  1. Does JR have anybody in his ear that can explain to him the concept of spending money to make money? Maybe he does but he's just too focused on the 2-5 year timeline he has left in his life. If the Sox had a better farm system, if they spent more on the draft, International academies, foreign scouting and on and on -- it means a better winning percentage at the big league level eventually. And that means more fans through the gates, more Miller Lite sold and better TV revenue. Sadly, I'm getting the impression that JR really doesn't see much future for the Sox.
  2. also the cheap plays.
  3. With the caveat that even the absolute best people in the business fail at this constantly my issues with Gonzo are this: If he's not a SS (and imo looking at his film and reports he's not in MLB) then he's a 2B or 3B. At 2B he'd need to be league average defensively in order to be a solid regular as I don't see how he projects as much more than a 260/310/400 hitter. If he's a 3B with the same slash line he better be elite defensively. I dunno, he just seems destined to be utility guy most of the time, maybe a league average player 1/3 and he has zero star potential it seems.
  4. A passion for incompetence, a tradition of dysfunction and pride in ineptness.
  5. A torn ACL and Tommy John? JFC.
  6. This kid seems like a pretty mediocre ceiling Sox type pick.
  7. Luis Robert bro, but otherwise I'm with you.
  8. The White Sox offense tipping the cap:
  9. His EV numbers are pretty good but for whatever reason he has a hard time hitting the ball hard at the optimum launch angle. All his hardest hit balls seem to be liners into the power alleys.
  10. Come on there is two outs Colas needs to be getting a little better secondary.
  11. Someone has to follow the rules around here. I checked out early to hit up a bar for the Wemby debut with some hoop heads. Looks like the Sox hit some balls hard and in the air. Lets keep doing that. Get some trade value.
  12. And it's quite un sox like to score more runs than their opponent in a game the opponent out hit them nearly 2 to 1.
  13. That's just your guardian angel doing the Lord's work.
  14. I can escape, not being in Japan and all.
  15. Does a bear s%*# in the woods. This is the White Sox, that's why.
  16. Dylan Cease tonight:
  17. Thing I sorta remember that Kong game, was a fun one.
  18. I'd have called for a suicide squeeze! ?
  19. There's def something to be said for fielding a team of good athletes that hit just enough to get to 2-3 WAR over a season, assuming good health. Sometime circa 2012 the Sox seemed to de-emphasize team defense at the expense of offense -- except the offense didn't get consistently better, the defense and other athletic parts of good baseball just got worse.
  20. That's fair, but I'd still have him bunt. I think there is an 85% he can get one down and I'd have committed to it with two strikes as well.
  21. Yea, Robert is the only guy in the lineup I'd make an exception for in that spot. The rest of these guys can get a bunt down and increase the odds of winning the game.
