Who knew we'd get to the point where the best thing for the Bulls might be a Bosh S&T in Cleveland so he can join LeBron. Strange process.

QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) I hate Luol Deng, and his contract. It is going to be extremely painful watching him play next season, and to know not moving him might be the reason we end up shut out here. I'm not sure the Luol Deng deal is the reason the Bulls strike out if that's how it plays out. And even if it is, don't blame Deng for signing the deal, blame John Paxson for offering it.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I agree completely. I'd love to have a true impact bat like Fielder, but if I'm going to roll the dice, I'd take my chances with Berkman over LaRoche. If we eat the majority of his remaining salary, we should be able to get him without giving up Viciedo, Flowers, or Hudson. Love your screen name. It's so uncreative that it's actually creative.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) Bosh S&T to Cleveland Bulls sign Boozer and Wade? Exactly. If the Heat can't get Bosh, their best shot really is at Boozer. The Bulls could afford Boozer/Wade without having to do a S&T, and Boozer/Wade/Rose/Noah is way better than Boozer/Wade/skeleton roster.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) Until this last week, I really didn't understand the main reason Lebron is likely to re-sign with Cleveland... He's not an employee. He's an enterprise. He has a network of friends and family that are 'on his payroll'... If he pulls out of Cleveland, life changes for ALL of them. I haven't seen any signs that he's willing to pull the plug on that network. In fact, if anything, it seems recently like they have more power. Add on top of that, that Cleveland can offer him a bigger contract than anyone else. And a roster that should be able to go deep in the playoffs again. And he's playing in his 'hometown'. If he stays, he'll be loved forever. If he leaves, they'll hate him like Thome. Is there any reason he should leave? It would have to be pretty freaking compelling. Bottom line: he ain't going anywhere IMO. A better chance to win a championship. But it seems more and more debateable by the day if that's LeBron main interest.

The Raptors have been willing to do a S&T with Cleveland all along, I'm not sure where the idea they weren't came from. The key is that Bosh hasn't been willing to go to Cleveland, he'd rather play in a bigger market. But like I said, his options aren't quite as wide open as he thought, so maybe LeBron can convince him (although that's still certainly iffy). At this point, I hope he can and soon because Bosh to Cleveland gives us a great shot at getting Wade IMO.

QUOTE (SnB @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) summerfest is so much better than the taste of chicago, holy crap So true. I went to summerfest for the first time several years ago, haven't been to the taste since. Although I never was much a fan of the taste anyways. But summerfest is definitely awesome.

The team that has to feel best about the way this is working out other than Boston and Los Angeles? The Oklahoma City Thunder. No superteam has been built, and the Celtics and Lakers are getting old. It could be their time in the near future. I think the idea Wade is filming a documentary has been shot down btw. I thought only Bosh is actually doing that.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:37 AM) BOSH DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY IN CLEVELAND. This was confirmed by his agent. He isn't going to play with Lebron if it's in Cleveland This was confirmed by his agent when they assumed there were going to be many side and trade opportunities. Right now, that doesn't appear to be the case though. If Bosh wants to go somewhere in a S&T, it's probably down to Houston and Cleveland (and maybe Dallas I guess?) Unless they can agree to something with Miami or the Bulls, but neither such scenario sounds likely right now. I guess it's all a fluid thing though.

I bet De Aza could match the numbers Andrew Jones has put up since late April if given a similar amount of playing time.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) I actually went to a backstreet boys concert at ravinia a few weeks ago. As terrible as the music was, I actually had a fantastic time. If you can bring your own alcohol, food and are outside on a nice night you can usually manage to have a good time. Well, reading this made me feel better about the worst concert i've ever been to being Dave Matthews Band. So thank you.

I remember half jokingly telling my friends the Bulls would end up with Boozer and some sort of white gunner like Kyle Korver or Mike Miller about a week and a half ago. Maybe I shouldn't have laughed when I said that at the time.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) much has been made of this "Quality Starts" run the sox are on (I think it's now 23 in 25 games). Did you guys know that the 2009 Sox led the AL in quality starts and that every Sox team (even 07) going back to 2005 has been in the top 5 in the AL in QS? The 2010 Cubs are second in the NL in quality starts... how much can this stat really mean with results like that? Generally speaking, good teams are at the top of the QS list but the results can be all over the map. Well in regards to the quality start point of the Sox and Cubs this year, the QS means a lot more to the Sox than the Cubs. Quality starts not only show starting pitching strength, but they also protect your bullpen. When your bullpen is a good group overall like ours is, that's very important. It means you keep it relatively fresh, and it also means that when you do go to them, you can largely go with the better arms out there and only use the weaker links in blowout situations. The same can't be said for the Cubs bullpen, which is basically Marmol and nothing else at the moment.

It's all over if that's true (that being the Wade/Bosh to Miami thing). The free agent bonanza, the Bulls chance at being meaningful again, the period of hope for this franchise that we've had for the first time since Jordan retired. All of it. So let's hope it's not true.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) Texas can't add salary. Forget about them. That's true too, although I will say Cincinnati can add salary. But to the point you're quoting, the Reds and Rangers have got good again at long last due to a mixture of shrewd veteran acquisitions and building from within. To just dump the farm now for a 3 month rental goes against everything those two franchises are trying to do, and are now seeing success in doing.
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 07:58 AM) How does Texas or Cincinnati not mortgage everything they have for Cliff Lee? Because that would go against everything both of those franchises have done to get themselves where they are now after a long period of irrelevance.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) Chris Broussard just said on M&M that this crap could drag out till Friday now. I'm so sick of this. Would this idiot just pick Cleveland so Kobe can call him and thank him for guaranteeing him a 6th ring. I seriously think LeBron might stretch this out for another week or two (or more?) to stroke his own ego. He has an excuse to as well as long as Bosh is out there since his camp can leak out that he's still trying to convince Bosh to do a S&T to join him in Cleveland.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) At this point I've lost all excitement about this decision. At best the Bulls have a 50/50 shot of getting one of the big two That's kind of how I've felt all along. If anything, this whole thing has been discouraging. The Bulls have always had a realistic shot at getting one of the big three so there was reason to have some good feelings, but it's always been an overall underdog proposition. And if you don't get any of them, you're probably stuck in NBA jail for a long time unless you get lucky, because Carlos Boozer (or David Lee) and a shooter or two isn't going to be enough to win anything relevant. The one guy I still have some hope for is Wade. Particularly if Lebron is trying to go back to Cleveland and can convince Bosh to do a sign and trade to join him. That'd leave Wade with nothing in Miami, and make it really hard for him to stay.
-
Agreed on the jumper (like I said, Wade wasn't a very good jump shooter when he was younger either, and it's just generally something you can improve on with work). I'm not sure Derrick Rose can become the best player in the NBA though, that's a bit of a stretch. He could move into the top 5, maybe even sneak into the top 3 in the coming years though.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) Hicks and Ramos I'd be willing to argue that if the Twins actually offered that, the deal would be done already. That's an overpay for a half season rental of a pitcher IMO.

The more I think about it and read the boards, the more I think that Teahen will give Kotsay a run for his money in this department before all is said and done in 2010. -
The pitching had to get out of a few uncomfortable situations, but overall, this might have been the best all around game we've played all year. Can't think of anthing to complain about. Go get another one tomorrow.
-
Oh I don't think there is any doubt that the Bulls would have multiple titles in store if Wade and Bosh came to town. That's why this is so incredibly important. It's the difference between glory and NBA jail.
-
Teahen's bat isn't my concern, his glove is. I'd be willing to try him at 2nd, but I don't want to see him at 3rd.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) That's interesting...I never thought they were very similar. I am certainly no basketball scout, but I knew when I saw Wade at Marquette that he would become a very special player. I told everyone that would listen that he would probably be the player who most resembled Jordan in this era. And I still stand by that claim. Rose, on the other hand, has always struck me more as your classic PG. Isiah Thomas is who he always reminds me of...can score if he must, but the overall game is much more a blend of dishing, scoring, running the offense. Rose is definitely more a classic PG (Wade really isn't equipped to be playing point in the NBA even if you wanted him to for some reason), but a lot of what Rose and Wade do is very similar. Both are explosive athletes, love to go to the basket, not great long range shooters, can get open shots for teammates, have the ability to get involved rebounding moreso than guards of their size typically do, etc. Wade is definitely a better shooter and scorer though, although I think Rose is going to get more calls going to the basket as time goes on which will equal more free throws and more points.
