Frightening but we have to consider Broadway as throwing his hat into the ring for RH relief time.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Nice Oz was able to get the whole f***ing team in this game i know we're not going to win, but to pull people this early is not right to me. Shows no faith in the team from Ozzie, as good as NY's back end is.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) It really pisses me off that we didn't give Poreda a chance to pitch out of the bullpen. I was against that line of thinking and am now converted. Actually i'm converted over to 'anything but this'

Hawk is right now telling me that I too can pitch in the majors. Watching our team, I believe it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) Ramirez has allowed 27 base runners in 11 innings. Lets groom Clayton for his role as soon as he's rested up again.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:48 PM) i can't believe people are ragging on javy firstly, he sucks against the yankees, every pitcher has a team that he struggles against. cleveland lights up mark like a christmas tree over his career javy also is pitching on 3 days rest, you think maybe that might have something to do with this? look at our f***ing offense, if you want to really point a finger. i'm agreeing. 1-2-3 innings by our offense dont help Javy any.

I feel like i've been watching 18 innings, not 4.

Hate to say this but it's kind of a fitting end to the century-series at this park. My dad has the same Yankee related thoughts that I do.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) I guess I was just confused, seeing a Dye is going to get a lot of MVP votes, Thome has hit 30 bombs again, and Konerko has been dealing with injuries pretty much all season. Thats what I meant. another consideration is how older players get towards the end of the year. Dye being a prime example of hot early, not late. Thome has not been dinged up lately but I wouldnt doubt it's wear and tear that isnt public and is catching up to him lately.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) Holy crap, I just checked gameday and we are only down 4-1. I would've thought it was 8-0 White Sox by reading this thread. Just wait. Yes i think that 1 could get erased somehow.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) I'm all for it as well, the only problem being is they thought Swisher was going to be there young CF with a high OBP and I'm sure they're not ready to give up on him just yet. It's not ideal, but since Swisher is at least somewhat cheap, I dont have a problem w/ mixing him where possible. With Thome's back and Konerko being dinged up, I'm sure he'd have long stretches where we'd need him. I guess because of that contract being pleasant, I'd love to get something for Swish to a cost-conscious team that wants a name. Read: KC... and they have a history of reclamation projects.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Who are these players you speak of? The heart of the order refers to the 3-4-5 which is Dye/Thome/Konerko. i dont mean to be condescending but you asked it while bolding the phrase "heart of the order"

Something great by Javy here could pump up the team. Here's hoping.

If i started a poll, how many guys would want Clayton to see time in the Twins series instead of more no-rest-ing to get Javy /Floyd/ Mark in that series.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) BTW, I'm curious to know, what does "Youth" bring to the lineup? Power, speed, clutch hitting? What does "youth" do to change the lineup? I kind of addressed this already but I want someone who can still catch up to it. I feel like the heart of our order cant physically get the bat around like they used to. agreed, a 30 yr old guy who can still do this is fine by me. i just think we held onto some of these guys too long, when we still couldve retooled instead of totally dumped em. but maybe not,we'll see.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) I guess I'm in the minority here...but I'd like it if OC took a nice 3-year deal to stick around and keep Lexi at 2nd. By then Beckham should be ready to be up here every day. Find a 3B and keep Juanny as your utility guy. I know it probably won't happen...but that's what I'd like. If they can get a high obp guy in here somewhere else i'm all for this. Hell if you need 2b for the incoming guy, try Alexei in CF.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) Swisher, Quentin and Ramirez are all younger players. Maybe giving Anderson/Wise a chance....and Fields...could conceiveably occur. Of course, nobody likes that version of "youth movement," we only want MVP's and ROY candidates. I just want someone who can still catch up to it. In their best flashes, our older hitters can still punish the ball, but it's only in flashes these days.

This offense is killing me right now. I want some youth injected into 09. Frighteningly, Hudson means "youth" to us.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) First, no doubt. Everyone says their pitching sucks, but their team ERA is like 4.32. Thats what gives me hope , at least as far as going into Minn. Yanks are way better than that team and we're at least hanging. and yea, imagine what OUR era would be facing that division constantly

Where would the Yankees as presently constituted place in the AL Central?

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) True. Though having a healthy Crede, Linebrink and Paulie wouldve made a big difference too. Everybody has injuries though. Just pissed it was our MVP. Lets not forget Contreras. And Nick Swisher's apparent brain injury.
