While momentum doesnt mean a ton, the Twins have to be way more depressed than us right now.

OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo Curtis and Maggs help out their Chicago pals from back in the day

Why on earth Griff in CF?
And perhaps more importantly, why isnt Ozzie being taken to task for this by the media? Swish isnt great at it but is easily faster.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) I love how its "seriously" injured on the page, like he had a heart attack or a massive fracture of his back. He a beast and tweaked his wrist a little. If he's out for a few weeks healing, you move the order around, move Paulie up, put Swish or Griff in LF and BA patrols center. Lets finish strong. I want you there at my funeral.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) His playing time has been extremely erratic and every time he has started I think he has been a really good player. Players with spot time like he has been dont usually hit for high averages. But I can think of more than a few times that BA has been more than adequate filling in for Swisher or Griffey, he has had some key hits and big homeruns this year. it's a good point about the erratic playing time, but i just dont think that swing has tightened up enough. i'd agree if i didnt think he was a really fundamentally flawed hitter. needs to overhaul that thing still.

If we win this year it's with nonstop HRs in the playoffs and adequate pitching. Pitching can still be adequate w/o Danks, especially if Javy keeps up what he's doing. But looking at our Game Log on espn, all the recent W's for the white sox happen to have twos and what not in the Hit column for Quentin.

This is kind of what I'm thinking. It cant be worst case scenario fracture if he was still doing that stuff. Unless this slamming-the-bat thing really had an impact.

BA's BA is .236...but check this out: OBP is .273 in a race for the division, that could mean:

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 11:08 AM) This means more of Brian Anderson- this guy has shown to hit the ball this year and his defense is still stellar, if anything our defense will be there the rest of the way. Griff in left, b/c you need to go for the kill against Minn. If we had the pitching, i might agree w/ you. But we need to let Uribe be the hole in our lineup. We dont want two.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) side note: think it's time TCQ changed his stance? Crowding is such a big part of what he does. I know this sounds weird, but I dont know if he's good enough to take that away and still be dangerous.

What else can i listen to besides f-ing murph right now?

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
If we make the playoffs and then he comes back for that... there is a serious boatload of good vibes that we would have as a team going into the playoffs. That said, Pt. 1 of that is a bigtime challenge.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) Exactly. If it were good news, the Sox would have damn sure had it out immediately. Bad news takes a little longer to spin. True, but there are also gradations of bad news which could mean he's out a week and they want to phrase it properly. Lou looked like an idiot last week when talking about Harden , being coy - and they dont want to mirror that.

Yea, I think we have to take no chances here. We have a chance to win the WS, but it would still be an underdog situation. we also have a chance to contend more consistently for a decade with a player this good (if we retool around him in the coming yrs). I want to push nothing w/ him. The thing that really hurts is that Cowley was the one who was positive about all this, and he was just on the Score talking about how he isnt hearing anything....

Didnt someone mention 4 weeks as a possibility? We stick Griffey in left, Paulie gets hot and we hold on for a Carlos return just when the playoffs are starting.

Your first place Chicago White Sox!
Twins' next 12 games really irritate me. However, if they're going to play like this, I'm going to be less upset if we're playing 500ish ball the next few wks. If we get back to the nonstop HR mashing, i'll be even less upset.

Sox and Twins currently fighting The Battle of Who Could Care Less http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7-jiEbWUUc In all seriousness though, goes to show that teams with nothing to play for (Tor, Cle) can be the most dangerous and will cause pennant chasers to out-think themselves.

It's great how all the anti-Crede people now get to wear the guise of having always been so pro-Juan When in reality they'll just turn on him later when he's cold b/c of their own personality types
