should have. Yep, so far so good. Versteeg is a very talented guy, but he's about as dumb as any hockey player I've ever seen, and Buff simply didn't try enough. They were contributors on a champion and have talent so we'll miss them, but to save as much money as they did and get some young talent back for those two guys is a great start to an offseason where people had to be moved. And everybody else we've got rid of so far is replaceable. Now is where I get concerned though, I really don't want to see somebody like Ladd or Niemi leave, but I'm worried we might anyways.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) The question is, would you do Deng and Noah for Bosh. Absolutely. You'd have enough room to sign Lebron as well (I'm pretty sure of this) because Deng's contract is gone.

I finally voted in the poll now that I noticed the New York Knights are one of the choices. I can't see Lebron turning down the chance to play with Roy Hobbs.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Can I get some of what you're on? I'm serious. I need it. lol. the only thing i'm on is lack of sleep.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) He basically s*** all over this website in the public. Ahh, I was not aware of that. Duly noted.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) We should've been prepared for this. This is the world we live in: Internet, Twitter, excessive media, ect. But I never thought it would get this bad. Yeah, journalism has basically been a myth in this story. It's all about getting s*** to throw against the wall, throwing it, and hoping it sticks. Getting it right is irrelevant, getting it first is what counts. Ugh, LeBatard saying he will not play for the Heat next year definitively makes them a bigger threat IMO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Jr must be feeding Cowley bad info again... Did Cowley s*** on your front porch once? He's definitely an easy guy to hate, but man, you're always all over him especially.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) On June 2nd, Kotsay's OPS reached .643, which was the lowest it had been in 10 days (it got to .638 on May 24th, raised to .733 within 2 games, only to plummet back down to that low point). Since that point in time, which consists of 58 plate appearances, Kotsay has put up a .271/.397/.438/.834 line. So, small sample size and all, I don't have a huge issue with Ozzie playing Kotsay right now, especially since he isn't hitting high in the order. Yeah, hitting him 6th is smart while he's hot too. At least give teams A LITTLE to think about when Q is up there in the 5 spot (although still, nobody is going to throw Q a meatball because Kotsay is behind him, but at least with Kotsay hot you can't just ignore him).

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Its either that or Orlando Hernandez's disappearing act. I'd put the AJ play above that. Even if we lose the El Duque game, we're up 2-1 in a best of 5 and have a home game left. If we lose the AJ game, we're 0-2 headed west for 3 in a row. That'd have been rough. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) As Rowand has said, I'm not believing anything until said player has signed at the dotted line or if a sign and trade is finalized. Exactly. This is like college recruiting, even if you get a verbal commitment, it could be backed out on easily. Wait until something is signed.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Damn it, why does Ozzie ALWAYS play Kotsay? Because he's Ozzie Pet (we need to get that term tradmarked).

Yeah, it's sounding more and more like the Celtics may try and get the band back together for one last run at it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) In my book, he does. I was asking you guys the question. Are you going to mock Paulie and boo him out of town if he remains a White Sox and has a simply horrible final year someday? He's not getting any younger and the potential of him having a rotten season to end his career some year is there. I think I know the answer. Dye was mocked heavily last year during his second half struggles. If you want to be a fan who lives for today only, fine. We differ. No, i'm not going to mock Paulie because unlike Scott Podsednik, he's a good player. In fact, he's one of the best players in the history of our franchise. Pods is a prancer who was good for about half a season (well, and I guess he had a little run last year) and hit a big home run. So, in review: Elite player in franchise history who was the best position player in the postseason for an 11-1 team and will have his number retired=a lot of leeway A twinkle toed slap hitter who was good for about half a season, had a little "run" in '09 and hit a really big home run=some good memories of glory, but free reign to be made fun of. -
Well regardless of what I think, it seems like he's got a spot in there for the forseeable future, so hopefully the last 5 games are a sign of something and not just a few good games that don't mean much.

I still want to know why Geoff Blum doesn't get a lifetime pass. His homer is what basically turned a potentially longer series into a sweep. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) If we could somehow get Gordon back on track, use Viciedo exactly like we used him yesterday (replace him late with Omar for defense), and with Q seemingly back, that would improve our offense a ton. I agree it'd be nice to get Gordon back on track somehow, but we don't have the luxury to wait for Gordon to get back on track anymore. We're in the thick of the race, it'll be July as of tomorrow, and we need our best lineup out there. Right now, that lineup doesn't include him.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) The guys's home run was one of the top moments in Chicago sports history ... period. The guy should have a lifetime pass from fans in Chicago. Case closed. When you say Pods, you should think of one of the greatest moments in Sox history. One of the best days of your sports life. If you are "critical" of him my opinion is you should feel ashamed. That's my take. When I think of Pods, I think of a mediocre player who had a really nice run for the first half to two thirds of the 2005 season, then hit an incredibly important and awesome home run, which was shocking in large part because he was a mediocre player. I'm not sure how you look at it any other way than that. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) This is the same reason we have 50 year old men walking around who would proudly blow Mike Singletary if he dropped his pants and pointed to his dong. Ahh the '85 Bears. Another thing revered by some that I don't understand. That's even worse because it's 25 years ago though. At least the '05 White Sox are still relatively recent. I wonder why some people don't understand that you can enjoy a championship and still be critical of those who played a role in it. Not to mention, store a championship and it's glory in your memory bank but otherwise let it go. -

What about Geoff Blum? He hit a pretty big home run too, should we love him forever? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) Do you remember the home run?? How big it was?? Anybody who cheered that home run and slugged shots and drinks after that home run and kissed hot stranger girls in the bars after the home run has no right to say a negative word about Pods. My god. Cub fans are still talking about how great those 69 Cubs were and they choked and didn't win squat that year. Pods rocks. Oh I forgot Pods got picked off a few times in a season where the team wasn't going to win anything significant anyway. Pods gets the last laugh: He has the hottest wife and has money to burn. Yep, definitely a bit. I appreciate your help in solving the mystery! -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) Honestly, from what I am seeing from Viciedo right now, I'd like to give him more at bats and see how he does. Put Dayan at 3rd and Omar at 2nd. I wish Ozzie realized how simple it is.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) There is Pods hate. People were mocking him for ending the game with a K despite the fact he drove in 2 of KC's three runs. I still don't understand whipping boy status of guys like Pods who has provided one of the greatest individual memories in the history of Chicago sports. Just baffles me. Maybe it is the hot wife theory. I know he'd have a statue built of him if he was a Cub for what he did in the WS. Your feelings on everything related to the 2005 White Sox are a bit, right? Nobody could actually feel like you do about them, even now, 5 years later. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) It would be a challenge to win playoff series against good teams. Winning 60-65 games should happen somewhat easily though. Exactly, and Lebron has spent the last 2 years in a situation like that already.
-
You could win with Wade, Bosh, and role players. But as good as the top 3 guys would be, I think it'd be a major challenge to win with Wade, Bosh, LeBron, and a bunch of league minimum guys.
