QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 19, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) can we get a quick synopsis?? Another fine cub fan post: "Eventually, after one of these butt whoopings, they are going to get sick of getting their butts kicked and do something about it....... like turn around and get kicked in the groin." -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 19, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) can we get a quick synopsis?? well here's a post that represents a healthy sample of cub-fan rhetoric: "May I suggest that the Cubs simply don't show up tomorrow? The forfeit will go down at a 9-0 loss, but that's probably better than the blood bath that would happen if they actually played" Obviously a lot of b****ing about hendry, dusty, pierre, and pratically every one on the team. -

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ May 19, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) we Cedeno, Blanco and Perez coming up. Watch out. Cedeno has two career home runs... he was batting third last week in the cubs lineup.... thats pretty bad... -

QUOTE(rudylaw @ May 19, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) I love how that many people on Soxtalk have been saying "it's just another series now that we have won the World Series". "I don't care about this series more than any other" We if that were true would we have an 9 page game thread before the 1st pitch? great point -

Ahh... the epic battle of good vs. evil continues. Right now, it feels a little irrelevant (in light of our world series crown). However, I'm sure in just a short time, I'll be swearing and cursing the cubs just like I did for the first 25 years of my life prior to winning the world series. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 17, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) I am pretty proud of myself. Read the entire book in 3 days, actually about 12 hours total. Can't wait for the movie. Not only for Tom Hank's role as Robert Langdon but also how they portray the story and whether they actually use the monuments and places in the story. I'm afraid they'll mess this one up. It is going to be difficult to get into the historical detail the book did. The book took so many breaks from the actual plot to explain religious/symbolic history. Its what made the book so interesting... and i just don't think they can cover it in detail like in the book

Champions League; Gunners and Barca
AbeFroman replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
wish I could watch it... Arsenal 1, Barca 0 Sol Campbel header assisted by Thierry Henry GameCast says Lehman is out with a red card. That sucks for arsenal. They are playing this game down one man and with their back-up goalie. with the 1-0 lead, they may shut it down and try to play tight defense for the rest of the game (if thats possible against a team like Barcelona) -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 14, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) Ok, I'm pretty sure there was a thread about the book before but I can't find it. So, anyways, I just got back into the book and am regretting putting it down in the 1st place. Right now, I'm at the part where Silas the Albino is about to go into the church in Paris to look for the keystone. My first impressions of the book were that of astonishment. It is rich in historical content and it truly paints a picture to the reader. No pun intended. Anyone else reading it at the moment? I am re-reading it now before the book comes out. Its funny to read your posts, because the first time I read it, I could not put it down either. To be honest, there is so much history built into the book that I don't know how they can replicate it in the movie. I'm looking forward to it though. The book is easily among the best I've read

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ May 15, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Seriously, does Willie Eyre slow the game down Steve Trachsel style out there? Jason Grimsley can bring a game to a grinding halt almost as well as Trachsel
