QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) I like the swings I've been seeing from basically everyone but Rowand. PK is absolutely on every single pitch. "Just pour water" swings at the first pitch...

For anyone who is worried about the surging Indians...yes - they are hitting over .300 for August but their pitching and bullpen are not too good. As we well know..hitting is streaky-but pitching will carry a team through slumps. Cleveland had been playing well over their heads the last few weeks scoring six plus runs a game (I guarantee you - THAT WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT LAST)... So don't worry too much about the Indians.. Go White Sox !!

I keep hearing Ozzie, Hawk, DJ, etc...talk about how.."well it is good that we are resting so and so for the playoffs...come playoff time this player will need to, etc.".. It almost seems that there is this mentality that it is September 18th (not August 18th) and that the division has been clinched and we can just coast along... How secure do you think making the playoffs are? I know that we have about a 95 % chance..but still...teams have blown huge leads late in the season.. I almost wish the lead would shrink somewhat to wake this team up out of its trace and also Kenny Williams would do something (another bat...I know he tried..but the Sox never seem to have that go for it mentality that other teams have..)... Am I just worrying? that the lead will just naturally fluctuate between ten and fifteen games? I am not panicking..but I am getting kind of tired of the complacency I see from the White Sox... Any thoughts?

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) THANK GOD WE HAVE A HUGE LEAD IN THE DIVISION!! I almost hope the lead goes down ...so Kenny and Jerry realize that this team needs help and snaps out of their complacency...

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Get him out Freddy He does not look too sharp this inning..

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Can someone with TV coverage tell me how Anderson has looked? Let's just put it this way...be glad you don't have TV Coverage..

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Eduardo Perez is a stud. I'd love him on this team as a righty bat off of the bench. That would ruin the CHEMISTRY and where would we find room for him?

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) for those of us not watchin....was that close to being a triple play at all? did iguchi even throw to 1b? I am listening on the radio.. I dont' think so..
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) Iguchi was extremely close to getting taken out big time right there. Thankfully, Abernathy backed off at the last second. YESS !!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) Watch out for the hit-and-run. Unfortunately Freddy's pattern at home is that every time we tie it..he gives it right back the next inning.. He doesn't do this on the road...
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) funny how for hawk, there was all the room in the world on this team for thomas to DH, but no room at all for griffey who is younger lefthanded, can actually play the field and hits for a higher average ....i guess i dont get it $$$$$$$$$$$
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) AJP has gone back to his uppercut swing. I heard the Sox were bringing in someone to help the hitters with their swings..?
-
QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) ok, so what happens if the sox land griffey, how is hawk going to cover his ass? Hawk is covering the Sox ass if they don't land Griffey ...

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) but the catcher should know its coming, right? Iguchi got a hit..better sit him the next 8 games !!!

QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) Here comes out # 1...a groundout... Sorry TIMO !!!!
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) i didnt see the WP right there, but has anyone noticed, and it happens mostly when freddy is on the bump, that AJ doesnt block the ball to his right. seems like he tries to stab at it with the mit. its really the only thing i can say anything about with AJ. just seems he doesnt block the fastball to his right as well as other catchers, and lets some balls that most catchers would get to get by him Here comes out # 1...a groundout...

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) If it was anyone but the Twins, I would agree. We have more games left this season against them than anyone else. Pheww !! Now quit swinging for the fences and get some walks or hits..!!
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Timo's average is 213 points higher than Brian Anderson's! I know he tried..but I am a little irritated with Ken Williams not getting us one hitter..... This (if it is working don't change it and CHEMISTRY) attitude is exactly what we did in 2000...well the CHEMISTRY did not help much in the playoffs..
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) :fyou Stewart!! Let's everyone swing for the fences tonight !!!

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) The Bar idea I Like. Yeah - it would be great if they could clinch at home but on the road - we should all organize watching the final games at Puffer's when the magic number is down to 2 or 1.. Most of my family are Yankee's fans (my dad's from New York and the only two White Sox fans and my mom and myself).. 1993 was great as I was at that game..but 2000 was not as fun when they won in Minnesota - most of my friend's are Cubs Fans and I was watching the game alone and celebrating alone that day).. It would be great to celebrate with a group of die-hards...
-
Although it is disappointing that we will probably lose 2 out of 3 and maybe get swept...the Indians who were winning like crazy look as they may lose 2 out of 3 to the Devil Rays so we will probably start this weekend with a 12 game lead and end it with a 12 game lead (knocking one more tough series off the August schedule and lowering the magic number in the process).. Just a silver lining and Boston has been almost unbeatable at home. If you are down - just think about the 12 game lead and how the celebrating in September when we clinch... I think the Soxtalk members should meet when the magic number is down to 2 or 1 at some bar if the Sox are on the road and celebrate..
