  1. Many will peg this as a downgrade to our defense........but if we just look at 2B, what can we say about Kepp-for-Bacon? If I remember correctly, this offseason ..people were talking about Kepp being better at 2b than 3b(or saying 3b had a murky sample size) I find CG intriguing as all hell. Maybe just a guy who..while being a little old...seems to have just never gotten enough of an opportunity to make his promise happen.
  2. It's crazy how we discuss all the minutiae of every single aspect of the Sox roster.......but honestly if everyone performs to career norms and Paulie is totally done (which is very possible at 37 coming off bad months last year)......then this whole thing is probably moot and you can ship 2013, basically
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) Goats head left at one of the gates The Cubs are more fun than the Sox. That's the deal, we get the wins (big disparity over last whatever amount of years) they have the fun
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) Good time for Keppinger to get going offensively. This is not a guy I worry about offensively. But then again, I do not at all have the 2012 offense expectations for him.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 08:54 PM) Booya. I called the walk-off to my wife. First called shot of the year. With a 2-0 count, I told her, watch, he's going to get an elevated fastball and park it...sure enough Tank crushed it!!! You have unnatural abilities; you may be a cleric.
  6. My ticket was for upper tank, first base side and I got the heck out of there. Way colder than 3rd base side.
  7. Three games is too early. But since we're so similar to last year, it's not too early to make judgments based on the larger data we have. And basically if you lose AJ gain Kepp + Flowers...you're a lot like the 2012 team minus Youkilis, really. Once we added Youk, we had the needed not-outs we had been craving. I feel a lot like we're back at April 2012, actually. Now knowing more about how much workload Sale can take, etc. Would love to see us make a move to strengthen either at 2b or (as i'm sure we'd all like) do something at LF if it's major enough. I think a lot of teams would like this pitching staff and this power, but if we really are win-now, there has to be some kind of addition in the realm of ...not making outs. Keppinger's 2012 notwithstanding, he's historically merely OK as far as OBP. Can't really show surprise that a guy like that would happen to start out with a tough stretch.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) You don't sign Keppinger for 3 years to platoon. Do we have a grasp yet on how big a drop off at 3b we'd be seeing defensively when you take out Kepp and put in Conor?
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) I really, really, really hate winning the first two games of a 3-gamer and dropping that last one. I really, really do. I'd rather win one, lose one, win one, or lose one, win two. We used to do this with the Cubs all the f***ing time and I hated it. After winning two games and losing one, I always feel like I won two games and lost one. DET will switch places with you if you hate it.
  10. There's a lot to like today more so than yesterday. Difficult to separate the things that irritate from the things that may matter. T-Flo Beckham are the things to watch intently, not our fielding. I'm not going to go insane over what thus far is a real small sample size in the field
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) So far in this 9th, every ball swung at has been out of the zone..... Closers benefit from pressure filled free swinging. The guile/gumption closers have is sooooo overblown when you consider some natural advantages they get coming their way instead. Knowing your role day in day out, is another.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:54 PM) THIS WEDDING IS HORSEs*** Step Bros?
  13. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Watching the game and thought it was something people would be interested in. Really now shouldnt we be moving a lot of this to the catch-all?
  14. While I agree late-in-season games shouldnt be weighted in importance, isn't the scoreboard-follow just a little early here?
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) It'd be nice to have a lefty bat to spell him once in a while. Like a Teahen type who is actually good. Who will be Keppinger's sub this year? I like his defense. Gillaspie has a proven minor league track record at the plate.
  16. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 02:11 PM) God does Dunn SUCK. That ball was not even close........................ Dunn's whole schtick can't be shocking after two years seeing what he is daily. Also there was no ban on televising Nats games the years prior, either.
  17. This thread is great at reminding me that some guys go 2.5 games without hits sometimes. Film@10.
  18. We're the white sox. The league will go back to ignoring us any day now, I'm sure.
  19. So Gillaspie playing anything but 3b and 1b is just totally out, I take it?
  20. Has Robin said whether he'd be agreeable to occasionally moving Keppinger to 2b and getting Conor at 3b so they can both be in certain games? Those are the guys we'd want in against tough righties? Not Beckham or Sanchez.
  21. Was surprised to read that, in 2012, only three teams were more likely than the White Sox to have their baserunners score (including both RBI and non-RBI results)
  22. The Matt Lindstrom sox era was one of the darker eras in history Whole different era than the Octavio Dotel era, Stone Pony
