  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) That Jenks kid was ok in 2005. Shoulda said starter. I was thinking Neal Cotts in this same position way back. eee
  2. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) man,ya gotta give it up to Richard tonite, with all the abuse we dish out to him,he's been the stud we ve needed tonite...CQ going to rejoin the team, yes! No abuse coming from me - his whole year considered he's fared better than most any brand new kid thrust into a pennant race that i can remember. Horacio Ramirez, you are no longer necessary man.
  3. Some answers: http://www.sportsline.com/mcc/blogs/entry/8590096/10580394 Bernstein today brought up the important point, however, about muscle degeneration. How much does that happen in a few weeks span? i'd like to think Quentin has like stacks and stacks of muscle to borrow from.
  4. Despite the outs, that procedure is so much more boner inducing than HRs right about now. 1-0 sox 8 yr old baseball fan version of me would be saddened by that view
  5. On the Score w/ Hawk, they were just talking an hour ago like it would still be Broadway. Unless Hampton was mistaken and Hawk decided not to embarass him.
  6. I'm surprised more people werent impressed with Richard in his starts. Broadway's propensity for the longball we dont need right now. Also NYY has great LH hitting up and down that lineup.
  7. Man, Joe Nathan. Grass isnt always greener... we at least have Bobby/Thorndog. There..well i dont know whats going on there.
  8. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 09:16 PM) They don't have anybody fast to steal a base? extra innings and also they're playing for nothing.
  9. I am pro-Jensen Lewis I really wish Ryan Garko was not such a huge worthless bum. Lyle Mouton is the last guy I can think of who was like most lack of power per square inch
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Jerry Owens is a terrible baseball player who should be nowhere near a pennant race. And of course people are fine when someone who contributes has a bad game because that happens for all players. The problem with Owens is that he rarely has good games. Last September Owens was the one stringing good at bats together. This September it's Konerko and Uribe who were absolutely slammed ferociously for several months of this year. Just sayin' it's a cycle and it looks silly having to keep reverting on past stances. At least when they're that ferocious.
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) Owens serve a valuable purpose here on Soxtalk. We need a scapegoat. Now that Uribe's been pretty good lately we have Owens to fill that void. That's kind of my thing. Fault Ozzie for playing Owens, totally with you all. Fault Owens for existing, well, lets step back and see - ok he took the o fer today. It happens. Had it happened to Wise we'd be fine w/ it for the recent heroics. Now one person argued that Ozzie should have started Owens over Swisher which is a new plateau for hilarity. Like Swisher has not been torn a new one all year as well.
  12. Funny to me how every comment that has been said about Owens here has probably been said about Uribe once as well.
  13. WCIUless ness was my one problem with living in Champaign. but a big one. when Bartman happened i was walking down sixth street and 15 homes around me went AUUUU!!! at once. i almost ducked for cover.
  14. It's crazy that the outfielder/1b glut is not being solved by a Quentin injury, but actually being made more difficult with Wise/BA/Owens recent success. Until this game for Jerry, i'm thinking this marks the end for him.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) Do people think that the Owens steal didnt come from the bench? You can b**** about the bunt, but I really doubt Owens has the green light to steal in a 2 run game in the 7th inning. Id venture to guess Ozzie called the steal... I'm sure most people here are mad about the bunt alone. Choosing to steal there ends his ML career, favoritism or not.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) OC blasted that ball. Thanks again Owens. might not get that pitch to hit w/o bases empty two out though
