  1. Glad to hear it. The following must've been totally wrong on rotowire this morning 3/4/2013: Gillaspie leads the White Sox with two home runs and seven RBI this spring, but he is unlikely to break camp with the major league roster.
  2. Requesting your opinion: are chances higher than 25% Conor Gillaspie doesnt make the Sox?
  3. if i remember right he says "Corner"
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 3, 2013 -> 02:47 AM) Fun thing is that the topic of discussion is about neither. I'll bring us back to topic. Is anyone else worried about how Hawk tends to pronounce the name "Conor"
  5. That debate changed generations of sports fans
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Ehh....we hope. Those strikeouts could be a quick mechanism for making him come out lower than .700 OPS. He's got to actually be hitting HR to overcome that, since he'll almost certainly have a low average. If teams can figure out how to keep him from going deep... I feel like all our conversations go this route: Me"here's some stuff that might happen" Balta"Here is why it might not happen, bam here are some reasons out of thin air" Morel debate, fairly or not, is what hops into my mind first..just because you went in so hard on that one
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 28, 2013 -> 11:21 AM) I welcome him to prove me wrong, but Flowers is a terrible baseball player and there was even speculation he would be cut from the team midseason last year. That's right, he couldn't cut it as a backup at the time, but here we are few months later with him as the starter. He was good in the minors and has had 270 major league at-bats. Does every point really have to be made with tons of exaggeration and hyperbole? If he's a 700 OPS catcher with good defense, making peanuts, you already have a victory there in terms of payroll management. And that's basically his starting point.
  8. Tyler Flowers! Give me your career 700 OPS with some defense, your minor league penchant for making pitchers throw a bunch of pitches.... and I'll prefer you to a 36 year old making a ton of dough. That is all.
  9. QUOTE (BlackJack @ Feb 22, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) What happens to Morel? he is melted and converted into recycled aluminum
  10. Evidence of a new emphasis on contact rate with stable OBP It's not at all a stretch to say Gordon Beckham should take notice. After all, Keppinger was not etched in stone at 3B from the organization's comments. And they need a lefty bat somewhere, no question. I'd love to know what they really really think about Keppinger at third versus second..defensively
  11. maybe the Sox forgot they have a team
  12. Gonna go back into the memory banks for this one: '11-'12 offseason
  13. QUOTE (YASNY @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) The failure to incorporate the skyline is a HUGE mistake. From-- a link that is apparently now dead: .......The Whitesox attempted unsuccessfully to purchased the tall brown building behind the scoreboard. It was owned by the state, and was a senior services building. To have the ball park face the skyline, they would've needed to demolish that building. I've read the original plans were supposed to have the skyline behind the scoreboard. .........
  14. 2010-2011 Tyler Saladino had its phasers set on extreme tantalize
  15. We need a lefthanded bat, and options aren't exactly brimming over at this point The only thing that worries me if any permutation of this roster finalizing will involve some Viciedo time at 3b If we ...have to, I actually would be fine with leaving pitching/defense where it is......going forward with what we have....and then seeing midway through the year if once again we can make bigger improvements once other teams have their outlook change (which netted us Youk, Liriano)
  16. Contreras' being fixed had the biggest impact, but it might be argued that Loaiza and Thornton were actually the more impressive reclamation projects since El Titan was legendary as far as past success
  17. America's Favorite New Game Show...Willlllll Coop Fix 'Em! Daniel Cabrera, thanks for playing our game John Van Benschoten, we have some lovely parting gifts for you
  18. Adding A-Rod and Keppinger for 3b/2b is an undeniable upgrade over the total worth we got from 3b/2b last year. So while this is all just in theory and assuming ok to decent health -- yes, of course.
  19. To be clean as apple pie strikes me as odd
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) There are a few people who would want to be there, but Wrigleyville isnt really any sort of tourist destination. Its basically a s***ty version of State Street or any other college campus main drinking area. Far more prefer to be groped by the d-bags who hang out at, say, Carol's in uptown than the ones who hang out in Wrigleyville
  21. QUOTE (floridafan @ Jan 18, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) I am not sure what you are trying to say. But if it is a problem with folks that I update my sons progress and/or setbacks I will stop. I don't want to make any waves for anyone, especially my son. We have an "Adopt-a-Prospect" section of the message board, where any poster who wants to 'adopts' a prospect and just tracks their progress. and I just thought it'd be funny if the actual father of a prospect ACTUALLY adopted the prospect in that part of the forum. That's all. No malice intended(and it is really cool we have you here, keep participating!)
  22. There'd be something very "meta" about floridafan were he to go and participate in the "Adopt-a-Prospect" forum. Or shall we say, it'd be redundant were he to do so
