  1. Detroit just drafted an 80 name. Brock Deatherage.
  2. Quick, everyone tell Greg they drafted a catcher named Trout.
  3. 65 name seems too low to me, I'd give the name an 80 grade.
  4. They must've spent a lot of resources scouting Bohm.
  5. C Gunnar Troutwine from Wichita State. They must've really scouted Bohm heavily, that's the second Wichita State player they've taken. I did watch some highlights of Wichita State in the leadup to the draft, his name came up a lot for crucial hits and XBHs.
  6. Houston just drafted Austin Hansen. Brother of Alec?
  7. Weren't we all upset that the team couldn't and didn't offer him $250K+?
  8. The minor league system needs an infusion of young talent that won't be ready until the middle to end of the current contention window, so that hopefully, they can extend that contention window.
  9. I love the draft strategy so far. They went with pure baseball players with some upside in the first 3 rounds, then switched to loud tooled athletes who have played some baseball in the next few rounds. Round this off with some decent potential college seniors, then grab some signability concern loud talent tomorrow, and this will be one hell of a draft.
  10. I thought you lost the slot amount for the pick you don't sign?
  11. I don't think they'd draft anybody in the first 10 rounds for which they had signability concerns because not signing a top 10 round pick lowers the bonus pool.
  12. Seems good. At this point in the draft you're not going to get scouting reports that suggest a future star so loud tools and a high ceiling is a good bet.
  13. 6'2" 150?! They must be projecting putting some weight on him and developing some power.
  14. All 30 MLB teams are taking turns in a predetermined order selecting players from high school and college teams who they will then put on their minor league teams in hopes that someday they will be players who contribute to the 25 man major league roster.
  15. 16 MLB players had 70+ extra base hits last year. He may never have a .300 ISO, but .150-.200 isn't out of the question, and that's pretty good.
  16. 20 HR power isn't enough? I seem to remember a World Series Champion that had a LF who hit 0 regular season HRs.
  17. Seems like it. They've been one of the top ranked teams all year.
  18. Switch hitting catchers who hit around .400 in college ball and play at least adequate defense come along way less often than fast HS shortstops.
  19. So, to whoever was concerned about so many good players being on OSU, turns out OSU is just really good. That's 4 players drafted in the first 2 days, 3 of which were 1st round.
  20. I'd also be okay with something like: 2019: $35 million 2020: $40 million 2021: $45 million OPT OUT 2022: $50 million 2023: $50 million OPT OUT 2024: $40 million 2025: $30 million OPT OUT 2026: $25 million 2027: $20 million 2028: $15 million I think if you sign him, getting the first 5 years is key. I'd be willing to structure the deal in just about any way to definitely get those first 5 years barring something crazy happening, maybe get 7 years, and not have to worry about paying a declining 36 year old a whole lot of money.
  21. They're drafting better. Have been since Hostetler took over the process in 2015 (He didn't make the Fulmer pick).
