Ventura on his job status
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 06:32 PM) It's not cute anymore. He has played a major part in two losses. Good managers don't cost you games. It's sickening. manger checklist: 1) team looks sharp (epic fail, keystone cops on the bases, no patience as a lineup, constant mental miscues) 2) don't actively make game losing tactical decision (epic fail, bunts with 2 on no out even with two strikes, makes an inexcusable no challenge today) 3) handle media and don't throw guys under the bus (blames replay team postgame) EPIC FAIL 3 STRIKES YOU'RE OUT SUCKER.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) Ventura bunted on the road earlier in the week on the road to ATTEMPT to tie. Now on the road hes playing for the potential 14th or 15th instead of trying to preserve a tie with his closer not out there in the 9th? And seriously, I bet he didnt take Iglesias as a credible offensivee threat because he was pretty terrible last year...so why not at least take his results for a nine game stretch this year into account....when youre hitting over .400 something has to be going right and its not just complete luck or an anomaly. I need a beer.

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) I think you have to review it just like they do in football at that point. If its close which it obviously was at least close to the naked eye, in the 9th inning you have to challenge. No matter what they say in the booth. You see it in FB all the time where coaches realize they have nothing to lose by challenging and once in awhile you get incredibly lucky (the Calvin Johnson play against the Bears for example) and the officials reverse it. HE HAD NOTHING TO LOSE. God if the neurons in his brain aren't connected in such a way to REALIZE THAT THEN HE'S f***ING UNFIT TO MANAGE. _____________ I agree Condor KW is JR's butt boy and what he wants he gets because 2005. I have no doubt that Hahn wanted to fire Robin but KW and JR over ruled him. Turn the reigns over to Hahn and GTFO out of the way JR and KW.

Fans of other teams ripping Robin now on twitter. This is bad. I just hope it goes viral enough to where they have to make a change sooner rather than later.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Here's the video of Robin and Alexei after the game. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0417-story.html Holy hell look at how awkward his interpreter is the guy is probably thinking he's going to get fired for translating that comment. and Robin's typical "ah shucks" routine with the media. f*** off dude. Own up to your error.

Rongey defending Robin now trying to blame Alexei for not "insisting" he made the play. Wow. What's Ramirez supposed to do it was obvious from his body language he knew he made the play. Did RV miss that?

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) What were his comments? He threw Robin under the bus as hard and direct as I've ever seen a player do so. Basically said in so many words that Robin f***ED UP. Direct quote was something like "You have to challenge because it's the 9th even if you don't think you'll win".

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:21 PM) Again, CSN did not show the best feed. Alexei absolutely made that tag. He feels the guy's foot hit his glove and then pulls the ball back to avoid hitting the guy's body, which is actually what you're supposed to do because once you've tagged him you don't want to tag the guy again and wind up dropping the ball while making an unnecessary tag. Alexei did his job. The umps didn't do theirs. Luckily MLB has given us a remedy for that problem, if only our f***ing manager was aware enough to realize it's the 9th-- use the f***ing challenge.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) I'd slow down on that. SSS but dude he was on pace for 52 runs above average according to UZR. It was elite don't make any mistake we all watched him make the routine and the spactacular. He isn't going to be 50 runs above average but he's a top 1/3 MLB defender at 2B without a doubt. My guess is he's 10 runs above league average and maybe 15-20 better than Micah over the course of the year. Anyways, back to s***ting on the real villain, robin.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Bonifacio and Beckham both should be in the lineup against tough lefties like this. You could pretty easily convince me that Micah, Gillaspie, and LaRoche should all have taken a seat today. If Micah is going to sit against tough lefties he should be in AAA. If he's the future at 2B he's going to be a regular. Regulars play against tough matchups. It's why they are regulars. Of course, on the evidence, he's not a MLB ready 2B. So yea, not only is he not playing every day in the hopes he can improve against tough lefties, he's not in AAA either. Good job White Sox you've completely f***ed it up! Meanwhile all Sanchez does is outhit Micah in spring, play an elite 2B in his cup of coffee last year, and he gets sent to AAA. After Ramirez' comments today they might have a full on mutiny on their hands.

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) It really sucks to realize that the team you have supported for years is terminally dumb at all levels. It sucks even harder knowing it didn't have to be this way. They could have easily sold RV's record as poor and justified a new hire. Instead they extended him and from all indications it was for more than just 2015. Yea dude, it sucks.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Why is Bonifacio starting at 2nd? Johnson needs to play every day. I have never seen an organization love its medicore declining veterans like this organization. apparently the best time to give the regulars rest is right after the off day. He also benched Garcia AFTER the off day the other day. It's like he's managing with a f***ing dart board.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) Very true, Robin had nothing to lose. But specifically in terms of trusting your players and all that, your guy's word isn't always ironclad. I think given Ramirez's post game comments he doesn't think much of Robin. It's much, much deeper than just this play. I wonder if he told him in English "IT'S THE 9TH INNING YOU f***ING DUMMY CHALLENGE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE".

4/17 - White Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Challenges are just much less tactical or needed in baseball. and it's the NINTH inning, not the first. If the manager thinks his challenges are like cell phone minutes and carryover he should be s***canned. HE HAD NOTHING TO LOSE. It doesn't f***ing matter if there was .00000000000000000000000001 chance of an overturn because the video guy in NYC was getting a hummer under the desk and just misses it -- YOU f***ING CHALLENGE ANYWAY. god I'm so angry over this. It just sucks having such a brain dead manager. Ozzie would have challenged that s*** and he sucked in his own way but at least he knows enough to challenge in the 9th when the game is on teh f***ing line.

Ventura on his job status
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Not in the least. Not one bit. Not one iota. It's literally what I expected. We've seen it 2 years in a row, why would I epxect anything different this year. Heres me calling a well below .500 season after a crappy start in the predictions thread. Manager wants to impress now? Get his team back in gear and turn this around. They're already calling him out publicly. Could still happen, but... When we get to tar and feather Robin in Millenium Park I want dibs on 2nd behind you. You called it man. Any lotto advice?

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Doesn't Robin get word from someone who actually watched the replay? The replays I saw up until the one Tito posted clearly looked like he missed the tag, perhaps those were the same replays whoever makes the decision saw? I'd put a bunch of the blame on whoever that person is. If this has been brought up, my apology, I skipped a million pages. He got word from his respected, All-Star, vet SS and ignored it. That's the kicker.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Once again just to point out. With the game winning walk off run on second and nobody out THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE THERE. All other points and counterpoints are irrelevant. The IBB seems to be mystical thought in the White Sox dugout as well as the use of video review. Go back to the Orioles game last year and the play at theplate you would think Robin would just say f*** it who knows maybe we win. You're right Harry. Ramirez knows it. We all know it. Robin doesn't know it. The one guy that has to know it didn't. It's his job to know to challenge or have someone smart enough next to him (Mark Parent, you're fired as well) to tell him to challenge. Broom the entire coaching staff other than Steverson and Cooper. Yes, I'm including Coleman, Baines and McEwing.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) That's quite a look into the locker room mentality of this team, imo. Alexei has been around long enough to know what he was doing in that interview. Exactly. A not so very coded message to the guys that sign everyone's checks -- including RV's -- that something is rotten.

Ventura on his job status
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) FWIW, I don't think it's shocking at all, it's basically what I expected. Yea but you must be surprised at how sloppy they area? I mean, it's been a f***ing horror show of mental errors. It's one thing to lose and play a good clean game. It's another to lose and make 2-3 head scratching errors.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) If you are one of the posters who said he was safe for 10 min before seeing the other angle then you would have said dont challenge as well so dont act like you also made a split second decision. Thats a video crew fail, umpire fail and manager fail all rolled into one. Yea but it falls on the team CEO -- Robin -- to make all of that irrelevant with a smart use of replay. It was a no brainer. But, you know, so is callign off the bunt sign with 2 strikes in the 9th. But hey, that's just a fan talking.

considering Avi is one of the few guys that has showed f***ing anything at the plate this year yea, let's start having him dive again. Think dude. He's worth more playing than not playing and we don't want to lose a potential 300/20/20 guy because of diving in the outfield. If anything it's Chicago's fault for not already moving him to left or 1B.
