  1. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,7845987.story Not that this would shock anyone, but Guillen is stating that he will go forward refusing to think about a possible return for CQ. At the very least, I like hearing that he hasnt completely shut the door on that possibility. He seems like the kind of guy that publicly would if doctors (thru the Sox) had told him it's a 100% shut-the-door situation. So I at least read between the lines here that slim has not left town.
  2. Crazy to say, but there are so many positives to this one. Danks comes back, Konerko still shaping up nicely, Twins lose. And really all this on top of the fact that it's one of our least offensive lineups that we put out there today.
  3. That and the umpiring today might actually End hawk
  4. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Then what does that make the Sox? All those teams are better. The Sox are better than anyone else at smashing homeruns. Therefore, if they're hot in the playoffs, they can beat anyone. The one thing they do really well is probably better than any one thing those other teams do. As far as being well-rounded, the Sox are not. But there's a very believable way for them to win any playoff series. Smashing it EDIT: To be clear -- They're the least likely of the 4 AL teams to get to the World Series, but it's not so much a disparity that you bother getting upset about it.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) Fields is just terrible at baseball now, I don't think his heart is actually in it. I always dismissed it when Fields was criticized for saying he would almost quit baseball. Now I'm thinking maybe I agree that he doesnt have the mental toughness.
  6. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) quote him "Nevermind."
  7. After all that we have gone thru, how is that Carrasco is our most dependable RHP reliever besides Jenks?
  8. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) Tubby Hall gets a creampie(sick) Great my 8 yr old nephew was just reading this and has now gone onto the other room to do some internet research.
  9. I dont even know if i'd want to be an MLBer if it's like Toby, where pretty much any thing i do, whether it's positive or even just where i have to run around multiple bases... i get laughed at by announcers and teammates alike.
  10. QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 10:49 AM) How can you be disinterested in a first place team if you are a fan of the team? If the Sox were 3 back today, I'd still be interested. In fact, I might even be obsessively interested. Sometimes you make yourself disinterested so as to brace for the let down when a team just isnt good enough to win it all. That said, a Cardinals fan who did that in 06 wouldve significantly hurt how much enjoyment they'd get from the final result. So you dont want to do that unless you're sure yr bad. This is what I do w/ the Chicago Bears most years.
  11. Before the year I remember thinking that our bullpen looked solid and that it could be downright dominating if the old Mike Mac came back. Now if he comes back and is his old self, I would probably just go back to saying it looks solid. Real solid, though.
  12. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) I think you read that incorrectly. The way I read that was that all four doctors thought that he could not return in two months or less, meaning he would not be ready for the Series. yea just looking at things through rose colored glasses.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 06:38 PM) My dad talked to 4 different orthopedic surgeons last night (ironically, he's at a convention this wknd), and not one of them thinks a baseball hitter could return within 2 months of this type of surgery. Too much in the way of stress on the wrists of a baseball swing. phew, so he'll be back for the world series with a quick heal.
  14. The rare Clutch Jim I take back my Jenks/Thome trade
  15. Just a thought but did Ozzie take away Vlady's intensity some by playing w/ him there during the AB?
  16. Wow, with Wass in there i was sure i'd catch Flight 93 showing at 11pm. Now i'm not so sure, 1 hr left.
  17. Wass!!! so at least we know the game is 15 inn.
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) That's what I turned and said to my son...why the hell not. 3 innings of pathetic at bats. I've really seen enough of Owens and Fields on this roster to last a lifetime for me.... Fields' 23 HR in 373 at bats means we have to get him a chance next yr. Perhaps with a returning Uribe to compete. I'm not a Fields guy by any stretch but he's too young to give up on just yet. Unless it's for a total package.
  19. Man Figgins' stats are identical from rhb and lhb
  20. AJ has obviously learned from Quentin's post atbat anger situation by hitting himself in the head w/ the bat. Hard. Nothing of importance in that body part, of course.
  21. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 08:34 PM) I have killed Julia Child and the Duncan Doughnuts dude... True story. I was mocking Julia Child one day and that night I found out she was dead, and the Duncan Doughnuts dude I was talking about "time to make the dounuts and we turned on the radio and he was dead. I had a dream once where Verne Troyer was chasing me around w/ power tools. fortunately no truth has ever come of it
