QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) Way to go, Carl. We definitely need that guy around here. Yes - Everett has gotten some great clutch hits...now Konerko will hit right to the 2nd baseman for a douple play..

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Yeah, this is eerily similar to last year...and I don't like it at all. This is similar to the game in Colorado when he gave up a three run homer and put 0's up the rest of the game.. Of course that game in Colorado wasn't Game 3 of the series so Ozzie didn't put seven automatic outs in our line up...

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) Greene singles to center. 2 outs. Hey - Perez was supposed to boot that ball!! Why is he doing what Ozzie put him in to do?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Freddy, you're going to HAVE TO keep throwing up 0's until we get enough solo bombs to take the lead. He might just do that...

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) Klesko strikes out. 1 out. Joey and Harold: Ozzie - you have Thomas pitching today? Harris catching? Borchard on first? Josephine Cruddy in right field? Juan 'swing at ball four' Uribe in left field? - did you mean to make this line-up?" Ozzie: "It is important that all guys are given a chance !! This is my F---ing team...!! "

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) Beauty Freddy!!!!!! Freddy has settled in..but our Triple A outfield will do everything to help these Pads score..

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I still hate him, I did that in surprise Freddy has been known to get hit early and then shut them down...and also this is not the Padres greatest pitcher..this game is still very winnable..

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) TIMO TIMO TIMO TIMO :puke Actually Timo HAS been hitting lately...

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) I said it earlier. When your manager basically gives up every 3rd game of the series, it has an effect on the players who at a subconscious level give up too. I blame Ozzie for this disaster.....focking bastage The thing I don't get is giving your two best hitters (Rowand and Iguchi) a rest.. Give Pop-Up Crede a rest - if you want to rest your players..why is he always taking our hottest hitters out all the time?

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) I wonder if Franks ankle isn't well enough yet to play defense...if Ozzie is going to give people work, I am kind of surprised Frank isn't playing first and sitting Paulie... Hits don't bother me (well - they do)..but balls and walks by the pitcher I can't stand..

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) So far its sox=1 ozzie=0 Ozzie has been a good manager...but when he makes a stupid move it one one H--- of a stupid move!

QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Lets hope this isnt like yesterday where we score 1 run in the 1st and thats it. Yesterday - they should have had a big inning in the first...man on second - one run in..no outs and could not get a couple more runs.. Yeah-Hermanson blew the save, but the White Sox should have had 4 or 5 runs, not one going into the ninth inning...the lack of clutch hitting blew that game, but we are always like that against pitchers from Triple A...

QUOTE(Traveler1776 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) For what it's worth, it is a fact that Reinsdorf wanted to build a suburban stadium. The only reason it did not happen is because the Mayor kept all of the Chicago legislators' votes off of the legislation that was passed to fund the ISFA and the new stadium. Without those votes, the Sox would be playing in the Crap Dome down in St Pete. Even with those votes, the stadium deal barely passed and only after the Gov personally twisted some arms on the floor of the General Assembly and the clock was stopped so the bill only needed a majority to pass . . . I just wish that they would fix some of the awful construction and congestion problems on the Dan Ryan. As a former suburbanite and later downstater, it was a mess to get to the park. Much happier that I'm a Red Line trip away for the past 5 years. Yeah - the neighborhood is definitely changing...I live in Pilsen and my area which is not far at all from the park......Chinatown, Pilsen, Bronzeville, Bridgeport, Back of the Yards...all those areas will be more fun..but you are right - it is unfortunate for some of the families who have lived in the areas for years and are being priced out..

QUOTE(Fotop @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) Welcome to Soxtalk! What did happen to the development on 35th and State? When is it supposed to start? I have seen the sign for two years now but have not seen any construction? Does anyone have a link on what it will look like when it is complete?
-
One thing I noticed about the weaker links in our bullpen (particularly Cotts, Marte, even Visciano and Takatsu to a point).. Have you noticed they are much better if they start OFF an inning (no outs, no one on) then when they come into a situation where there is two or less outs and runners are on?).. I have observed this this season...for example Cotts was great when he pitched the seventh and eigth last night (he started both innings) - but I bet if he came on during an inning with runners on..they would have scored.. Anyone else observe this?

Just an FYI to put to rest all the be-moaning of why don't the Sox sell out? etc. The White Sox averaged 21,800 in April. That is the highest April average for the White Sox since 1994 (pre-strike days). We had two games over 30,000 and five over 20,000. That is not bad at all for April (even for a winning team). I guarantee you if we are averaging 22,000 in April we will average well over 30,000 during the summer and the rest of the season. Everyone thinks our attendance is bad just because Wrigley sells out every game (but that is an exception). We were drawing around 2.5 million per year in the first part of the 90's until the strike hit. Then we had seasons were we only drew 16,000 per game. The attendance has actually been on the rebound the last couple years and I believe if we are competitive we will consisitently draw 2.5 million plus as we did before. Yes - we will have a few games still around 15,000, 16,000 (KC weekday) But everyone chill and just enjoy this season and the stadium will be rocking this summer.

I always like the New Comiskey - even before the renovations.. I remember at the old park you couldn't see half the time because of the poles..it was cramped and uncomfortable. Then the new park was built...no poles...spacious..comfortable (remember how great everyone thought it was in 1991?) Then Camden Yards, Jacobs Field and wah..wah..wah...(stale..steep upper deck..blue seat..wah)... Personally..these new retro parks are no longer unique..everyone is trying to outcharm the other.. To me U.S. Cellular is a combination of retro and modern which I think makes it a special ballpark. It does look better with the changes. But I have been to many parks and think ours is one of the best (and one of the most underrated). As the neighborhood improves - our park's image will increase as will attendance. No one thought Wrigley was too great in the 1960's and 1970's until that neighborhood became Yuppieville. I think the area around Comiskey will actually be much nicer in five years than the area around Wrigley Field now.

I grew up in Chicago as a big White Sox fan and moved to Columbus six years ago before returning to Chicago this fall so the last game I went to at Comiskey was 1999. Driving by the park recently I was amazed at the changes to the stadium from the outside and even the changes in the neighborhood ! I have seen some of the stadium changes on T.V. but not in person. I purchased four tickets to opening day (fifth row - upper deck ) and can't wait to see the inside for the first time since the changes. I always loved baseball - but could not stand how the Sox were always treated by people as a bad stadium in a bad neighborhood - but I think this is great that this is not true anymore. I am excited about what I think will be a terrific team this year. I was wondering-what other changes are planned for Comiskey? Also - how much do you think the area will change in the next five to ten years? Will it be a more lively iarea so people hang around after a win (or even a loss) instead of everyone leaving after the game? It is good to be back. Tony
