Great post. They should have traded for him at his peak. Usual great insight from you you, bud.

He was a 23-year-old monster and the Sox were entering their rebuild how the hell were they supposed to trade for him?

You never know, but he most likely would have had a job by now if he could still be effective.  We'll see.

I mean let's be honest.  They might say they want the Sox to be where players come to revive their careers, but in all honesty, right now it's the place they go when no one else wants them.

What's obvious is they are scrambling to find arms to fill out a rotation when all these young guys inevitably need to get shut down. They still have a whole half of a season to get through and they are going to need someone to pitch.

Yeah, and that's fine.  I'd rather see them save the arms of Smith, Cannon, and Martin.  Let Syndergaard or the next parade of aging arms take some innings in a losing season

This also.  They have already had major injury problems, and are about to hit walls with most of the existing rotation in terms of career high innings outputs.  Unless they want more surgeries, being careful now is a really good idea.  Throwing someone off of the street to fill those innings is smarter than destroying careers.  Look if we are going to go the LAD route of pitching guys until they are hurt, we are going to need a lot more arms anyway.  Either way, we don't have enough depth, and never really did with anything but on paper.

Thanks, bud.  This is just more of the same.  Garbage in, garbage out.  You must also love those Clevinger signings year after year.

A couple guys will get dealt too. Possibly a surprise or two as well.

My candidate for "surprise trade" is Lenyn Sosa.

I think that’s a good candidate for biggest surprise trade.  Not sure I agree that it will happen though.  I can’t imagine Sosa having more value in a trade than his potential value if the Sox just play him.

Any of those guys that Getz keeps blocking make sense as trade candidates.

I meant on the pitching side

If you are able to get a prospect that profiles potentially to the top half of a rotation for any of our existing starting pitching other than maybe Shane Smith, you send them off.  Any vet that gets an offer should go for sure.
