  1. That says to me that this team could very easily afford a $250m annual payroll.
  2. If it means washing the stink of Jerry off, absolutely.
  3. Exactly, lock it out until Reinsdorf doesn't own the Sox for all I care. Get a salary cap, and eliminate all the "small market teams need a competitive advantage" bullshit that exists now. Make the cap also have a floor like the NFL, only preferably a stricter floor (90% each year rather than 85% on a 5 year rolling average), and if any owner complains about not being able to make a profit under those conditions, force them to sell. Make Jerry spend money until he wants to sell the team.
  4. Based on the data shown, it kind of looks like a cyclical trend? 2008 was at 8.3%, not far off from 8.1%. Maybe this is just the down part of the cycle?
  5. 1) Jerry Reinsdorf dies and his kids sell the team. 2) Reinsdorf actually goes through with this deal to sell to Ishbia, and he upgrades the team to MLB standards at a minimum.
  6. The "not being on the White Sox" effect is likely to help him way more.
  7. Moncada needed an organization that would hold him accountable. Jerry Reinsdorf's White Sox have never been that organization.
  8. Big name signed here? Must be half dead.
  9. Wait, did Jerry sell the team?
  10. Are there any details regarding where the family wants memorial contributions to go?
  11. Is anyone capable of exorcising this demon?
  12. He must've enjoyed the Brock Purdy/Breece Hall years so much.
  13. He was only 37. I've never met anyone on this board, at least knowingly, but like many of you, it was a huge part of my formative years. Heads always seemed like a genuinely kind and caring person, and this news makes me wish I'd gotten the chance to know Alex. I say he was only 37 in part because the persona he portrayed here demonstrated a maturity far beyond his years, and I would've thought he was several years older than me, not a year younger. Insane to think how quickly life can just end. Definitely a reminder to not take anything for granted. I'd like to know if there are public details regarding services, especially if there is a specific cause the family would like memorial contributions to go to. I want to do something in honor of Alex.
  14. Jerry Reinsdorf Jerry Reinsdorf Jerry Reinsdorf Eddie Einhorn Didn't want to have to look at Jerry 4 times, only reason Einhorn gets a spot.
  15. That's unfortunate. I was hoping for historically awful until the problem went away.
  16. Is "field a terrible product" a strategy?
  17. It would be a like-kind exchange, those are typically tax free as long as no money changes hands. Do it Jerry, the Pohlads can sell the White Sox instead.
  18. I'll be shocked if they go 2-17.
  19. Jerry won't allow that, though.
  20. The Sox are in the midst of an 11 game losing streak with 23 games to go. If they lose 16 more in a row, they'll break the all-time record. A win at any point would prevent them from even tying the modern era record of 23 set by the 1961 Phillies.

Good thing we didn't waste a year with an outside GM, am I right?
  22. No, it's much more important to break the all-time losing streak record. This is the last chance this team has.
