  1. This has to be a tough call for a rookie. Do you go out there and risk injury and a possible big payoff to go out there and plunk someone? If I'm Tracey I say the hell with starting a brawl. I want to stay healthy and possibly get a big paycheck someday. You got to look out for you first, team second because in the long run nobody remembers Tracey if he suffers an arm injury in a brawl and no longer pitches effectively. Let the guy that has made a few million relieving come in and plunk him. This looks like just sacrificing a rook which to me is completely bush. Based on my interaction with Tracey at Birmingham last year the guy is a total class act.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) You, sir, have not gotten enough Mike Myers and Rob Sasser yet I got enough Rob Sasser in 04 :headshake When he hits them they go... of course the when is few and far between.
  3. Here is a short article on the Barons from the Birmingham News. They didn't print the entire roster like they did in the paper. http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/in...6940.xml&coll=2 Along with the guys they mentioned in the article, Rob Sasser will be back, Corwin Malone will return to being a starter. Wally Rosa is returning at C. Ehren Wasserman RP, Dwayne Pollock RP, Brian West. Others listed include Micah Shurenstin (SP?) I'm curious where Michael Spidale will end up. I don't recall who they had listed in the outfield.
  4. Saw Fields today in Tucson. He looked very good at the plate. He worked the count in his favor and promptly crushed a double to center field. He laid off the junk off the plate and in the dirt. He looks much bigger now too... maybe his uniform was baggy in Birmingham. I must say he does look more comfortable out there albeit it was only one at bat...
  5. Best of Luck Bull! My favorite Bull moments at the Met were when they played "California" when you warmed up... and when you got Fielder in the helmet in that game vs. Huntsville in 04
  6. Tom, sorry to hear that and my condolences to you and your family...
  7. Here's another story on Chuck from the Birmingham News. He is getting a lot of press time which is cool... http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/in...2710.xml&coll=2
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 06:10 AM) Damn! What happend to Casey's batting average? Wasn't he hitting in the .330's not too long ago? He has struggled in August. I think most of it is from being tired. The Barons have had a pretty Hellish schedule of late with rainouts / doubleheaders. They have looked tired the last few games I have seen at the Met.
  9. I believe most of the rough starts Charlie had were due to pitching in a fairly steady rain. The conditions were terrible for his 8/23 start and the suspended game 7/9 that he eventually finished in Mobile was bad too. If he has decent weather he pitches pretty well... Here's the local Birmingham News story covering yesterday's start: http://www.al.com/sports/birminghamnews/in...5810.xml&coll=2
  10. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Not looking very good tonight.. Charlie can't catch a break with the weather. It was raining most of the time he pitched which can't help a knuckleballer...
  11. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Ya, Reggie Abercrombie, he's a mid-tier OF prospect for Florida Who once was a highly touted Los Angeles prospect.. correct?
  12. Charlie before he goes out and pitches a shutout!
  13. QUOTE(Chuck's cuz @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) Charlie is on the mound tonight against Huntsville at 700 pm! I will come with updates later! I will be there cheering him on! Let's hope it doesn't rain...
  14. Tom, What are your thoughts on all the Barons baserunning blunders this year? Coaching? Bad luck? or just plain terrible base running? I can't believe all of the different ways I've seen Barons picked off at the bases this year.
  15. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 03:00 AM) Next another routine DP ball on a comebacker that pollok threw a strike to Stewart but allowed the ball to tip off the top of the glove because he was trying to turn 2 before he had one Tom, thanks for the recaps as always... I was curious why they gave Pollock the error on that play because I thought the throw was good myself. It looked like Stewert lost his mind again late in a game (although there were a couple of other Barons who joined him...) Hopefully we'll turn it around tonight. I really want to see these guys make the playoffs...
