Atlanta can have fun with that contract. I'm not a huge JJ fan though so it wouldn't break my heart if that news is true.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) Where the hell did he end up? If Robert Stack weren't dead, I think Bart would have made an Unsolved Mysteries appearance by now. -

Ozzie has really been a whipping boy since the Mackowiak in CF stuff in 2006. He didn't get much of a grace period after the World Series. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) El Duque obviously more than redeemed himself in the playoff but I seem to remember him being hated as a starter. Pretty sure you could hear a collective cringe from White Sox nation when Ozzie put him in against the Red Sox. It did not help he took the last playoff roster spot from (at the time) fan favorite Brandon McCarthy. Wilson Betemit was more of a personal choice. I don't know if I've ever seen a worse fielder. The bolded is definitely true, although that choice paid off, and was understandable at the time as well since Brandon was very green at the time, didn't have much bullpen experience, and El Duque had all of those playoff notches on his belt. I didn't groan when he came in against Boston though, I was just pissed at Marte for sucking/glad he was at least out of the game. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) I think it has to do with the David Wells deal? I think he still wrote for BP when that deal was made. I know Gord Ash was their GM at the time, and I think Law was hired by Riccardi. -

Why does Law hate us again? I've seen the story before, but can't remember it. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) It works for the government, so why not us? I think the government makes two or three holes to fix one, and has been doing that for many years now.

Really need this one, and it should certainly be a great pitching matchup. It's going to be tough sledding in Texas with how they are playing right now and we know either Minnesota or Detroit will win today.

Schoeneweis, another guy I hated. That's actually a good team, the only disagreement I have is I don't think El Duque would be on it. I'd also have Ozuna at 3rd (he played some 3rd IIRC). -
Dirk? No way I could see him leaving Dallas. I refuse to even participate in that pipedream.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 01:02 PM) I don't think people appreciate his defense and presence in the post, which are key to a championship. See Lakers/Boston 2010 NBA Finals I appreciate it, and it would be hard to find another guy like him. But it's even harder to find a guy like Carmelo Anthony.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) I don't think I ever hated a Sox player as much as I hated him. That asshole was the dumbest baseball player I've ever watched in my life. I'm glad somebody else is with me on this one. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) mike jackson was hot garbage in his short time here Oh man, another good name. My friends and I simply called him "the arsonist". We never referred to him by his real name ever. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) We keep saying that about the Twins almost every year and they seem to keep it up throughout the season. Ehh they're right around the #6 range in the AL in runs, average, on base, and slugging so far this year. So pretty consistent.
-
They're overdue for a stretch in which they are extremely unclutch then.
-
I'd give up Noah in a heartbeat for Carmelo. I've really grown to like him, but it's a lot easier to find a rebounder/defender than a 30 point scorer on the wing.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) The Angels have been extremely clutch... Yes, clutch.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 11:59 PM) Believe me, I love baseball enough to rough it out. What about players with girlfriends, fiancees, wives, and even families? Love of baseball doesn't pay the bills, and you're still traveling all the time even though you get minor league pay. It's a pretty tough lifestyle, and I really commend the players who can do it despite being underdog shots to ever even make it to the show.

I didn't mind Daubach. D'Angelo wasn't terrible, but he's to this day the dumbest White Sox player I've ever seen, so he drove me nuts. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) Hey, I tried to tell everyone signing Campbell was a mistake!!!! http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65203 Well it probably was still a mistake, and he's definitely still very overpaid. But I still bet you'd have never believed he could be that relevant a player for a Stanley Cup winner. Not that it's a bad thing, I still can't believe he was. Your point about pressing against the cap in that thread was true too. Dale and the boys weren't listening though I suppose, although when you win a Cup, I guess you ask questions later.
-
Yeah Q for Dunn doesn't make a great deal of sense.
-
I've thought all along there would be some false alarm reports of agreements. We'll see I suppose.
-
I don't think the Bulls have the horses to trade for Carmelo.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 11:37 AM) Someone should try to put a whipping boy team for Soxtalk... It would have a system overload on relief pitchers and outfielders. Javy Vazquez would definitely be the starting pitcher too. You'd probably have Pablo Ozuna in there somewhere too, and if the people here were like me in the early 2000's, D'Angelo Jimenez gets a spot as well. -
Is LaRoche enough though? I think we need either 1 really big bat or 2 respectable ones .
-
I don't think Tony would want to play besides me on the boards either if I went and found some of his old Brian Campbell quotes.
