  1. This is what I'm complaining about. Burger is like JAG. We are just so starved for any success we have some mixed feelings about losing a DH? I understand liking his story but we root for the laundry no? The Sox are going nowhere fast, with or without Jake. Getting a good SP prospect makes the next relevant Sox team a little closer.
  2. Says something about something that many Sox fans either don't like the trade or would just prefer to have not made it. This is a franchise that has starved the fans, in some cases into clouded thinking.
  3. As much as I like all these moves the much bolder move would of course to have made them last year. But better late than never. I was clearly wrong about the value overall of rentals and otherwise mediocre players. The playoff rules have changed what "going for it" means and seems most years it's going to be a seller's market.
  4. A. But an A on the midterm is meaningless when you flunk the final. Doesn’t change his overall performance one bit.
  5. Wow we sold high for once! On a DH! Wow!
  6. Cool narrative, but horseshit players and teams fail between the lines first.
  7. Yea I guess so. I think the scouting turned out fairly accurate on him. Maybe he can have a couple nice years as a setup guy. We jerked him around so much it's hard imo for relievers to thrive like that.
  8. I hope he thrives. always liked him he kept his mouth shut and as the third piece of the Eaton trade was a fine piece.
  9. We have one position player that is on pace for more than 2 WAR and that is Robert, who will probably finish around top 5 in the AL at 5.5-6.5. Jake might be able to squeek over 2 if he can stay healthy and keep his wRC+ around 120. Our biggest signing ever, Benitendi, is on pace for 1.3 fWAR. The rest of our "core" like TA, Moncada and Eloy aren't even worth mentioning really. They all, for various reasons, are barely even 1 WAR players anymore. Just a really shocking turn of events for guys that looked like "can't miss" players just a few years ago.
  10. We really ran into a lot of bad luck with all the tommy johns. Tommy john isn't a miracle cure and at least 1/6 or so guys never really makes it back fully. With his other lower body injuries on top of his arm issues Kopech as you said, this is not the same guy.
  11. I missed the game. Looks good in the box score. Raise that trade value boys.
  12. That doesn't seem very white sox.
  13. lol KW to the rescue! spare me.
  14. it's a bit off color and would probably get them cancelled had the joke come out now but one of the funniest bits on the Dugout was Mr. Met, whose avatar was of course the Mr. Met mascot, typing in the chat "I hate when we [lose] and it makes me so angry I have to go home and [kiss] my wife right in the face".
  15. This looks like a 100 loss team after we trade two SP.
  16. Maybe they can get a guy like Dane Dunning for Giolito.
  17. I almost posted the same thing last night in the trades thread. The utterly crazy thing is if we trade guys having horrible years like Lynn and Anderson we actually done even have replacement level players for them anywhere in the minors. Just an incredible indictment of Hahn.
  18. NYS is boring AF and has huge "moats" that separate the common folks from the kings. You can see it behind home plate on the broadcast, just looks stupid. The area around the stadium is pretty cool tho, lots of little Yankee themed stuff going on, real gritty, at least when I was around about 10 year ago. Citi is a bit cookie cutter itself but it does have a really cool jackie robinson statue when you walk in and the concourse has great views. Before I left the east coast I wanted to hit up NYS, Citi and Camden and made it to NYS and Citi twice and Camden once. I loved Camden and you can see why it was so revolutionary right when you walk in, as it's "open air" in a way other stadiums were not previously. Sox unfortunately fell on the wrong side of that divide with New Comiskey.
  19. It's way out in Flushing, but it's all city in only the way NYC can be, at least in America. Train runs along some epic graffiti and NYC cityscapes. And Flushing itself is awesome, also home to the US Open. When you get off the train there are signs that point left for baseball and right for tennis.
  20. The food is great there too. Even just riding the 7 train out there is an experience, so many cool sights.
