  1. Salty would be a win-now move, and there's no point to that right now. Abreu isnt young-young but there's still a win-later component to it that goes along with the plan of Avi, Semien etc
  2. Crazy idea here: this affects nothing It only seems like it matters b/c other moves havent happened yet. If you had a slew of moves come first, this would be loved of course. Low risk assuming this is cheap. If he fills a few seats with his name I am not just automatically offended by that.
  3. Jose Lobaton rumored to W.Sox? Marc Topkin ‏@TBTimes_Rays 5m Reports and rumors of #Rays moves keep swirling. Just heard Lobaton could be going to #whitesox, tho not confirmed.
  4. Refresh my memory..was @k0na actually someone in the know? Or basically some guy who got one story first out of nowhere
  5. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) Hudson is toast and I don't think the organization (Cooper) liked him. I heard the org did not like Hudson tons. Of course in a buy low/no-risk situation anyone is fine. But that said, maybe we're drawn to someone else's reclamation project rather than the one we've already had up close
  6. I dont want to live in a world where Fausto Carmona isnt Fausto Carmona, but i do
  7. There's something bout that Conor Gillaspie. Not predicting a breakout (due to age) but he doesnt have to make too big a leap to be worthwhile.
  8. The .730 OPS Heart wants what the .730 OPS Heart wants.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) I did that for the Jenks game that year too. I was with my girlfriend. It was not a good time. what was the "jenks" game? cant remember
  10. Why do people put De Aza on the sucked/ship him out list? He's a 2 to 3 WAR guy who's cheap. What is wrong with this? If you dont like him leading off then the problem is just him leading off. For what he costs, the problems lie elsewhere on this team.
  11. A true sign of slow news lately. But I want to point out that not only is he a decent twitter follow in general, but he apparently is a big Pacers fan and really enjoys trash talking re: Bulls I guess being from Indianapolis..it seems like he has Chicago knowledge (well, at least compared to what i'd gather from most our spects). Mentions portillos recently etc
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 12:12 PM) That ball is still going My friend took a train to Minnesota to watch that game. Then took the train back.
  13. Refresh my memory as to whether or not we have a totally clear picture of things... ...Thome was still good, wanted to be here, would've been here cheap... ..but Guillen preferred Kotsay and a rotating DH, so the Sox front office went along with it? Is it basically understood that this was Guillen's call? Do we infer that Kenny allowed Ozzie this amount of rope? Perhaps in order to mount a future case against the quality of Ozzie's judgment, or is that just something juicy enough for message boards and little else? Was the Sox front office fully on board with letting Thome join Minnesota? Of course he had been traded the year prior, but it was more of a chasing-the-ring thing, as opposed to bad vibes. To be fair to Ozzie, Kotsay had been good with the White Sox..but a legit look at his career arc should've made it clear he'd return to suckage...whereas Ozzie often is guided by passion and principle instead of substance.
  14. 68 just to rub it in Paulie's face some more. his very signing is a disrespect to a Chicago legend my frend
  15. Quintana has really put together two nice years. Still, I have to keep that 'sell high' mindset with him if the offer is right........a mindset i actually dont have for Hector. Comes down to talent perhaps blinding me, but as they're both guys I just categorize as 'solid'......that's where i stand. At least when looking at it separate from contract details.
  16. Looking at the last 1500 at bats for each -- platoon Dunn and Konerko. If PK really wants to take small $ and be here, that is. If all three players start hitting everything, miraculously............then Dunn in LF for ...well portions of games.
  17. The "tank" is Ozzie's work. But it was a re-do on what his original name for DV was...
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) All I see is Rosenthal saying it's expected to be the White Sox for 6/68 Generally that's language used when you're informed enough...lest you look dumb like the Kurkjian Soriano-to-Sox report years back
  19. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) NBCsports: Sounds like the White Sox will get Jose Abreu "I have news: Something sounds like Something."
  20. Have any of the insiders-of-sorts said anything here about offseason spending? Targets?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) As for my 31 AB comment, it is true. Most professional players require 0 major league ABs to determine they aren't going to be very good. You're moving the goalposts here. If this is what you meant, you aren't even talking about what it takes to evaluate players in the first place.
  22. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Oct 7, 2013 -> 10:06 AM) If everyone is so adamant on punting '14 why would it matter if we stick Granderson in CF and then move him to DH/LF after next year? More so than punt on '14, we could see a lot of money spent...but just spend it on younger ready-now guys. McCann is one example, though timeline wise Abreu makes more sense.
  23. Doesnt fit the timeline. Sounds like a favor to an agent.
  24. Anyone have craft(or otherwise) beer/food matches for me? For instance I've heard standard things like IPA & pizza, or barbecue with porter/stout. In particular I have a Duvel right now and am not loving the food suggestions I see online for this..... In truth I kind of do this as a food-then-beer experience...not simultaneous generally unless we're talking macro lagers.
  25. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) I just bought tickets. I've never been to the last game of the season. I wonder how many people will show up. I will be there (admittedly didnt think ahead to Bears way back when)....I have heard the last game of the year can be quite the fan-frustration-yellfest if it's a year like this one.
