  1. NY fans demanded and demanded Eli Manning over Warner. i laughed as they got what they want: someone who sucked.
  2. it's usually the case though that fans fall in love with that backup IF (see Graffanino) simply because they can do no wrong. how many games did Graffanino ever cost us? nearly zero, so we're used to wondering "why doesnt he play more" of course Jose Valentin cost us tons, and we were all sick of him: but he was still far and away the better player of the two. NFL is even more hilarious: the young untested QB pretty much becomes "God With Clipboard"
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) No, I'm not debating whether or not the game was well announced. Until the bottom of the 9th inning, I had been listening to ESPN 1000 returning from work. I was merely asking Hideaway to explain why DJ and Don had "reached a new low." For anyone not watching the broadcast, as was my situation, they would have had no idea. ah, apologies.
  4. QUOTE(The Bones @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) I thought there were a few hilarious moments. Specifically, DJ's "might as well Jump, Jump" and when he said "that just sucks" referring to the Sox being 14-38 in their last 52 games in Anaheim. i sort of find DJ's wackiness endearing alongside Hawk. thats not to say i might not prefer a solid announcer..... but yea comments like that end up being more brutally honest than most other announcers out there so i appreciate that.... assuredly northside fans know the way an honest announcer gets 'rewarded' these days
  5. well there has been considerable turnover in the Vatican lately, so it's understandable.
  6. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Would you mind explaining what you're b****ing about. b****ing? please dont tell me you thought this was even a passably well announced ball game. they are both nice guys. as announcers.... eeh.
  7. time for the first post-win complaint: i want just once to blow someone out nice and early. i thought it would be tonight after PK's HR
  8. my mom who cannot judge anything off the bat --- if she is still up --- she just choked thinking that was an HR
  9. also, who's to say the RHP doesnt get launched by Garret Anderson first pitch
  10. maybe this is an accurate appraisal, but with 1 out, runner on first... we cant necessarily say this is the managerial move that would --- cost us the game (if we lose)
  11. alrighty, so now lets forget what i just said -- go "new" damaso
  12. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Agreed - to a point. Something about his work last night (2 innings) makes me worry we would see the "wild" Marte. yea i'd rather let last night sink in for a bit.... i'm in no rush to see the Damaso from a week ago.
  13. DJ should redirect his HR call to being a "Cali Babe Call" "UH OH!"
  14. and yes it was almost right to him, but it was a missile coming off the ground right in front of him, and to the right.
  15. if Konerko had grabbed that one, it wouldve been an absolutely amazing stab at it. it was an absolute bullet. so.... no not the most playable ball... at all.
  16. then again my first option is for it not to even be a save chance
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 25, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) Shows what I know. Terrific start by Garcia tonight. Will Ozzie let Marte start the 9th against Anderson and Finley? good question. two innings last night tells me no. plus we need Hermey to get some save chances to make him an all-star lock (not that this is Oz's consideration at all of course)
