Machado do-over
Most of us don't obsessively create and update threads about 6 WAR players and say they're a GOAT.

Machado do-over
So now it's 2 years? Don't blame me. You're the one that wants to take credit for Tatis. The Puig stuff was batshit, and we told you at the time.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
It's too bad people don't realize following a sports team is a completely voluntary form of entertainment. The team itself has absolutely no obligation to you as a fan.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
That hiatus didn't last long.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
That's it? What a let down of an end to a nonsensical exchange. Sober up, my friend.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
If you think the Sox and Twins are similar, aside from being small to mid market AL teams, make a case for it. They operate completely differently and have for most of my life.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
You're not making any sense whatsoever.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
What are you talking about? This is the weirdest exchange. Let's start from the beginning. Caufield went on some Caufield rant about how the Twins are like the Sox except for, mostly drivel I didn't bother reading... Because Caufield. I said they don't have anything in common... Because, well, they don't. Totally different philosophies. Then you start making weird projections about things I never said. Are you drunk? It's early man.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
When did I ever they didn't. In this thread I've said: 1. The Sox and Twins have nothing in common. 2. The Twins are a better franchise. What in the hell are you even talking about?

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
The Twins last won the world series 29 years ago. I'm not sure how that's relevant, but whatever. You're not even making sense this morning, grumpy cat.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
The Twins are too risk averse. They operate as a high floor/low ceiling franchise. That's why they're never an actual threat in the playoffs. They're just outclassed.
-
Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Because they're a better franchise? I'm not even sure what the last sentence means. Since I don't spend my free time crying on the internet about things I can't change, I can't be objective?

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Maybe he's talking about the Borchard signing bonus, which at the time was a record. It was $5.3M. Cheap ass Jerry.

Rumor: Reinsdorf aims to build second place teams
Aside from being in the AL, I can't think of one thing the Sox and Twins have in common.

Machado do-over
So you right about Tatis when he was a huge prospect? Well, that's dandy. If you're gonna say you were right about him, you better have been throwing shade in the trade thread. I'm sure you'll be able to find some posts. Iirc, there was only 1 poster on the entire board that really liked Tatis at the time. A lot of people didnt want Shields, but it wasn't because they valued Tatis. Didn't you say Puig was as good as Mickey Mantle? You went on for months and updated your own thread daily. I have no idea what Jose Abreu has to with that.

Machado do-over
Can you post the thread where you were "right" about Tatis. From what I remember, there was only 1 poster on the Future Sox board who was right about Tatis. I think it might have been @Heads22. You weren't just wrong about Puig. You were as wrong as anyone has ever been about anything, it went on for months, and it was insanely obnoxious.

Kopech hit 100 today
Yeah, that's not gonna be a no from me. Kopech throws harder, but has much worse balance and a much higher effort delivery. Kopech might have a better peak, but Cease has an incredibly rare low effort/high velocity delivery. Watch some clips of Cease and pay attention to the separation he gets from his upper body to lower body. It's extraordinary. If he can ever master his release point, we're looking at a top 10 pitcher for a very long time.

I'd prefer he didn't do that.

I believe the answer is Catfish Hunter in '75.

White Sox part ways w/ Todd Steverson & Greg Sparks, name Frank Menechino as new Hitting Coach
This is front runner for the hot take of the day. I'm sure Caulfield will beat it though.

Machado do-over
Okay. He's still one of many examples of players completely falling off in their prime. It probably happens in baseball more than any other sport.

He's exactly what we thought he'd be defensively - solid, good hands, not much range and below average athleticism relative to other SS. I'm down with hating on the Sox development staff, but Semien is exactly the player you should not use as evidence.

This just isn't how it went down.

For some reason I find the Semien revisionism frustrating. I think it's just that a group of us loved him as a prospect. That's just not how it went down. He was the main piece in what they thought would be either a lower end #1 or upper end #2. It wasn't just that they gave up on him, didn't develop him, or misidentified his talent.
