Madden 08 coverboy announced.
AbeFroman replied to DrunkBomber's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I guess the only real question is: "What will the injury be?" Knee? Shoulder, Arm? I'm gonna take head... I predict a concussion that substantially impairs his ability to perform this season. got to figure that Vince Young is a running QB; he'll sneak out of the pocket, make a dash for the first down marker, and get his bell rung. With that 6 he got on the wonderlic, I'm gonna say he's got a low brain mass. If thats true, he's more likely to suffer a concussion. -

Did Piniella got nuts in the post-game? If he's blowing up already, he'll be dead way before this team ever wins the big one. Seriously, he'll have a heart attack if he goes off every time the Chicago Cubs implode

Bush invites Dems to White House, re: Iraq
AbeFroman replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) You have got to be joking. LESS advisors and handlers? This administration may have been a lot better if Bush and his 2 or 3 closest allies had ever bothered to get expert advice from ANYONE. Ever. This has been a Presidency that has clearly, even proudly, stated that the President makes his decisions "from his gut", and the man actually thinks that getting input from those who might not agree is a sign of weakness. Here is a challenge for anyone on this board - show me any single thing this President has done since about 1/1/03 that has been positive. Any law he's gotten passed, any executive order that ended in a positive, any well-handled international relations, anything. That's a 4 year period, and I am struggling to find even one positive thing he has done, against a whole plethora of negatives. Even Carter's 4 years were better than that. And before the inevitable non-answers come out, I am not asking about what he HASN'T done, nor am I asking who might or might not have done better. I'm simply asking, what positives has he accomplished in the last 4 years? I've been on leave from the Filibuster for about four months now. I'm not sure if returning is a good idea... since a lot of times I just feel like we're running in circles. Nonetheless, for my return, I'll bite on your question: well... he did throw a pretty decent first pitch to the MLB season in Cincinnati a couple years ago. And he's made stephen colbert a star. thats pretty much all that comes to mind right now. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 5, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) Poor Brian Anderson. I can't believe that we're not letting our toughest out against LHP, Ozuna, play against Sowers. I don't know if ozuna is THE toughest out against LHP (think Dye, Konerko), Ozuna certainly has been very sucessful. Considering how Ozzie sometimes manages the bullpen (oh how he loves the lefty lefty matchup) I am surprised also...

Guillen Not Worried About Sox's Spring...
AbeFroman replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As much as I like the town of Tucson, I feel like its really a hinderance to the team to play spring there. Every year, I always find myself saying: wait till they don't have to pitch in Coors Light. Its not an excuse, but I do think its a relevant consideration... -
I didn't see this posted elsewhere on Soxtalk. If I missed it, I apologize in advance: According to a poster at nsbb, Piniella had this to say about Cotts: I didn't see the quote in any articles... did I miss it? For fun, feel free to read the dopey cub fan comments below on how they got ripped off in the cotts for aardesma deal. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=39137

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 07:06 AM) Im kind of curious about what time of the year it is supposed to be on the show. Roy's excuse that he couldnt go out with Pam to the bar for happy hour was that his brother "ate some water on the jet ski" and they needed to get trashed. Jet Ski's in the middle of the winter? Was it just a ridiculous Roy excuse? I think he sold his jet ski... and used the money he made to pay off the bartender for the broken stuff. Michael and Dwight were a little too nuts tonight for my taste... They need to keep it within the realm of reason.
-
Oh man... I was really really shocked that Pam told Roy about the time she kissed Jim. That story is gonna get nuts... Not sure how Jim is gonna react to Roy. I bet that something crazy happens and the Michael winds up firing Roy. I kinda thought that Dwight and Michael were a little over the top today. I think the show's funnier when they are believably goofy... It was a little too much from them tonight. Good episode though... the story about Roy and Pam is what made it...

Is Jason Whitlock Kansas City's Jay Mariotti?

Hmmm.... Lets see... If I were going to be in a custody dispute, and one of my ex-husband's allegations was that I was an illicit drug user, what would I do to try and cover up my drug use? Shave my head? Hair testing is the most accurate method of testing.... Couple that with the fact that as she was shaving her head she was complaining about having k-fed try to take her kids away. something smells
