How much did it end up costing you? Hope you have a good time!

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:28 PM) I don't know...I wouldn't post pictures of my sister or family on a message board. That might just be me, though. Ehh pictures are ok, just don't want to start with posting first and last names (mainly last names, first are probably ok too).

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) There are a couple of other posters that post here that are female as well (Soxy, Melissa just to name a couple) and few in the past, so your not the only one. But yes about 95% of the posters here are male. Yeah, sports message boards are giant sausage fests generally. Thems the breaks!

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) If you wanted to be really, really cheap, there's always the megabus / greyhound, but you'd need about 10 separate trips I'm assuming. Amtrak seems like a pretty good solution though. Yeah Amtrak is a good idea if you're willing to deal with the really long trip.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) I find it funny that any guy actually takes compliments from waitresses as anything other than looking for a bigger tip. Not a shot at you, Don, but in general. Yep, very true. If they're actually interested, they'll make it really obvious. Otherwise, just looking for a tip.

QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) In. Everyone said talk when we get to .500 well we got there lets keep it going I think getting to .500 is what has moved a lot of people from out to on the fence.

Chris Sale signs for a bargain; expected in majors this year

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) This is awesome. Agreed, it seems like Sale and the Sox kind of pulled the wool over everybody's eyes on this one. Love it. -
Couldn't possibly be more on the fence about our chances than I am right now. I couldn't have been too much more out about them than I was two weeks ago after the Cleveland series though, so they've certainly made major progress. But I need to see the good play continuing, and against Major League teams (not National League ones) before I'm fully in about our chances. Be nice to get 2 of 3 against Atlanta since they're actually a legitimate team, and the only one we play until July starts.

Shannon is a name that has treated me well in the past, so I'd go with that.

You could fly to Roanoke if you can find somebody willing to make the two hour or so drive to pick you up and drive you back to the airport when you leave, they had some very good deals there in my experience. Or you could do the drive to LAX deal too if that works, similar drivetime. Bakersfield to Bristol will probably be an expensive flight though because it's podunk airport to podunk airport. A quick search on the website of the Tri-City airport in Bristol shows me you can do a round trip flight matching your qualifications for about 600 bucks a person on United. Best I could find out of Bakersfield was over 800 on US Airways with 2 stops. Of course, I did those searches in a matter of seconds, so you could probably do better in both regards.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Just think of the Cutler drama, the Lovie/Martz drama and the 3-13 season with a new coach, GM, owner and high draft pick next season! Yeah. It depresses me too. Ehh they'll probably go 7-9 again or something. I just hope whatever they do, go all out. No 9-7 crap where nothing changes and the team still isn't going anywhere. Either surprise everybody and go 12-4 or suck and go 5-11 please. And if you want to get more depressed, think of the 2011 lockout. -

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) I haven't been that impressed with Brazil, at least compared to some of their other teams. Argentina is probably better. They're beatable with their lack of care for defense. Ahh but that's why i've been so impressed by them, I think they can turn it on defensively. I'm hoping to see an Argentina/Brazil game, that'd be great. -
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 10:37 PM) Sorry if it's been asked already, but how did he look today at the plate and in the field? I see he hit into a RBI DP and also started one defensively. Don't get an RBI on a double play. He hit the ball hard 3 of his 4 plate appearances and had a hit (swung through what appeared to be a hanging breaking ball to strike out his last at bat). Looked good on defense today too when he had chances. I can see why Ozzie called him "The Cuban Pimp" and then "The Cuban Tank" when the PR people yelled at him for the first nickname.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) He also said Strasburgs was much, much worse. Like Jeff said, you really could say that to most prospects even with the "perfect mechanics" right Mark Prior? I think they could be right about Strasburg. Every time I watch him pitch, visions of Kerry Wood circa 1998 dance in my head. -
Who makes the All Star Game for the Sox?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Konerko's problem is that there are 3 1b with OPS higher than him. Morneau, Youkilis, and Miguel Cabrera. He has the 2nd most home runs and RBI from that position behind Cabrera, so he's legitimately in the running. Exactly. Selection show is in 2 weeks I believe, and he needs to have a good 2 weeks. -
Over .500 and within 5 games by the end of the month!
whitesoxfan101 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm absolutely stunned at the Sox performance the last 4 series, I didn't think they had a stretch like this in them. However, they've basically beaten up crap (although that's not something they were doing all that well, so they deserve some credit). There are only 6 interleague games left, with 3 against the Braves. Need to try and get 2 against them, take care of the Cubs, do well at Kansas City, and then see what happens when July 1 arrives and they begin playing major league opponents again. -

whitesoxfan101 replied to sin city sox fan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Responding to greg775 posts is something nobody should do anymore. He's not even serious, he's just trying to get a rise out of people, and is succesful in doing so. Ignore him and he'll go away. As for the ALl Star Game, Rios is in and Konerko is a coin flip in my opinion. Nobody else should even be mentioned. -

I'll add a great deal of insight to this thread by pointing out that Brazil is really good. I don't know how that team ever loses. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) Yeah, but at this point I think you just have to assume US is in with a win, not with anything else. Placing doesn't matter either, with Group D in chaos. I think it'll be much easier playing an Algerian side with nothing to play for than one with hopes of advancing. You could always see them putting guys forward to expose our weak D. Yeah that is true. I think Algeria will just say f*** it and push guys forward no matter what though. Nothing to lose if they're already out, and trying to expose the weak d if they aren't. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) God ESPN, stop hyping Algeria getting a result (they're saying needing a win, no less) as a must for the US. Hell, it's probably better if England wins straight up. Algeria getting something means U.S. is guaranteed moving on with a win. If not, you could still get all kinds of complications if Slovenia and England draw (although I find that to be unlikely). So I get them doing that in a sense. -
QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) If he doesn't play every day, does Steve Stone go off on Ozzie? Probably not, he treats us with kid gloves for the most part. He knows where the paycheck is coming from. At any rate, hopefully the Cuban Pimp gets some burn. See what he can do.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) His mom died I know his Mom died, and that explains a lot of the weird stuff he did. It's certainly understandable he wasn't all there after his Mom died (most of us would be devastated by that), but don't make an absolute pile of slop of an album because of it, just take a break.

Does it matter that Quentin has sucked this season?
whitesoxfan101 replied to Vance Law's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's not a very good fielder (unless there are defensive metrics that prove me wrong) and has an OPS barely above .700 and an OBP barely above .300. So yes, it does matter he sucks. -
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Didn't know there was such a thing!! haha jk Yeah, he was good pre 808s. Not sure what happened on that album.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) Donovan said afterward that the refs didn't even speak English. How does that happen? It seems like it'd be kind of hard to have every ref speaks the language of both teams in every game. Still seems like that'd be a good thing though. And if i'm reading this right, the only way you could have the three way tie where you need a lottery is if England beats Algeria 1-0, the U.S. beats Algeria 1-0, and England and Slovenia tie at 2. Because then you couldn't separate the teams in any sort of way.
