  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:38 PM) I think ARod is available. Lets also get T-Mac on the Bulls
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:10 PM) That makes too much sense. Why can't the Sox in the past ever pull off deals like that? They have no risk in this scenario. Get Peavy for almost free this year, dump him in the offseason to a big-money team. Pretty brilliant. Well, Peavy could get hurt again, or underwhelm.
  3. I would like to make sure we get David Hochberg back in a trade
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) http://mlb.mlblogs.com/2013/07/30/d-backs-...with-white-sox/ "Third Matt Davidson" sounds like a tertiary prospect to me
  5. Interestingly we might be telling the Pirates we'll only give them money IF we get someone to take all of Peavy's money. Maybe ownership has given Hahn a set figure he can give out, and it's up to him to allot.
  6. If teams arent willing to take on all the cash we have to send out.............but ARE willing to give out top prospects... then of course Kubel makes sense. You have a player for next year AND you get the spects you want. Have to think realistically here. Additionally, lets not kid ourselves. Kubel at his last two years of stats combined absolutely could find 500 PAs here.
  7. TAB Deportes ‏@tabpr 10m Bien cerca de finalizar el cambio entre White Sox y Pirates, donde enviarían al boricua Alex Rios a Pittsburgh
  8. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) I'm basing it on the names associated with St. Louis. Wong, Martinez, etc. I would be more than happy with them coming back for Alexi and Jake. I'd also be more than happy to keep both if the return is lame. I don't get why people errantly assume others opinions. I've been saying I want to trade with St.Louis based on their farm ranking and names rumored. Take it easy bro, it'll be okay. You have explained yourself well. I've extracted what I want out of you.
  9. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) Hope you're right I dont get why people are just errantly hoping for a trade You have to hear what the trade is and then decide if you like it or not.
  10. QUOTE (WKamm @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) ... that Wednesday's going to come and go without a trade. Hahn is asleep at the wheel. Why are some people pretending it's some new untested approach to wait for the deadline to get the best offers coming in
  11. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) He said Robin patted Lindstrom on his back, which technically is true. THEY WERE ON THE MOUND. Any time someone gets patted on the back, they are like totally immediately traded. After I feed my son his bottle I trade him to Texas every time until he burps
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) You can't pull a greased tee out of my behind with a pair of pliers Yeah but isnt it more so because of that special condition you have?
  13. Hahn is such a shifty, sly maneuverer that he made it so Brazilians now dont speak Brazilian
  14. Based on nothing, I just feel like we will cave a little on demands soon here. To get great prospects and not pay up.....it just seems like we'd have to cave on some of that, especially if say a Samardzija or whatever is also out there.
  15. Hahn/Beane cage match Bash at the Beach 2013. Two statistically savvy men enter; one statistically savvy man leaves.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 04:34 PM) I disagree. The goal is to make the sox a better team. Peavy is an above average starting pitcher. That is worth alot. If the players you are being offered don't make the team that much better, don't do it. The Sox could have a rotation with Sale/Peavy/Hector/Danks and have a winning team combining that with massively good FA/scrap heap finds. It's not outside the realm of reality. Now, is that a great idea for pursuing a high percent chance at winning a WS? No. But the Sox strike me as a team aiming year in and year out and having a good-to-very-good team, and being good enough to put asses in seats. Which is not great to hear as a fan, but I think it's what has been going on here for some 10-20 years.
  17. Is Olney known as someone who will run to make public whatever someone wants him to make public?
  18. Early today: Peavy says he's leaving Sox Mid-day: Peavy says he could have another Sox start 4pm: Sox leak that they could keep him thru the deadline So it's basically the Sox not getting the ideal offer and deciding they want to win the rumor mill for the day and go to sleep tonight making the suitors nervous.
  19. The reason to trade Peavy is to get prospects-- not to soothe the fans and give them some emotional reward If you're not getting good prospects, then you dont deal him.
  20. Even though I still think Peavy gets dealt -- Jerry loves having short term contracts for pitchers, right? No trade is surely an option they'll be comfortable with if all the offers are lowball
  21. I love this deal in that all the people yearning for something to happen essentially dont get what they wanted, even right now
