  1. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Ok, even if Blum must play, why the f*** is he batting in front of Uribe? Ozzie didn't want to hurt his "feelings" by having him bat 9th? Great that Ozzie plays bad players so not to hurt thier feelings..what about the fans feelings?
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) A few .300+ hitters wouldn't hurt either A few .250 + hitters wouldn't hurt either !
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) I laughed, shook my head, and went to look at some second half splits for AL shortstops. I bet half of them are better than everett. GASP !!! Out hitter did not swing at ball four? What are they thinking?
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) We have replaced players before. The new ones hit like the old ones. All long looping swings, their OBP dies, their power numbers jump. I was listening to a pre-game show with Bruce Levine asking Walker about the hitting problems and he said "you can only do so much..you don't want to interfere too much with a hitter's technique.." I could not believe he had said that. If the technique is bad - you wouldn't want to interfere with it and improve it?
  5. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Yep. If we do blow this, it's going to be VERY hard for this franchise to overcome this for quite awhile. Sad but true. If they blow their lead to Cleveland - but still make the wildcard - that is not so terrible (the playoffs are the playoffs !).. But if they don't even make the wild card - I cannot watch this team for a few years no matter how good they play. I hate to say that - but as much as I love the Sox we as fans have been treated very badly some years (the 1994 strike, the White Flag trade, etc.) and I will refuse to let this team do that. Ken Williams could have picked up a bat...he could have gotten someone other than Griffey - a Graffinino, etc...he did fail. And Ozzie gave away at least 10 to 15 games this year with continuously pulling our best hitters (Iguchi, etc.) to give a .200 hitter a chance and not hurt their feelings.... "I want to rest my players" - well you do that AFTER you have clinched a playoff berth...have you noticed no one has been resting since the lead began to shrink? Now maybe they will all get a lot of rest after October 3rd...YOU PUT THE BEST OUT THERE EVERYDAY TO GIVE THE TEAM THE BEST CHANCE TO WIN...YOU DON'T KEEP PLAYING EL DUQUE WHEN HE GIVE UP A RUN AN INNING BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT HIM TO FEEL BAD AND ALSO GET HIS INNINGS FOR HIS $180,000 BONUS... I am sorry to rant....but there have been so many bad moves by Ozzie, KW, etc. the last few months. This should not be happening...
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) If it wasn't meant to be then I would rather have lost it because of a short lead but because it was 15 just makes it very very bad. I am so tired of seeing Carl swing at ball four...he can be a very selfish hitter..
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Yankees have a much easier schedule than we do. Yankees and Red Sox play each the last series.. We could easily beat the Red Sox..
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) This umpire has the smallest strike zone ever. I think we seriously have to look at the wild card....
  9. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Tribe finally lose, magic number down to 14!!! A small breath of fresh air before the KC series tomorrow!!! 6.0 lead looks so much better than 5.5..LOL

    smile

    Yes - A bad weekend.. Yes a lead down to 5.5.. BUT.. Still the best record in the AL by 4 games! Still will be in the playoffs ! Even if Indians remain hot..we still get wild card (Who wouldn't have grabbed wild card in March?) Broke 2 million for first time in a decade (more money for team)... Many teams have played badly in Aug/Sep and played GREAT in the playoffs.. Beautiful ballpark and only getting better !! Neighborhood will be a blast in a few years as it changes.!! Still a great season no matter how it ends..!! GO SOX!!
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Now you must eat your hat. EDIT: I like your threads TLAK. You pull out some really interesting stats, that no one else picks up on from the board or the media. Keep up the good work. Thanks - I needed a thread like this.. And we only need 8 more wins to have 95...95 will put any team in the playoffs..
  12. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Yes!!!!!!!! we play better in front of crappy crowds. Everyone wear blue for the rest of the home games and the playoffs !!!
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Well....that sucked. That was the one place we couldn't afford for Ozuna to hit the ball. He should have been bunting..
  14. QUOTE(tony72 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) That's good...it means we win at home again!! Come on Sox ! Get Jose some runs !!
  15. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) i was going to comment as well. it's like night and day from what it has been, but keith's explanation is probably right. The wind seems to have been taken out of everyone's sails. That's good...it means we win at home again!!
  16. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Juan Uribe is starting at first I would love a sweep..but this is our first west coast road series win since AUGUST of 2000... Even if we don't win today..I am happy with this week-end and the past week... I would love a win today though..but even if they lose this was a great week...
  17. QUOTE(tony72 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) One out for Indians..(not that the Indians could catch the Sox...but I want that magic number to keep falling)... Indians lose...MG # 27...
  18. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) .... Now batting for the Indians, Timo Perez Timo has been great lately...he has had some terrific clutch hits..laid down a great bunt in the 11th last night and made some good plays in the outfield.. I don't understand the hatred....he has been a good player off the bench and seems to be good for the camraderie in the clubhouse..
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Blue Jays with the lead going into the 9th. One out for Indians..(not that the Indians could catch the Sox...but I want that magic number to keep falling)...
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) Anderson will be playing tonight, I guarantee that. Jose has been great the 2nd half.... He has always been a better pitcher after the All Star break....I wonder why this is?...
  21. Gee - I wonder what's going to happen in the top of the 9th....
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Despite all his saves, I feel a lot more comfortable with Jenks or Cotts in the game rather than Hermanson. My heart is still pounding...but overall what a great day !!! 76 Wins!
  23. QUOTE(mac9001 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) You do realize that Cleveland had the lowest bullpen ERA in all of baseball and their starters are slightly above average. They might not have great pitching, but it certainly doesn't "stink". Okay ! Okay ! Just trying to be positive !!!
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Rowand has real short arms. He kind of looks like a penquin. LOL!!! My wife said the exact same thing last night !!!
