  1. He's one of the few vets I actually like, so sure. Keep him around.
  2. The official White Sox fluffer.
  3. Put me down as not caring one bit about what position the players coming back play. I want the best consensus prospects at any position. I think I can count on one hand (maybe one or two fingers) how many times in over 30 years as a Sox fan the Sox had a glut of players at one position where someone was blocked. It just doesn't happen.
  4. Seems like they aren't even going to entertain the notion of a younger player like Colas or Sosa getting some playing time to start the year. It's not like those guys are super studs banging down the door but it's still off putting to see such a commitment, even so far in spring, to getting vets at bats. Would it really harm anybody to have gotten Colas and Sosa and Ramos and others some more camp ABs against hopeful MLB players instead of going back to the back fields? Whatever. Just make sure some of these guys are getting playing time in MLB by mid summer.
  5. The guy that does the formatting in Excel for these lineups is the only competent person in the org.
  6. I'm not claiming to be a source but I'm hearing that a package centered around Ohtani and Betts with 500 million headed to Chicago is being floated for Dylan Cease. Just getting that out there, again, not claiming to be a source.
  7. We have all the leverage. No reason to rush anything. If he has good value now he'll have excellent value in a few months. Put him in bubble wrap.
  8. Sir, this is Soxtalk.
  9. Very weak. Not even on the table. Oscar Colas was a back end top 100 guy. That's like a B- prospect. Cease is worth way more than that plus A ball lottos.
  10. It's easy to be a "leader" when things are going well. Baseball isn't really a sport that lends itself to the rah rah pep talk. Being a leader in baseball usually just means doing your job on the field. Hard to be a leader when you've got an ERA around 6. In other sports in season practice is more important in a team sense, in baseball you're just doing individual drills for the most part. Paul Konerko going hard through his 1st base drills isn't going to sharpen Uribe at short stop and so on.
  11. 11 hits, one run. White Sox baseball!
  12. I feel like 95% of the time with an elbow issue if it's down to "seeking more opinions" and "hoping for the best" it's gonna be at best 3 months of rest and at worst 15 months of TJS rehab.
  13. Hard to believe we're basically halfway through spring training. So far it's been a decent spring other than the results. We're going to suck ass of course, but team health is good and there's been some positives with the pitching projects.
  14. No, spring training doesn't mean anything for all we know they told him to take it easy and not hurt himself like he did last year to start off. I'll worry if he hurts his oblique again. We need him to get that high minors experience this year.
  15. He's a jackass. He was fine in Japan but certainly not elite. You put those things together and nobody wants that distraction relative to the upside. Upside might be 150 innings at 4.2 era. Downside is he pisses off you clubhouse and fans and pitches 100 innings at 4.8 era or so. His zips projected era is 4.3 so I'm not quite just spitballing.
  16. Mookie is an insane athlete. If anybody could do it, I'd think he could. I feel like if that guy decided to be like a world class darts player if you gave him a few years he would get pretty close.
  17. You score runs with homeruns and doubles. Not singles and bunts. This isn't 1973 and you play at G-Rate, not the Astrodome.
  18. That's great news. Thanks for the update. 2nd or 3rd start some of these guys should be moving away from "working on things" and trying to make some good pitches once and awhile.
  19. He's a DH and his statcast xwOBA was in the 1st percentile. Anytime you have a guy like that, you find a way to get him playing time. He's a comically bad player. Like he's probably not even a AAAA player. He'll also be 28 in May. I mean, if he was 24 maybe you can justify it based on profile a bit, but he's already well into what should be his statistical prime.
  20. These days they use the Sox as more of a stick than a carrot...get some Ds? Go spend 3 hours at the park watching the grass grow in between a 6-2 snoozer. No phone or tablet allowed. That will learn 'em up.
  21. Another sticky stuff guy.
  22. He could hit 500/600/800 this spring and I wouldn't reconsider a single thing about him. His numbers are horrific, for a LHB DH, they are almost unfathomably bad.
  23. The really insist on Gavin Sheets, don't they? Why the f*** wouldn't you just give those 1B innings to Colas this spring? Fucking idiots.
