  1. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Ah damn, the damage is done however, wohoo. nice avatar shoeless
  2. jim joyce calls a pretty consistent zone...
  3. I'd say go with at Man Soo Lee Jersey... or possibly Geoff Blum
  4. "I feel you'd have a much better chance of winning this game if you were anyone other than 2004 Brett Tomko. And to put that in perspective, I used to catch Kyle Lohse" I confused... did aj actually say that to Tomko? I can't really tell from the article... if AJ really said that, thats the funniest thing I've read in a long time...
  5. QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 24, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) Athletics vs. White Sox, May 24, on the Mark yet again That is the title of this WHITE SOX GAME THREAD my apologies... I should add that Chavez has had a pretty crappy career against left handed pitching... Swisher is also much less deadly against southpaws...
  6. Borchard took Maddux deep today... and it looks the cubs are about to be swept by the lowly marlins
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) Picking up David Wells? its not like mike sirotka was ever productive again. Actually, the probably "won" that trade in that at least wells ate up some innings...
  8. by the way, farmer and singleton are really improving...
  9. I realize I may get grilled for this... but I'll say it: The biggest blunder is actually non-baseball related: The New Comiskey. Sure we all loved it that first year... but it's nowhere close to the special place the old comiskey was. Take into account that it was (before the changes) a pretty sterile environment, and that the architects didn't have the forsight to predict the cathedral-like wave of ball parks after it, or use the city's skyline as a backdrop that the whole stadium could see during the game.... compared to the old comiskey, it IS a disappointment Even though its my favorite place to see a game, I'd say it was actually the sox biggest blunder. As far as trading away sammy, I'll never regret that because the sox could not have predicted that he would load up on steriods and produce the most fraudulent career in history. Plus its not like he was a team guy that carried the cubs on his back or anything....
  10. Got to say I agree with the ACLU here. I'm not comfortable with government endorsing one religion and promoting it to its citizens. I read another post here that says that only the majority religion should be observed.... I think thats pretty silly. The whole purpose of the constitution was to protect the rights of all people... not just the majority. I'm not saying that the prayer is offensive, wrong, evil or anything like that. But for a local government to stand up and heartily endorse a specific theology, be it christian, islam, judaism, whatever, is wrong. I think some of you confuse the right to free speech and the free practice. In no way, does not saying a prayer at a graduation, in class, or wherever impair free speech or free practice. It does not stop people from praying on their own. Presumably, local government tax dollars go towards funding a graduation. As long as the government is paying for the electricity that runs the microphone and speakers, I think there is no reason to impose or endorse a particular religion.
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Royce Ring!!! yeah... we passed on swisher to take ring
  12. I always get nervous when jenks pitches 1+ innings
  13. paulie... four curveballs... three swinging strikes.... zero legit strikes
  14. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) *Knock on wood* Do we have any walkoffs this year? I dont think so... thome just tried right there
  15. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) Maybe that's why the A's don't steal. somewhere out there billy bean is pissed... The team's leader in slugging and OPS is left at home while his catcher is thrown out stealing in the ninth inning of a tied game...
  16. At the end of PTI today, TK says repeatedly... marriotti is NOT my guy.... obviously, the fued continues
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ May 22, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Did DJ refer to Huston as Houston Street? well... thats how its pronounced
  18. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) TK hates Mariotti like everyone else, he loves to see that jackass get ripped. the Kornheiser/Marriotti rift is well publicized. Though I have no idea what it stems from, Kornheiser has taken shots at Marriotti a couple of times on PTI, and has commented to Wilbon that he will not speak to him. A few years ago, Marriotti filled in on one episode of PTI for TK (ironically)... At the end of the show, Marriotti offered an olive branch and that the two should patch up their differences. To my knowledge, TK never acknowledged it. Kornheiser obviously knows Marriotti is full of s*** and has great dislike for him professionally. I kinda admire the fact that TK is in the media and he's willing to standup to another member of the media. You always get the feel that TK is exactly what he is on TV.... He's never a phoney... Its one reason I've always really liked him as a sportscaster.
  19. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:57 PM) I also heard his girlfriend beats him and that is why he is so angy. Really? i heard it was his boyfriend
  20. Does anyone know if there is a version of the sox pre-game video on the web? I know I've seen this as its own thread before... I just can't find it without the search function enabled.
  21. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 22, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Home field advantage? yeah... thats on our side... I was just noting that we remain the favorites in the objective eye of the vegas line-setters. So at least thats something to be optimistic about...
  22. hmm... for what its worth, the vegas line is: Sox -120 Oakland +110 Its very interesting that we are still the favorite despite the fact that we all know this is one of the least favorable starting match-ups we've faced this year.
