The end of the streak deserves a thread.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:29 AM) By the way, if my math is right, the Sox are now 19-20 after a win. I think it could be argued this was the most shocking winning streak of more than 10 games in baseball history, and a stat like that only makes such a point even more valid. -

I'm not going to pretend to be a gun expert, and I will say that I think having strict rules on who can and can't have guns legally is necessary. But I've never quite understood what good an outright handgun ban does, it seems like something that would keep guns out of the hands of people willing to obey laws much moreso than those who will just ignore them anyways. Not to mention the fact that the legality of such a law also seems pretty iffy. I guess we'll have to see what affect this has in Chicago assuming the hangun ban is struck down.

Official 2010 World Cup Thread

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:47 PM) US midfielders are legit, the strikers, not so much, and it hurt us. I'm still heart broken. Perfect way of putting it based on everything I've seen in recent years from the US soccer team since I've started following it a lot closer. The midfielders can create chances, but the strikers just can't finish them. Not a succesful formula for winning against good teams, and even moreso when the defense is as shaky as it was in this World Cup. -
I don't know why anybody is worried about the Screamin A comments, just like I don't know why anybody got so pumped at the ones saying he's coming to Chicago. The only thing every "report" we see about this stuff has in common is they're all full of s***. Nobody actually has much of a clue what LeBron is going to do, but is willing to throw s*** against the wall and hope it sticks because people are just eating up every bit of news they can find. We won't know what's the deal until people sign with teams, and that's all there is to it. The Bulls have a very good chance at getting a lot better this summer, which is great, but they could strikeout too. Nobody really knows, regardless of how much they pretend to.

I'm not going to get mad about this. The last 11 games have shown Q might be back on track, but even if he is, that only means we're STILL a bat short rather than two bats short as it appeared before. I think the team realizes this, regardless of what they say. The one concern here is that Ozzie could be serious. If Ozzie is serious, we're not trading for another bat. We learned earlier this month that Ozzie has more power than Kenny (which is why it's still a f***ed up situation, even with our record) and thus, if Ozzie thinks we shouldn't add anybody, we probably won't. But I don't buy Ozzie being dumb enough to not realize we need another bat after seeing what we did the first two months. At all.

The end of the streak deserves a thread.

Couldn't have ended the streak with less pain. Didn't quit in the 9th, won the weekend and season series against the Cubs, and didn't lose ground to Minnesota. Been a great run coming back, and I said going into this weekend that with the numbers as they are, I just hope we win 2 of 3 vs. the Cubs and 2 of 3 at Kansas City to wrap up the month, and we're still on track there. -
Unless i'm going to work or it's the rare occasion I'm going out and there are women there who I care how my apperance looks around, it's almost exclusively a sports related t shirt, nike sandals, and shorts. I'd probably dress like that year round outside of work if I lived in a warm climate. I probably dress overly relaxed, but I put comfort at the top of the list, so whatever.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) Bowman said that no more trades are needed to stay under the cap & re-sign Niemi & Hjalmarsson. I won't believe it until I see Steegiak in a Hawks jersey come October. I don't buy that for a second, but I do think they can get by if they only get rid of one more guy.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) No LeBron or Bosh=Strikeout. Yep, this entire exercise was basically a waste of time if you don't get at least one of them because you aren't winning any titles anytime soon if you get neither.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) No, Threets I do not get why he is not up here The fact that he's not up here yet is the only reason I didn't say Threets. I'm with you though, not sure why he isnt up here already.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) Now if only we can get somebody to replace Randy Williams. Chris Sale?

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) This sentence is so grammatically incorrect.. I fixed it for you. And in it's fixed state, it really makes no sense.. I'm about to leave work and am trying to make a ton of posts in a hurry, thus you ended up with that mess. I've never understood playing grammar police on a message board though, 90 percent of posts are a grammatical nightmare.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) I am so hard for this team, right now. I gave up on them and I’ve never been happier to look like an ass for it. Thank god for Paul Konerko and Gavin Floyd. Also, stop bunting with Pierre on base, Ozzie. You really couldn't not give up on this team, unless you were doing so based on something other than logic. There was no logic not to give up on them, other than it was early (which, by early June, it's really not that early anymore). QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) I think a lot of credit goes to the Blackhawks. Since they won the Cup, the Sox have gone 12-1. The only game the Sox lost was when the Hawks were in attendance, and the Sox just got too nervous from being in their awesome presence. 2.5 games back, WOW!!! Yeah the timing of this run with the Hawks thing is weird. Even the they were just playing crappy NL teams thing took a major hit the last 3 days.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) I am somewhat afraid of the Cubs coming in and beating us. Don't know why, but it's just a feeling. When was the last time this team won 10 games in a row? If an awful Cubs team can come in here and derail our hot streak, let alone season, in a matter of three days....then as Dennis Green said, the Sox are who we thought they were (well, what we thought they were up until about 2 weeks ago).

Sox vs Atlanta June 24th 1:05 first pitch

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) No, I just dislike people who seem to have a vast majority of posts hating on every aspect of the team, then when we win act like nothing happened. All the hate Jenks was getting only a couple weeks ago is now just "well, well, all I was saying was he just isn't good in tie games!!!!" when every post was calling him a useless fatass. I see no need for that bulls*** for a guy like Jenks. Up until early recently, Jenks WAS a useless fatass who hadn't pitched at a high level in quite a while. Just because he's pitching a lot better now doesn't mean he didn't deserve criticism when he wasn't. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) I think it's ok for Williams to go get a bat now. Well amazingly enough we've got back in the race so fast that we might need to wait a couple of weeks just to see what's really available.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) Which is why i wasnt going to b**** about it. Right now, until it bites us I'm just going to enjoy and not get worked about something so trivial. Well it wouldn't have been trivial had we lost the game and winning streak 1-0 or something because we played a bad lineup. Fortunately, that was not how it played out though. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) This unbelievable turnaround seems to be just in time for the reality show...hmmm. Haha, it's all part of the script!
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Twins down to their last out. Think about it, had the freaking Phillies bullpen held on, we'd be 1.5 back. Bah, there are too many games that could go either way for all teams to think like that. And it's official, 2.5 out of 1st, only 2 in the loss column. Amazing.
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) The Mendoza line? I don't know if we have a post of the week or month award here, but I nominate this if we do.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Ozzie can keep making all the terrible lineup decisions as long as our pitchers don't give up runs! Haha first thing I thought when I saw our lineup today was we'd somehow win 1-0 or something. Just about how it played out too, this team can do no wrong.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) This turn around is almost to good to be true, but I don't want to wake up from the dream. Agreed, this is absolutely unbelieveable.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) I agree for the most part, I certainly don't think LBJ wants to play second fiddle to anyone, but again, if Pat Riley and Wade show up at Lebron's door with a promise Chris Bosh is going to join the Heat, I have hard time believing GarForPax is going to be able to convince Lebron to play for Chicago in December and January. I don't think it'll be as hard to still convince them to come here in such a scenario as you might assume. Miami is no doubt a legitimate opponent in this, but even if they have enough room to do that, the Bulls have more than a punchers chance as far as i'm concerned. Half of the Heat games are not in Miami, endorsement possibilities are way better here, and the Heat don't have a point guard anywhere near the level of Derrick Rose to distribute (which I know LeBron can do, but still).

So the Bulls will have the MLE available to use? Good deal, I had read conflicting reports on that in a few places.
