It's Broadway and Getz
And as others said in the other thread 670 says it would be Broadway to pen, Carrasco to start I dont know if I like it so much - Carrasco has been real good at what he's doing. They really must have little faith in the other 5th starter candidates I guess.

Childers
I dont know anything about him, except that he's good right now and apparently old Not a candidate for the 5th spot, i take it? EDIT: Ah, not stretched out it seems. Well how bout the pen? If Carrasco truly is the new 5.

Jose Contreras Done For Year
People here arent upset enough about this I totally would have preferred Contreras over Vazquez in one playoff game. More of a big game pitcher. And frankly, just a better yr so far than Vaz. Which is not saying much, I know.

Again, a few people are making my argument into something different. Not defending Cox's choice, but more just saying... if the ball takes that carom, 99 out of 100 3rd base coaches will have an arm windmilling. that's pretty much what their job is when a carom like that happens. like it or not. thats why i'm saying, don't say his move is right, but also temper outrage b/c it will happen again. with any 3rd base coach.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) What are you talking about? Thome is slower than s*** now. That run means nothing in the sense of Konerko's run meaning more. My argument isnt that Cox did the right thing--- it's that this board is quick to pounce either way. If he's held up and then we dont score in the inning, Cox is attacked for conservatism.

If Cox had held him up, this board would have exploded with anger. Absolutely, after a weird bounce like that, it would have.

Hey. Javy's good for a 5th starter. Which he is.

50 FAVORITE WHITE SOX PLAYERS
People root for Brian because he's like the goofy every-man type. Obviously, Alexei is the better player, but if we're talking strictly favoritism, then there's really no objective way of saying someone should be 'favorite.' All that said, Alexei is becoming one of my all-time favorite Sox. All within a matter of months.

QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Carl Everett would not be pleased. take a bite out of his ERA please

It's great that we one in exactly the way we did 5-1 is always a great looking final score in and of itself...but we really needed some starting and relief pitching here.

8/6 Sox v Tigers: 7:11, CSN
really needed a game like this

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Honestly, who lets a young pitcher like JV go 130 pitches? This is probably one of those games where Leyland tells himself, well it's the 2008 season right here. There can be no other rationale.

Wacky thing about this game: I got part of my night's sleep in during the EARLY part of the game... and still watched 9 innings (the last 9)

We really need lower pitch counts from him in the 7th inning or so. Still, great performance.
