  1. if we're honest with ourselves, we cant totally refute some of the things Neyer is saying Garland is the one case on the staff where...career altering progress seems to have been made this offseason. the other guys are going to be what they are....... Buehrle is going to dominate some teams, get dominated by other teams Garcia isnt what he once was, but is good enough to keep the team in games... same with Duque. i suppose Contreras could still improve, but if we're watching the games, we know he hasnt been as lights-out as his ERA would have us believe
  2. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) I'd like him to stay in the lineup and maybe if Rowand continues to slump, he will be in the lineup every day. Dye isn't doing too hot either as of now. ah forgot about Rowand as a possibility. although... has anyone seen if Pods can throw? i'm thinking thats the reason he isnt in CF here.... cannon-less? it would have to be that way, because there's no way i want Everett anywhere but LF.
  3. is staying in this lineup. i know this was brought up before, but it doesnt seem like he's ready to take that nosedive anytime soon. he's in shape, and his early career power looks to be back. i'm thinking he either is our DH against righties..... or he replaces Dye. perhaps Podsednik could go to RF. i'm thinking Dye really needs to pick it up, or else it'll just be silly to have Carl on the bench. anyone converting to this side yet?
  4. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Cotts will be down below an era of 5 soon enough and he's our worst reliever s***, I'm happy. this comment was on track. listen, the back of your bullpen is never going to be great. even great teams have some mediocre relievers. i've seen far worse than Neal Cotts, and as our second best lefty, i think we could do a lot worse. there are vet lefties who are still in this league only because they can throw hard. at least you can say that Cotts is a work-in-progress.... but even as is, you can do worse. people here are pretending like he's never gotten us out of an inning.
  5. Score670's Dan Bernstein claims Maggs is significantly less husky this year. hmm..... i'll have to get a good look whenever he returns. then again if he keeps hitting .000 he'll never be on SC
  6. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) As happy as I am with the fact we are winning, I am a little concerned about Paulie and Jermaine Dye. those are the guys you dont mind having in early slumps..... eventually they'll come around. i was worried about Iguchi and Pods... so far so good. well... i was also worried about Crede, but i'm not holding my breath on that one....
  7. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) I hope this is nothing to worry about!! well Lee is LHP, so it could be more on account of that
  8. sure it's too early to be certain about this.... but when Thomas eventually comes back..... who would you least mind seeing benched? in my view it wouldnt necessarily have to be Everett, who is one of our liveliest bats right now. he could play left.... either Pods or Rowand could be benched or platooned in CF. Dye is another possibility, and of course Big Frank himself. you could rotate people around.... although having Pods and Everett platooning (both mainly lefties) doesnt make that much sense. we need a right handed bat on the bench, if you ask me..... so maybe that is Everett, but I might actually not mind as much if it's Dye or Thomas. Then again, Thomas is at his worst is often good for a walk, so it's hard to imagine him not being our fulltime DH.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) Have you forgotten your true love? as Red Kerr might say, he can really stroke it. this i somehow do not doubt.
