Interestingly, Heyman's tweets are kind of like a referee in a match. He's the guy stepping in between two dudes at a bar fight

The narrative draws to a close. NYY is put back into the rumors, so that Jerry gets the story arc that he defeated the Yankees with a bigger spending offer. 8/260
-
Lozano spread 7/200 to try to get new offers. White Sox likely knew it was false but sent the same report to Van Schouwen and Merkin as a ballsy way of saying 'sure, report that if you want, we don't care' now we're at 175! "Can You Top This" basically. Round and round we go. But what's likely is Passan and Gomez had the real scoop. Sourced from a place outside teams or agents
-
This is Lozano's last stand. Hold firm guys...
-
I hope this is true in that it means other teams don't even want to bother getting into a bidding war with us. But it just takes one, and the price will eventually go up

shit I hadn't heard.

it pisses me off that Buscemi is too old now to reliably play a metalhead in a movie

Nightengale = quid pro quo

If the homeless-ass White Sox sign Manny Machado you will be excited ASAP. Cmon. Stop this lying n' confabulation.
-
It's an atypical situation that would bring the best free agent to the Sox, so even though this atypical-ness is annoying us...our team needs to have this kind of thing be reality in order to have a chance.
-
Speculating, but lets say Harper prefers to be in Chicago over Philadelphia, and those are the two teams that truly have big money. If Manny's people get that sense, and if it's true they have bupkis on mystery teams, it would make sense for them to delay this, so as to make Philly more desperate. If MLB owners are colluding then it makes sense that the two agents might work together a little too.
-
Dont see how anyone could take that to mean KW. KW almost basically walked on out of here for another job a few years ago because he had been decentralized. He's not going to singlehandedly take over our largest outlay in team history.

im an Armchair GM and ive been sitting refreshing so long that i am beginning to make an armchair BM
-
The Athletic article is also saying unequivocally the Phillies tend to tell teams that they will not sign both players
-
Athletic article says Phillies want to wait til February if they have to to use their position of power The risk of us signing machado early is something theyre willing to put up with, because right now they dont think anyone can match their biggest outlay ability (on either player) It says Phillies claim in some circles that Machado is their preference -- but that this could be misdirection, and that they truly prefer Harper. A risk for them is if machado gets signed by a mystery team, Chicago can pivot and throw a ton at Harper. Philly would under this ..risk coming away empty handed
-
I agree, but I also think it would be less public a negotiation if we were a different type of fanbase.
-
What I'm saying is the Lozano side thinks they can use fan pressure on the FO. But for the Sox that does not work, and Jerry shows it does not work by doing exactly what he's doing with Nightengale. Right now the Yankees fans feel insulted, and what theyre going through right now (aesthetically) is nothing compared to what we're being put through
-
Feels like we are going through the final stages of the electroshock routine here
-
when this is all over i am going to be too exhausted to order my season tickets. will need an extended rest and perhaps warm bath
-
Lozano is using Passan/Gomez (likely telling the truth, but still being used) in order to get the Sox fan base to pressure Jerry on closing. Jerry, in turn, likes to turn around and prove his gall, that he doesnt give a shit about public perception. So he sends out Levine/Nightengale/Schouwen.

It's the kiss of death when Hawk takes an extra special interest in you as a player.
